The Chicago Bulls are the real deal and the play of Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball is a huge reason why. The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor breaks down what makes Ball and Caruso the glue for the Bulls’ offense, how they lead the team’s defense, and why Chicago should be taken seriously as a title contender.

Caruso talked about how studying players was a big thing he picked up from LeBron... knowing tendencies and moves... he gets better every year. And Ball completely reconstructed his shooting form, very rare at his level.

Just realized they were team mates before too lol.. Lakers fucked up. Lebron really can't play with other ball handlers. Lebrkn got lucky Kyrie was a 1 man wrecking crew. Kyrie was all isolation in Cleveland scoring 50 on teams like the spurs. Meanwhile lebron turns everyone into spot up shooters. He needs to retire at 37 like Kobe.

Hey you got a title in 2020 by LBJ and AD when Lakers went "all in". Personally I think they wouldn't have won without the Bubble situation, but hey, a title is a title. It was obvious Lakers are going to fuck up with an aging King and a (overall) constantly) hurt AD who cannot go through 82 games + deep playoff runs (that's another reason for their title in 2020, the season break in Spring 2020 - killing the hot rhythm of the Bucks and of the Clips and having healthy old aging stars like the two I'm talking about). Now their trade didn't work out with Westbrook - no idea how they couldn't have seen this coming from miles away that this makes no sense. Even if Russ would be on his peak of health/skill/athleticism I think it would be problematic that it would work on this roster - but at the moment he looks more like a washed up star of the past - and I think, except small blinks in singular games - that's it for him. But to be fair, Caruso developed over the years and Ball disappointed very much in the Lakers dress as a rookie. They bought short term success for a high probabilty to be mediocre or for a few seasons even bad in the mid to end 2020ies - and oh boy Lakers Fans, this time is going to come sooner than later....all you can do is hope for retiring your active members of the 75th anniversary team (except Davis who's under 30).

Caruso reminds me a lot of Manu, not in his play style, but his overwhelming ability to help his team thrive. He’s like the defensive version of Manu, which is the highest compliment I can give him. When he’s on the court, the entire landscape of the game changes. It’s honestly incredible.

Disclaimer: I am a bulls fan. But im a NBA fan first, and I love this team because they play fun, clean basketball. Everyone on this team was undervalued, Heck the Bulls were undervalued as a franchise the past 20 years. AK put together a roster complete with talented player, under a good coach and showed the league in the first month that they can matchup with any team in this league. That is why I believe they are a serious contender from the East.

undervalued franchise? the value dropped because the talent dropped. even though the Bulls play for a big market/top 3 big city, the team wasnt winning s***. Things fell waaaayy off after that Jordan era. Even the Lakers , GS etc lost money, when they werent performing. its all business. The Bulls increased their value during that D Rose prime era. Then again once Wade joined. But franchise success dictates a lot
@Ult1mateGamer3
@Ult1mateGamer3 2 года назад
@@tahitiantreatskeetjuice23 Undervalued in the sense of that they couldn’t pull a major free agent to a top 3 market for years. The management and ownership did it to themselves. Thank you for including Vuc. I see too many Bulls fans not realizing how HUGE Vuc has been for us. Even though his shot has been off...Vuc setting pick and pops has opened up the middle of the court for Zach and Demar. I think a lot of fans think Vuc is popping because he wants his own shot...but Vuc is popping because it pulls the big man away from the hoop and opens up the lane for our ball handlers. Vuc has been INSANELY unselfish this year. Zach loves attacking off picks and handoffs from our Centers. Vuc has been GREAT and distributing the ball to open shooters. He'll get the ball on that short roll OR they will just throw it to him near the free throw line and guys will cut off him and go to the hoop and he will just drop it down to them. Vuc has been AWFUL (for his standards) at shooting so far this season..but he's still been one of the most impactful centers in the league...I'm not sure the league is ready for the Bulls when Vuc gets his shot back and starts hitting the 3 ball near the 40% clip he shot last year.

I am a massive believer in this team, have watched almost every game. The ball movement is so refreshing to have on this team, so much different from last year. The one thing that I hate to think about is that the bulls let Thadeus Young go. I think his rebounding and improved passing from last year would make this team a legit contender. Javonte Green, Derick jones jr, and Tony Bradley all provide great energy and effort off the bench, but in the playoffs, they might struggle. With a veteran like Thad, I think this is less of a concern. Great video KOC

Some very in-depth stats there and you're spot on about much of Ball and AC's intuition, maturity and IQ in the game of basketball. They are just defensive daggers and blood does flow each time they intercept the passing lanes and both players have fucking great court vision and they just balling out there! Add to that the Lavine/Demar scoring combo, it's just breathtaking to watch the ball moving and swishing. This team could use a rim protector and rebounder but I'm not selling the farm to get one. If one becomes available in the buyout market like say a Thad young then I say jump on it but if not just roll with what you got and get the experience for all the guys that haven't tasted the playoffs before and then you will be in a great position to make another run next year and be even better.

I agree! Interior rebounding snd paint defense will be the biggest struggle they have as the season goes on. They also lack depth on the bench for that role. I love this team overall though, but it’s important to notice what flaws they have.

loving every game the bull are playing. win or lose they put up a good show. and most lost games so far has been their fault. A few things need to ironed out, but all in all amazing team. has been a long struggle as a Bulls fan :)

It’s a joy to watch this team play so hard on both ends of the court. Bulls v Bucks in the ECF!

I like your segments because they don't focus on the same 5 players and teams.

Bulls is one of the most exciting teams to watch so far in this season. I'd be really surprised if they don't make the play-offs.

The Bulls are a great example of the sum being greater than the parts. This team's fun to watch.
