I went over this story in my first Eat Predators video but I've decided to go back over a lot of the first things I rolled into that first video now that I'm better at making videos. This video is about Alexa's deleted episode of Vulnerable, and about the Alexa Nikolas vs Christy Carlson Romano beef from 2023.
I said one hundred thousand but it said 1000+ in Caeli's twitter thread, that's a misspeaking on my part, but the real number is onscreen with the tweet AND I'm not sure where I saw the Corey Feldman episode being november of 2023, looks like it was in the spring Corey was on Vulnerable but i struggled to pin down the right date since that episode has now been deleted lol - Alexa addressed it in the fall, that date is correct and to my knowledge so is the date of the vulnerable episode Corey Feldman was in. apologies for that!

• alexa nikolas exposed ...
cheyenne's video:

As a lawyer… she is so insanely wrong. 1. An NDA cannot be broad or vague and the way she repeats that is mind boggling. 2. You can never be instructed to not tell your therapist and a therapist would never be subpoenaed bc it’s privileged information and protected. 3. An NDA is NOT enforceable if it is used as an attempt to prevent a crime from being reported. The way she said these things with her full chest is so reckless. If she actually knew what she was talking about it could’ve empowered her viewers by knowing they have rights.
@ophie-dokie

Thank you!!!! like I said in the video I felt pretty sure she was wrong but I'm so not a lawyer that I didn't just want to be like "wtf is she on why is she making people feel more unsafe than they are" but wow, really appreciate the backup from actual lawyers that this is reckless and incorrect misinfo she was sharing. Honestly, probably part of why Christy figured she might as well just take it down lol

@lydialake872 you’re point about missing an opportunity to empower her viewers is even more sad of a miss because bad actors especially those with institutional power may use the weight of their money or legal force to intimidate you into silence including lying about your rights under an NDA or construct an NDA with impermissible clauses. And if you have been victimized and don’t know the limits of NDAs you wouldn’t know that the parts of the NDA limiting your speech around criminality are unenforceable and illegal. It’s a super missed opportunity to give some legal power back to victims who are being bullied and lied to. Especially, omg, the therapist stuff she said. Just whoa!

@@ophie-dokie Making people feel more unsafe than they are, imo tracks very well with what you said about her knowing where the rile up buttons are, and making sure to press them Like in the sense that everything has to be top notch outrageous all the time (regarding situations that are already bad as they are and dont need to be embellished), even to the extent that were purposefully overlooking important facts and details of the situation (like idk, drake bell's victims) so that she can end up looking like an advocate and a savior But its truly a disservice to survivors really, bc they dont get to know about their legal options Idk if any of that made sense

I feel like it’s so insulting to reduce Jennette’s book to just being about her experiences on Nickelodeon. The book is literally called “I’m Glad My *Mom* Died.” It’s about Jennette learning to process the intense trauma caused by her mother, the person society says is supposed unconditionally love and protect you. The reason people loved that book is because it was thoughtful, vulnerable, and beautifully written, and many people resonated with it.
@ophie-dokie

I AGREE and I haven't gotten into this because, god save me, another video I'm making LOL, I want to talk about the artivism shit and something I want to talk about is it pisses me OFF that Jennette specifically referred to Dan as The Creator, possibly a legal thing, though I feel like her making it so clear that she was allowed to say whatever she wanted makes me suspect it's also as much an artistic choice, right?? She calls him The Creator and then Alexa wants to capitalize on it so she makes a sign with Dan and slime and says "THE CREATOR OF CHILDHOOD TRAUMA" and it's like. yeah. Jennette was telling us about that, but like... as you said, it wasn't the point of the book, in fact one of the points of the book was her not lingering on the fact that it was Dan, but it being Dan made it feel like it was something more like what Alexa makes her bank off of so Alexa wanted to attach herself. So proud of Jennette for saying no to what must be hundreds of requests to be in shitty podcasts and docs about all the Dan shit. She said what she wanted to, and yes that did open a bigger opportunity for people like Alyson Stoner to have conversations they were already having, maybe, but that's why I never class Jennette as an Advocate or anything, she's not.... trying to be! she doesn't have to be. I completely agree that it's the relationship with her mother that the book is about and why the book is beloved. I've said since I read it that that book would have been a culturally beloved memoir, like, maybe not nyt bestseller for forever, but a book people who love memoir love, even if her career had never been successful when she was a child actor.

