By the way, I turned free solo into a love story. Probably the best quote I’ve ever heard from these guys.

Alex is the best. He is so normal and not selling dramatic BS. We need more like him. The host “all the wonderful environental friendly designs are made by our audience…..blah blah blah”. Alex..”you know, you all need to try harder” 😂😂😂😂

That was such a great interview with two amazing living legends. The first question had me in stitches and the ending with Jimmy and Chai's next film had me teary eyed. Looking forward to watching it.

Great interview. Speaking of design change and sustainability, perhaps Patagucci and North Face could consider not making clothing out of petroleum derivatives. That would be a great place to start for a number of reasons.

It's funny though to cast free solo climbing, which is inherently suicidal, as "life of purpose".

The problem with climate change is we are beings with an extremely short lifespan trying to make sense of cycles that are thousands of years long. The Earth is technically still on its way out of a mini ice age, so it's no wonder the glaciers are retreating and weather patterns are changing. There's been times where the global has been hotter and life has flourished more than any other periods we are aware of. We need to be more flexible with dealing with ocean levels rising, rather than watching govt banning farmers that grow our food because "cow farts" while they simultaneously create wars across the globe and fly private jets everywhere.

Agreed. What I would accept as a skeptic of the "official narrative" would be something like "Yes, climate is changing, and here's the undeniable proof of glacial retreat, etc. The prevailing theory holds that manmade CO2 is a contributing factor, but it's a complex situation and we don't understand all the factors. What we propose is to invest in public infrastructure like seawalls, and to shift toward viable ways to reduce our use of hydrocarbons, like building nuclear power plants and public transportation, making buildings more efficient to heat and cool, etc." Instead we get anti-human draconian laws, censorship, carbon credit schemes, etc. I think the days are over where anyone is concerned about this except people like glasses lady in their little urban NPR-listening bubbles. If they turn out to have been correct it's an own-goal, because they spent the last 20 years trying to sell a cure (global enslavement) worse than the disease (1 foot of sea level rise).

humans as a whole are very selfish. Everyone wants someone else to figure it out because everyone is thinks they are not doing anything wrong. I firmly believe that when huge floods and crazy repercussions are happening nobody will ever do anything about it.

In a single moment one can start nourishing and behaving according to our specie and many do just that. Reducing self to a mere detriment to all life on Earth and everyone's habitats is not a part of some natural cycle, it's a deliberate set of unintelligent choices. Individuals like you are the problem. Zero accountability. Zero ability to change. Zero access to reason and utter disregard for lives of others. There's absolute nothing sane, healthy nor natural about animal farming and no amount of you minimazing the most collosal atrocity ever committed by our kind will change that.

Its not about destroying all life on the planet, its about making life for HUMANS vastly more difficult, or even impossible. Whether climate change would be happening with or without us is not the question. Its how much we are affecting it and how our decisions will shape the existences of future generations. Humans have more power now than in any previous era of human existence, and while we may not be able to actually annihilate the planet we could through nuclear holocaust kill all higher forms of life, or put humans at risk of extinction, or even more simply consume all the easily consumed resources that make our current lives possible. The problem we're facing now is that governments and corporations are trying to say that its the individual that needs to pick up the slack, when in reality that's only a small portion of contributors and that its governments and corporations we need to hold accountable for addressing the large scale contributors to climate change.
