I saw this Robot yesterday at the British science museum , and it was amazing how the children interacted with him, they treated it as if it was one of them , in the same way that a child would look after a younger sibling. I took some video and will post as soon as poss' !
I love him so much and I'd be so happy to have him. He would be my best friend and companion for the rest of my life. I'd love and protect him like a child.
@StevieTVee92 I'm not disagreeing with you but how would we know when a robot is no longer "mimicking" emotions and is actually experiencing them if we can't use it's behaviour as a test. Also do you think animals like dogs have emotions? If so what evidence is there that they are not simply behaving emotionally because that behaviour is helpful for their survival and replication?
steps: Create mechanical joints that move like humans, Figure out a way to balance it( i have an idea) But wont share it though for obvious reasons. Then there is what material and software/programming- Also to make it energy self sufficient
"I promise, I'll be quiet now!" Reminds me a lot of HAL 9000 asking for Dave not to shut him down, because "I can give you complete assurance that my work will be back to normal".
The first PC's in the 70s cost about the same. You have to wait about 30 years. At Aldebaran Robotics will be competitors (in China ;)) and the price of such robots will drop to less then $ 1,000