Also, with regards to McCurdy the author, approaching the book as some sort of tell all greatly diminishes the brilliant literary accomplishment of writing a modern tragicomedy exploring the universal feelings of identification and rivalry between mothers and daughters. The message is not the same, the point of view is definitely different, but I found it reminiscent of Visconti's Bellissima.

Therapist here! Some of what she’s saying is true and some is definitely a misunderstanding. We are essentially sworn to secrecy because of HIPPA. What you tell us is confidential. However, we are also mandated reporters and do have to disclose some information, like if you’re threatening yourself or others, if a child is being hurt, or a dependent adult is being hurt, etc. We also CAN be subpoenaed for our notes, both physically written and electronic. In fact, it’s included in the social work code of ethics that it can happen. As a result, I keep my notes very vague and I never disclose information that is not explicitly needed. I’ve had to turn over my notes to the courts twice and learned my lesson fast. You keep information close to your chest to protect your clients.

It presents very chaotically when we're unmedicated or out of therapy (specifically DBT, nothing else works for the specific disorder) and could explain Alexa's current behaviours. We also, like you said, see everything in black and white, with partners we go from idealising to devaluing at the drop of a hat, with enemies we're unable to acknowledge any wrong of our own and will over-exaggerate our enemies' faults. I’m a survivor, and Alexa has truly always given me bad vibes, but any time I’ve shared that opinion with my chronically online friends, they’ve called me out for feeling that way about another survivor. Two things can always be true at once though. She can be a survivor, and also be someone who exploits the pain and suffering of others who are too.

thank you so much!! Yes, I have a handful of friends who voiced to me sooner than to anyone else and a few weeks before I decided to make my videos have also either been shot down by other people or just felt too guilty to say it at all that they had bad vibes. I really wanted to imagine she had positive intentions, and I remember I would watch streams every so often prior to her beef with the Ned's cast and be like "okay, this is weird but maybe.... maybe I just don't like the livestream format and I need to get over it, and she'll find her footing soon," and then she never did find the footing because I don't think there's much footing to find. I'm so glad you enjoy my videos so much, and Adam is excellent company to be in, thank you!!!

@@ophie-dokie this! When someone voices their advocacy for such noble causes, your natural inclination is to believe that they have to be “good” people with “good” intentions, and it’s jarring when you realize that maybe they aren’t. Nobody is a perfect victim, but it’s my absolute belief that being a victim of abuse of this nature doesn’t inherently make you a good person- a sentence that I feel intimidated to type. Abuse doesn’t discriminate. Alexa going through what she did with her ex husband breaks my heart, and maybe it did shape the way she subsequently turned out as an adult in many ways, but I do believe based upon stories she tells and those told by her peers that she very well could’ve been a mean girl when she was younger, and that maybe that’s never gone away. Regardless, I wish she’d put out some sort of apology video, as cliche as those have become, where she just expresses how out of control everything has gotten, and maybe provide some context as to where her brain has been at, and maybe it won’t excuse anything, but at least it would be better than hiding.

I became a huge supporter of Alexa, in large part because I resonated so much with her DV experience with her ex husband, within the music industry. So there is a strange tragedy that she has worked so hard to rebrand herself as a survivor of Nickelodeon. Because in Eat Predator’s original vision, in challenging the music industry, she really does have a story. But on the Nickelodeon end, it feels like she’s trying to claim other people’s stories. And that’s so weird and sad

yes!!! This is such a good point and also part of why I'm always so intentional that I don't question or doubt her experience with that regard, and it's a big shame she pivoted to something trendy rather than sticking with her original vision, and also telling I think how many people peeled away once it became about Nick and not about the original vision. There's obviously such huge need for activism in that space and she amassed people wanting to do that and vulnerable people and vulnerable people who want to do that and then abandoned them all for...... an abuser in the music industry. just because he had worked for the same tv network as her and they were in the same docuseries

