@@jigilous yep! I'm an anxious person, and I love how I feel with a nice buzz. I like the person I am at that point. Not drunk, but not so stressed with so many inhibitions. Makes it hard to stop when I hate the person I am without alcohol's assistance. 😅
Day 11 of sobriety after 41 years of heavy drinking. I suffer from CPTSD and depression but I could not feel any better about myself than today. My mood has improved and Im getting healthy. One day at a time for now but I know I can do it.
Congrats on 11 days!! I’m so glad you’re feeling better about yourself, and overall feeling more healthy. I’m rooting for you 👏 it’s such a worthwhile journey.
I have been alcohol free for 6 years, lost my husband of 52 years to this chemical, he was a Vietnam war veteran, and I believe used to NUM. God rest his soul👣🙏🏼 So wonderful to know young folks are finding sobriety while they still have many years to enjoy freedom from a chemical dependency. God bless you and keep you in his care. Thank you for your honesty. 🤝
I will hit two years 100% sober in June. I agree with you about the non-alcoholic beer comment. I stopped after twenty-five years of beer drinking. I gave it up on my 45th b-day. The first year was tough, actually first 90 days was a real challenge - but trust me, if you are reading this - it gets so much easier. Smooth sailing these days. Great video, I have subscrided.
Good video. I gave up my love affair with white wine on Sept 26. I twisted the knob on my wine box around 5 pm most every night to let in the good feelings of another day worth living. I perfected my drinking style over 50 yrs as I started at 17 1/2 yrs old and justed turned 68. The white wine, mainly the Chardonnay variety, was my preferred drink the last 20 yrs. I did have occasional 'look in the mirror' conversations about my health but my desire to drink was too passionate. I had a big heart attack on Sept 26 and that settled the nightly drinking. My desire for drinking went away and the wine box went in the recycle bin. My health is improving everyday. Not drinking has been a delight as it's opened up my mornings and made me a better social person. I was surprised that my drinking secluded me to others. I really like my life and my attitude to living since I quit. I can't see any reason to drink again.
Thank you for sharing your story! I’m so glad you are getting to experience the wide array of benefits that come from quitting alcohol. (And that you are in better health now too). Proud of you 👏
Congratulations, Chelsey! My wife and I quit alcohol 11 months ago and it was the best decision we've ever made. It seems to us that the key is realizing that life is enjoyable without alcohol. There is a fear that life will be boring without alcohol, but it's really the opposite. Life is much better without it. Glad you're back making videos. You're really good! Keep it up! Abrazos from Texas.
Thank you! And I completely agree that life can be so much more enjoyable without it. I definitely feel that way and never thought I would - Congrats to you and your wife on celebrating 11 months alcohol free! That’s awesome to hear.
Keep up the good work Chelsey! One thing I've learned is that getting sober doesn't so much open up the gates of heaven and let you in, but it sure can open up the gates of hell and let you out.
Iv quit and today marks day 14! So pleased I have finally made the change. Looking forward to getting further in to my sobriety. Thanks for the tips. Please keep them coming 🙏🏻 xxx
I found what helped me, I’m pretty health conscious, I studied up on exactly what alcohol is and what it does to your body. It’s a serious neurotoxin that crosses the blood brain barrier as well as a carcinogen... 😮
Thank you for the reminder to journal!! Can’t afford therapy and it’s definitely the next best thing. Sober for 5.5 months now and I’m feeling good. I lost myself in all the drinks and getting back to me has been so, so nice. Journaling will help sort out all the previously ignored feelings.
Im on day 9, finally in a groove. Working out, eating right and I have energy finally. However , Im worried im going to drink again under stress or being emotional. I do have lots of grief to deal with too. Probably bcuz i haven't made it past 50 days the past few yrs. I love your suggestions, I agree. Sometimes food and sweets is ok in the beginning. Finding a good beverage you love is a must..mine is ice sparkling water and so many flavors.
Stopped drinking 6 days ago. I’m a “one is too many and a thousand is never too much” type of person. I’m this way with food and of the last 2 years the same way with alcohol. I did stop drinking for 9 months in 2022. But then thought I could have one drink on special occasions or when going out to dinner. As you know that just keeps evolving until I was drinking daily. I rarely had a hangover but I just felt like I was poisoning my body. So at almost 63 years old I’m going to stop drinking for good. I really love this video and your 5 suggestions. 10:00 am est.
