Alex. Thanks for keeping your fans up to date. Glad you made it back home with no issues. I've certainly enjoyed the great coverage of the race but sure missed having you be a part of most of it.
We would have loved to come to Gosport to cheer you in after really enjoying your race. Instead we had to be content with watching you coming home through the entrance on the Gosport webcam. Welcome home! Here’s to 2024!
Thanks for making the time to share, hope you feel welcomed to keep it up. Nothing more inspiring than seeing one give their best each day. Cheers from Ohio
Saw you reaching down the Solent in the sunshine this morning. Looked fabulous, enjoyed your updates, and I’m sure you have a Vendee win in your future so keep striving.
You certainly DID deserve applause and a warm welcome as some other people have said....argh...that moment has gone...that is terrible...so I applaude you from my home in Dorset!! Good on you Sir! We have to clean up the ocean...not only is it killing cetaceans and other wildlife..it's ruining some very beautiful boats!!!
Good to see you back home safely ! I popped to visit your boat in the V & A Waterfront between Christmas and New Year - amazing to see it up close ! All the best and I'm looking forward to what cones next :)
Hi, please Alex, and I mean this most sincerely spend the next 4 years making sure she is strong enough to complete the task, even if it means sacrificing a little speed for strength. After all I believe it’s not the fastest boat that wins, it’s the best skipper. Wishing you all the best for 2024.
Really glad to see you and the boat back home. Thank you for all the hard work, inspiration and determination from you and the team. Really look forward to your next updates. All the best 🌊💙
So glad you are home safe and I cannot imagine how awesome it was seeing your family again. I am a military vet and sadly I am used to spending lots of time away from my family as well. the sacrifices they make in our absence are well under appreciated. I cannot wait to hear what is on the horizon.
0:38 what's next is that chevalier Alex will study French intensively, and arrive in Les Sables d'Olonne in October 2024 totally fluent, and amaze everyone with how well he speaks French, and then go on to win the next two editions of the Vendée Globe. ALLEZ ALEX!
You are delusional mate , obviously you are a pommy lover , to start with Alex could not learn French if his life depended on it , second , Hugo Boss will always fail structurally as it was built in pommy land , third , the Vendée Glove will NEVER be won by a foreigner, so dream on sunshine , we will always have new young comers that will go on DOMINATING what has been a « French invention » thanks to Phillippe Jeantot , and « we the French » come up with the concept and design of the IMOCA , so there it is 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
@@DeeHutchy Un peu d'honnetêté intellectuelle SVP : The AIS was ON, the fishing boat had his trawl in the water (= restricted maneuverability). He called Boris on the VHF but he did not hear anything as he was sleeping deeply... that's what he says himself...what else ?
@@martinaston627 You sound like an angry, jealous, betrayed middle age wife. better seek treatment for that neurosis; it will not get better on its own. And what a ridiculous name is that you came up with? Maybe you should stick to cars instead. But get treatment first.
glad to see you home.. never thought much about sailing but your story was pretty cool.. has a lot to say about life in general... looking forward to more video..
The dam boat tried to fold in half!!!! not much work to do???? Mmmmm ....think you might find some delamination that needs tweaking... But well done for a fantastic effort...Glad you are home safe and planning to do it all again.. :-))) ps: 8,000 miles?? Which world did you sail around?? :-))
I think if you race more in preparation, in order to debug and prove the boat, and take it a little more easy in the race (see Boris as a fine example), then you can maybe be more successful.
Alex bring the Boss out too Australia show the Aussies how it’s done we need to get some interest and corporate backing to get some sailors competitive
a major sponsor, a major budget and a major failure. This must be a major disappointment for all the team and support, mother Nature is unforgiven and sooner or later ones will ask the pertinence of playing financial race around the world rather than common sens and humility.
AI ...seems to be making many occupations, non competitive, ..Alex was talking about gathering masses of data ..analayse, and have computer decide what’s best ....unfortunate I agree... The Jean Le Cam’s of the world will slowly become obsolete... Stephen Hawkins said that the Greatest threat to mankind is not ..global warming, pandemics, etc....but Artificial Intelligence taking over and making human kind unnecessary!
But surely you understand that so much of what makes the Imoca class and the Vendee Globe so exciting is the evolution and integration of technology. Every big step forward like swing keels and wing masts and now foils will inevitably require data and more data. Everyone is doing it in their own way, also in F1 but also with athletes of all sports, from soccer to athletics. Data has always been part of evolution. Alex and all his projects and boats were always exciting mostly because of the man himself. Data just adds safety and competitiveness. Alex could sail a bathtub to Ireland and it would still be exciting and fun to follow. So I don't feel that technology and data take away from the true soul behind all these campaigns: The sailors and their Teams.