I kind of think that Alexa rationalizes leaking that information to herself because she doesn’t think the minor is a victim. She probably believes Drake. And while that can be her (wrong) opinion, the girl was still a minor. And while they might not currently be a minor any longer, it is still disturbing to have released information that pertained to them as a minor. If someone put out my diaries I wrote as a child, I’d be mortified. Itd be a cruel thing to do. And those court documents are much worse than the depression I suffered as a kid. Like oh my god I don’t see why we have to explain that.
@ChristopherSadlowski
@ChristopherSadlowski 2 дня назад
I just can't understand how she doesn't see how unimaginably cruel that was? How can she not see how grossly she mishandled those documents!? Like...that's why the journalist who reached out to her was asked questions, because you don't just take "I have documents" at face value. Ever. They have to be corroborated and they need to be sure they're sourced appropriately. A journalist and their employer could get in big trouble if they have material of dubious quality and provenance. That's not to say that sources gathered under...less than legal...conditions can never be used, but the paper needs to make sure every base is covered before that material is released! I...just...is it me? Did I take crazy pills and I'm the paranoid one here? It feels that way!

Honestly I don't want to minimize bullying cause I was physically and verbally bullied for years in middle school/high school where teachers made things worse for me, but I'm 28 years old (4 years younger than Alexa) and I can't imagine retelling those things in the way that Alexa does... Because when you grow up you kinda realize that kids are just kids, products of their environment, and they really don't know wtf they are doing. Also, much more stressful things happen when you move out of your parents house and have to be an independent adult. Clearly Alexa didn't have to go through that phase in life which isn't surprising cause her mom sounds like a weirdo. I do not like Christy but her reactions were very understandable and I kinda love that she's such a delusional person herself that she didn't care to hide her reactions to what Alexa said. Kinda speaks to how irrelevant Alexa is. Alexa really needs some help, I experienced what I'd consider toxic friendships and some degree of bullying as a kid but I don't hold it over anyone's heads or consider myself a survivor at all. I went to an all girls high school and girls are mean to each other, we can be catty and tear each other women with mental games. My "friends" weren't that good for me, often treating me like the baby of the group when I was older than most of them, all because I had interests that geared younger (a maybe autistic, I show a lot of traits) but I went to therapy, I talked about it with a professional, they're the one that suggested a may have autism and should consider being tested, I don't have aggression towards any of those girls, I don't know what they were going through. I don't want to be their friend but I also hope they are in better places and got any help they needed. It disturbs me that Alexa lumps these typical childhood experiences in with people who have survived serious domestic abuse cases etc... including the stuff with her own ex husband. Adults on set should have sorted out issues between the cast but it is in no way comparable to what eat predators originally stood for. The way Alexa chooses to speak about Victoria Justice over what appears to be a minor fall out, saying she was worse than Jamie on a podcast when Victoria spoke of Alexa respectfully to me shows how differently they've processed events and Victoria appears to be in a healthier place. I still disagree with a lot of what the Ned's Declassified cast said on their podcast but I definitely think they had a point when they referred to Alexa as "intense". I do think a lot of Alexa's issues on Zoey 101 was because she was home schooled and she didn't understand how to interact with kids her own age. It's likely Jamie wasn't nice all the time but her lack of social understanding probably made these situations seem worse than they likely were and she exaggerates it more because it gets her views. Lumping these issues in all together, along with her lack of promotion for therapy and instead just an apology is so toxic and she's losing control. Her lack of training for advocacy is leading her to do so much damage, she maybe a survivor but herself and Eat Predators is not a safe place for survivors.