I have been sober for 5 months solid. I feel the best I have in years. Number one thing: I am re-building my self esteem day by day. I even started liking myself again. Thank you for all your great advice. Just subscribed to your channel. 🤜🏽
Great topic and ideas. I am on day 140 or so. I have been drinking socially for 35 years and tried a 60 day sober journey a few times. I liked how I felt. Sleep, focus, energy, joint pain, and much more improved. I also hated the hangovers and that feeling of regret the following day. My relationship has improved with being sober. I am fine going out and having a nonalcoholic IPA. Many of my friends ask why I am not drinking…and I just say I am taking a break. I did 2 social trips to Florida with big party friends and never drank and they didn’t notice much….or pressure me. My productivity at work and in my second job is much better as well. I am shooting for a one year goal, but may continue for longer too. I don’t miss much other than the taste of an IPA or margarita…. But I wake up happy. Good luck on your journey. 😎
Good for you to be brave enough to post such an open and honest message. I’ve been on again off again for about one year. No drinks for a week tomorrow. I think this time for good. Can’t tell you how helpful and uplifting RU-vid sober videos have been/are. Thank you, Dave
I’m alcohol free for a little over 2 months today and although it’s been challenging for sure, it has given me so many positive changes back! I feel a lot more confident and happy, sleep better and all my relationships have improved. Videos like these help me keeping motivated, so thank you for making them❤️ xx love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Congrats on 2 months! I know it can be pretty tough in those first couple of months but I’m so glad you’re already reaping the benefits! ✨ Thank you for your comment ♥️
I’ve been sober curious for a few years now and have quit multiple times. On day 3 this time. These videos really do help a lot. My stepdaughter quit this summer and I quit with her for a while. She’s been my inspiration to keep going. ❤
@@chelseyarmfield Thanks for the kind words and putting out authentic content. I should of quit drinking twenty years ago (or never started!). However, everyday is a new day to make better decisions and improve yourself! ✌️😎🙏👍
Thanks so much for the video! I started journaling, therapy but I never thought of Dover meet ups. Good one ☝️ it’s been 28 days now for, but I drank once during that time
Thank you so much for suggesting open path! I finally decided that it's ok to ask for help and I looked into therapists in my area. I found a therapist that I liked but the sessions were $150 an hour 😭 but $60 a session is extremely doable. Especially since I'd like to go weekly at least at first. I love your videos ❤️
It’s been a month; thank you for the tips. I will think on the journaling… May have to get that shredder you spoke of! 😊. I feel good, my body is healing and I’m glad I made the choice to stop. Congrats on your sobriety as well! It ain’t easy and I am relearning a ton. I’ve been treating myself as well… bought my favorite apple soda and will enjoy on a Friday night instead of my normal 2-3 glasses of wine . And did I mention I’ve lost 6 pounds? Even during the holidays??! Yeah!
Thank you! And congrats on 1 month! That’s so exciting! Wishing you the best of luck on this new chapter in your life. It’s really such a good feeling, and it just gets better and better with time. Enjoy your apple soda and feeling hangover free in the am 🥰
Seltzer water, sometimes with lemon juice, has been a nice thing to replace alcohol when I crave a drink. At the end of a long day, when I would usually drink alcohol, I can chug some Seltzer water and feel satiated.
Same here. Plain, unflavored sparkling water with a lemon or lime slice. I drink it all day. I don’t do non-alcoholic beverages. If you don’t want to gain weight, don’t drink those high carb drinks they are trying to sell.
One week without alcohol mostly wine after cutting down over a period of a year. Have tried to completely eliminate alcohol several times and I am determined to stop altogether. These videos do help. My sleep has already improved. I went to two Mother’s Day events yesterday and politely refused a glass of wine. It was easier than I expected. No pressure from anyone. Thanks for your video and congratulations on your journey. 🎉
"while being sober might be less conventional, that's okay... that's just more reason to be proud of yourself" I loved that comment. I am 9 months sober after 3 decades of partying pretty hard, and it's the best decision i ever made. Allen Carr's book is what changed it all for me. I'm 52 years old. Now, i don't even desire alcohol, which is amazing because I drank most days during those 30+ years. It was truly a lifestyle for me. Congratulations on your journey! great video
I made a decision not to drink at least until my birthday (July 16), as I've been sober curious for at the last year or so. I'm only 1 week in but videos like these help a lot :) I came across your channel last year. So glad you've posted again!!
Hi Chelsey, just finished watching your video, thank you for posting, it was very insirational. I am going through 'Dry January' now, and although it's only been 17 days, I feel so much better. I believe I am going to try to quit altogether and go beyond January as I really don't miss it. Well, I DO have had days where I get 'weak' (Sunday football... Haha), but perservere through it. Noticable changes? I am sleeping better, my mind is much clearer, and basically just feel more in control of my life. Anyhow, maybe on Jan 17 2025 I'll check back in with you and say.... "It's been a year Chelsey"! Thanks again for the video, its people like you that I can come in and listen to to give me that 'hope'... You're doing a great service to people like me.