Hey, *ex-lawyer* current filmmaker here lmao. As a disclaimer, I'm portuguese and studied law here, but it would be shocking if what I'm about to say is incorrect, considering fundamental rights, human rights and international law. As another disclaimer about the law in general - one thing is what contracts and agreements say, another is what the law says and even another is your ability to know the difference, have the money to invoke it or, even harder, the money to enforce it. So a lot of contracts and agreements contain illegal clauses in them, but a lot of people don't know they're not enforceable and when they do, they would be thrown into mediation first, which is a very scary context in which you can be gaslit into thinking right is wrong and wrong is right. Regarding specific questions: 1) NDA's cannot include crimes. They just straight up cannot. 2) The language of what a crime is can be very confusing, so signing one of these things can lead you to think NDA's can include crimes without them even mentioning the word crime. The legality of the inclusion of civil offences in NDA's is confusing (I don't know enough about this) and a civil offence can sound like a crime to your as a reader who is just normally informed about the law. 3) For instance, sexual harassment is a civil offence not a crime. So you might assume you can't report crimes if you see that or you might assume a crime is just harassment. Sexual assault however is a crime, but knowing when something is sexual assault or not can be extremely confusing or made to be extremely confusing. What I feel she could be alluding to is someone in HR or someone in a position similar to that convincing you that something is not crime but a civil offence and confuse you. But it would be weird for an NDA to be signed after the fact, I'd say most are signed before anything as part of the working contract. Or before you engage with that person in any capacity. After the fact is weird, but I guess not impossible and maybe glazed with money that can convince you in one way or another because you need it. HR can also make it seems like you could loose your job or have it suspended for the purpose of investigation etc - just make it really confusing and scary. This is also illegal, but it's done. 4) An NDA can express that you can't mention that there is an NDA - demand confidentiality -, but in the cases of celebrities people just assume there is one, so that clause becomes kind of nulified because of people's immediate assumptions. 5) An NDA could say that you can't mention stuff to your therapist, but I don't think that's legal, cause it would hinder your possibility of accessing healthcare which is a human right, and also is unenforceable because therapists can't disclose information. The only cases in which a therapist can violate confidentiality is if a crime has been committed or could be plausibly committed, or if the patient/client is in danger or endangering others. Apart from that, in other circumstances, the patient/client would have to agree to the disclosure of the contents of their sessions. Also, only the contents relating directly to this even or extremely relevant to the crime committed can be revealed. It's not like they just handover everything. 6) Some language mentioned cannot legally be in an NDA, but that doesn't mean it's not. People can not know any better, because they're young, cause society doesn't teach people about these things enough, etc. Also, the language included in the NDA can be purposefully confusing, so you can read one and be like "wtf, I don't really understand this, but I guess it means this or that". 7) Lawyers do include a lot of things in contracts and agreements in general to scare you and to discourage you from doing anything about anything or feeling like you can't. It's not legal for lawyers to harass parties of interest to a case, that doesn't mean they don't find a way of doing it. In conclusion, lawyers are scary and can be terrifying, we mostly don't know shit about contracts and legal language is made to be confusing since its inception and can be made even more confusing. Also, the circumstances of seeing in a room with people who know more than you telling you something is legal and real is very vulnerable. Also, the idea of going against a rich person or company is terrifying. And this is why what is legal or not sometimes is not important, because that distinction requires a lot of money or you to be a lawyer and will probably cost you jobs and contacts. Considering that networking is everything in the film industry or music industry, you would just sign the thing anyway and hope for the best and then won't have money for the worst. Sorry that this is all over the place, but I'm too lazy too re-read it lmao. Love your content and the work you do here. Cheers

The purpose of an NDA is to protect a company’s business secrets from being leaked to its competitors, not to conceal/cover up a crime or prevent whistleblowing. For example, if Squidward was offered a higher hourly rate by plankton to become an employee of the chum bucket, his NDA at Krusty Krabs would prevent him from disclosing the secret krabby patty recipe. The NDA does not, however, prevent Squidward from coming forward about unsafe work conditions, or if Mr. Krabs was denying wages to his employees.

As a preface: I want to be clear that I do not revel in the spectacle of victims calling out their abusers, nor that of victims being imperfect. Also, I understand that while you strive to be entertaining, your content is not driven first and foremost by drama. That said, I cannot lie, I am utterly and completely fascinated by Alexa, her crocodile tears, her obvious (let's call them) fibs and exaggerations, her false equivalencies, her clumsy grifting, and, honestly, the fact that, in her husband, she has a willing and enthusiastic collaborator in all of this. Since first becoming aware of this matter, thanks in largest part to your videos, I have been compelled to check in on it periodically. While I have no reason to doubt that Alexa is the survivor of various forms of abuse (I am, after all, as are a lot of people, sadly) her advocacy is transparently self-serving and the endless flailing to salvage her ever-dwindling credibility has been riveting to behold. I thank you for your excellent coverage of this whole matter. I understand why it is important to draw attention to this sort of opportunism as it exists within advocacy spaces, but I can't lie, this has all been one heck of a show.