That’s amazing to hear! I’m happy you’re leaning further into the alcohol free lifestyle-it really does come with so many more benefits than downsides. Things like football game temptation, etc. will get so much easier with time-and how cool that would be to see your comment a year from now 👏🎉
You are definitely on the right path. Keep it up, u will certainly see more and more benefits day by day, year by year, as you stay away completely from alcoholic beverages. Believe I stopped drinking alcoholic beverages since July 1996, and I continue seeing benefits of that wonderful decision to quit drinking alcoholic beverages. I am proud of myself and I am also proud of anyone who has also made that magnificent decision to quit drinking alcoholic beverages forever. I love you for your great decision ❤
I was a year sober, I'm now struggling to have 'fun' or connecting moments with people around me & have a sense of 'boredom'. I had a few drinks last night, regretting it and planning on getting sober again, but I just don't know how to find people who are happy and fun and don't need alcohol to have fun. I'm 20, at uni, and everyone drinks.
I know what you mean, it can be hard to find that balance and find new ways of unwinding and having fun (especially if you’re surrounded by people who tend to equate fun with drinking). My version of fun these days looks a lot different than when I drank alcohol. Wishing you the best of luck on your alcohol free journey 🫶
Yeaaa.. A new video.. Ive been waiting for ages.. To the topic... I can totally relate... Once you get over that period you will don't need a single drops.. Keep it up Chels 💚😘
Thank you for this vidéo ! Im in my second month 0 alcohol and definitely agree with the first point : i treat myself with some chocolate or pizza , as long as im losing the drinking habit its OK ! ❤
You're gonna age good! Look at Kate Beckinsale, always thought she's drop dead gorgeous, more than girls 20 years younger, and what? she's a teetotaller I learnt today!
I’m 57 and been a heavy drinker for 30 years. Today marks 50 days alcohol free and never felt better. No more puffy face and clothes getting loose. Brain fog gone and my energy level is high. A little treat like a coke does help
Great video! I have been slowly tapering off since December and it has been 19 days since full stop. The only craving I've had is when my inlaws came to visit last weekend lol! but I made it through it. If I can get past St. Patrick's day without any Guinness, I think I will be ok! Thank you for the added inspiration!
@@chelseyarmfield Thank you! I did make it through the day. It was the first St. Patrick's day sober in 25 or so years or so. It felt ok, no cravings at all. I did discover Guinness zero, and it filled in nicely as a replacement.
Hey Chelsey, thanks for the video and tips! I live close to Seattle! I have 40 days and on the search for all the best places in Western WA that offer NA drinks so I can suggest those places when meeting up with friends.
Hi, Heather! That’s amazing :) the two that come to mind is cactus & Joey’s for fun n/a drinks. My fav is the Mexican lemonade from cactus, tastes like a jalapeño margarita. (But I’m sure Seattle has sooo much more to offer than just that)
@@chelseyarmfield thank you so much for the suggestions! Good to hear Joey's has NA drinks as well( Love that place). If I find any more gems in the area for NA drinks I will definitely share with you as well. Thanks again for the great videos!
love your video! 5 weeks in and happy but wondering when did you feel … ok, never again and really happy with that choice? Thanks for caring enough to share❤😊
Congrats on almost 2 months! 💗 hmm, that’s a good question. Throughout the first year I was happy with my choice and saw benefits but I would say after the 1 year mark is where it just really felt like second nature/ and I had zero doubts.
60 days alcohol free, after some 40 years of culturally accepted drinking. Thanks for the tips and congrats for realizing the danger of booze early in life, it is more difficult as you age
Thank you! And congrats on 60 days, that’s amazing and you should be very proud! It’s so hard to see the many benefits of an alcohol free lifestyle when it’s such a cultural norm to drink.
@@chelseyarmfield thank you. I’m trying for a year. Weed free too. First few weeks were tough, bad headaches and lethargic. I feel amazing now. The energy is fantastic!! 😉🤘
Listening to you! Has given me hope! And my brother as well,,, we are both under the influence, daily ,,,thank you so much for the positive information,, God bless you, !!I hope we can stop this nonsense lol
I’m so happy this video gave you some hope! An alcohol free lifestyle is 100% worth it 🧡 and I believe you can totally do it if you set your mind to it! There are so many benefits in this journey that outweigh drinking.
I've started my sobriety journey 4 days ago. I'm an emotional drinker (emotional neglect as a child) and sought out 'friends' who are alcoholics. My mate died two weeks ago. This was my turning point and I decided to completely quit. Thanks for your insights.
I’m very sorry for your loss. I think you made a great decision and I applaud you for quitting in the midst of your grief. Sometimes these deeply painful moments are the best catalyst for a major life change. My Dad’s passing was what inspired me to quit it as well.
Thanks@@chelseyarmfield ! My dad was a quiet, sad drinker too. He never talked, he was always sad and drank. He died 5 years ago. I was try to please him by drinking too. Like him. Profound insight.
To anyone who’s watching, the non-alcoholic beer brand called Partake is amazing and it will 100% kill your desire to drink a “real” bet if you drink a Partake. I think you could easily reduce your drinking to a fraction of what it is/was by drinking Partake.
If you want to quit and truly understand the trap itself. Invest into the author, “Allen Carr” you won’t have any withdrawal symptoms and it won’t be hard to do.
That worked for me also. It was so easy that I slowly started drinking beer when golf season started last year. We did dry January. This time we did damp January🤓 but I am at 5 weeks today totally dry(mar 5th 2023) and wondering if I am ever going to drink again. I am not sure to be honest. I don’t have cravings now but I am questioning again if I should just say enough poison and move on with my life☺️ The first week both times was easy but the 2nd and 3rd was boring and a little melancholy. I am cruising along a bit now except that thought of am I really not ever going to drink again🤷♂️ I found this channel today and she has been helpful and her commenters are also, thanks!
i cold turkeyed cigs, weed, porn , and alcohol after new years. surprisingly it's been easy but i keep thinking ill be boring to everyone. then i remind myself im not living for everyone.
My non-alcolholic substitute actually gets me slightly tipsy . It says zero on the front but then 0.5 percent on the bk , because my tolerance dropped so low the 0.5 percent has an effect . But it was the only brand I liked so just tea from now on ..
@@chelseyarmfield Indeed , I'm on redbush caffeine free it's really nice . After the experience with the beer I'm now reading the labels , and ingredients. I'm really shocked to find my nutritional yeast flakes contain synthetic b 12 called cyanocobalamin which is made from the throth of raw human sewage , no joke . And my favourite soft drink tropical Rio contains artificial sweetners that are nero toxins , literally destroy the brain . And I'm very concerned about an organic broccoli I have in the fridge it's 3 wks past its sale by date and still looks fresh ( keeping as an experiment ) Seems like home grown is the best bet . Looking forward to more videos soon 😀
If you cut alcohol be prepared for a divorce if youre married.or a breakup if your not married..some people are together because of the sexlife alcohol brings.once you cut it off the other person will eventually say having sex is not fun no more.. alot of people fail on being clean because of sex or cronic masturbators (releasing sperm)
Your journaling sounds like "morning pages" from artists way - where you're less trying to keep a record of your life and more using automatic writing as a tool to dump all the brain and soul clutter onto the page so you can think a little more clearly throughout the day. it's hard for a lot of men to journal for many reasons, but the automatic writing dump seems to work well. thanks for your video.
I quit at 3am on January 1st. I'm just worried how I'm going to cope. I've been a regular binge drinker for about 10 years. It's taken a toll on my body and health and I really want to do this. I'm just worried I will fail :(
I’m so proud of you for making that tough decision to quit. I hope you are able to stay strong and take this one day at a time. It’s hard habit to break but it does get so much easier with time.
@@chelseyarmfield Thanks Chelsey. I hope so too. Whilst I sit here and type this, I'm now over my NYE hangover and feeling like beer again. I haven't drank anything and am not going to either, I'm just thinking if I'm feeling like this now (2 days in) then how will I manage even a week :(
@@The_Professor26 In my opinion the first few days/ the first week are the hardest and you just have to do everything in your power to stick to it and take good care of yourself. You gotta remind yourself why you quit in the first place in those tough moments of temptation.
Congrats on 8 weeks! 🫶 I completely relate to what you said, my drinking was starting to feel problematic and it just felt like it would feel so freeing to finally quit. I came across the term “grey area drinking” and that summed it up for me.
For me I don’t mind if it has 0.5% because it doesn’t impact me (but I know it isn’t like that for everyone). I also enjoy Kombucha on special occasions.
Chelsey- Hi ,,new here - really appreciated your video and info...im in the process of quitting alcohol...its just not doing me any good...can you share one of the online sobriety groups that you like? thanks!
I know this video is older but I did still want to pop in and say thank u for the tips. I'm only 9 days in but want to commit to a lifetime. I've tried a couple alcohol free "placeholder" beers but just terrible aftertaste. Anyone know of some good hoppy decent IBU ones?
Congrats on 9 days! 👏 have you tried the non alcoholic Athletic Brewing Co IPA? (Comes in a blue can). I think you might like it, it has a pretty strong taste to it.
@chelseyarmfield thanks for the recommendation. I tried and liked that one last night. Also, one called "Free Time" is good, I think from American Brewery.
I plan to make more videos in 2023, I’ve just been busy writing, publishing books on Amazon, and making short form videos on TikTok. - I’m a little torn on what to make of this channel. People tend to really like the alcohol free content, so I’m not sure if I should stick to that theme or keep it a little more broad like I was before. I have to think about it more.