You can't make advocacy your entire schtick and then spell out abuse instead of saying it. It's trivializing and feels like it's almost denormalizing being open about abuse and advocating against

I can understand if a creator has to do this if their videos will always be taken down otherwise, but I don't think Alexa ever showed proof of this happening? Besides, on RU-vid it usually results in your videos getting demonetized. She is, or at this point, was getting a lot of funding thru donations via the Livestreams and patreon anyways, so having to spell out abuse and other words is unnecessary.

What Jamie Lynn said doesn't sound to me like she's accusing Alexa of spreading rumots, but rather that she's saying someone on set instigated the feud between the two of them by telling Jamie that Alexa was talking shit behind her back. She specifically said "I got the sense that a third party was trying to stir the pot between us." Jamie-Lynn is basically saying that Alexa's claim of bullying was overblown, that they WERE friends in the beginning, that a third party lied to Jamie about what Alexa was doing but that Alexa's smug mom didn't help the situation, and that they had a very normal middle school falling out that did not involve any bullying or violence. She's accusing Alexa of exaggerating but she's not accusing Alexa of being a bully herself. That being said, as someone who got horiffically bullied and humiliated in school for like 5 years straight, seeing Alexa cry about it on streams again and again as an adult in her 30s always makes me go "that's........it?" whenever I hear her "story of abuse" and I feel really bad about it.

I don't think I can ever get over her calling stuff like bullying, arguing, or just not wanting to be friends anymore abuse lmao. Also considering what I've heard from the bg, that Alexa has always been just as much of a mean girl, I have a hard time fully believing stuff happened between the girls the way she claims it entirely lol. It honestly just sounded like some young girls who didn't get along after awhile and bickered and weren't nice to each other and she labeled it as "abuse". The whole reason Brit yelled at her was because of shit that Alexa had said/done to Jamie. She's so strange, everything that ever happens to her is like the worst thing that could ever happen and she's always the victim. Now considering she called Adams "ratio" tweet abuse/bullying, I have an even harder time believing her entirely lol

This whole POV story of Alexa on Zoey 101 vs Jamie Lynn's side is reallllly emphasiszing that thing people say about how a huge percentage of how happy your life is has to do with positivity rather than circumstance. She could have moved on from this years ago, but her bitterness towards any perceived wrongs is making her MISERABLE. She's so busy making everyone's actions about HER that she doesnt seem to realize that she doesn't live in other people's heads like they do in hers.

Clarification for those that might not know this: "Working 9-5" is a phrase that refers to a traditional American business schedule of 9 AM-5 PM, Monday through Friday, which is a 40-hour work week. She's just referring to a standard work week as opposed to one that's more demanding with longer hours/expectations.

I reached out to Alexa in a discord call with other members of eat predators and I informed her about Aaron Smith-Levins victim from the ex scientology SPTV community. She led me to believe she was going to expose him, then when 'the victims story was problematic' she declined to help because the victim didn't want to be on her platform either. It was heartbreaking. I kept asking Alexa about it until finally I created a ticket and she finally commented telling me that she felt the survivor should tell her own story. It was such bullshit.

omg, ty for letting me know-- if you're interested in passing along any more details my way I would love to hear them, I'm not sure when I'm going to make a video about the discord but I'm absolutely planning on covering the discord and interactions people in it have had with her that expose the failings in her platform, I admittedly know very very little about scientology or about Aaron Smith-Levin, am I remembering right that that was her source for super confidently saying Ashton Kutcher had, like, called Danny Masterson after seeing his murdered date? It seems to be a pattern that she's very comfortable with a problematic source as long as it's the more sensational video to put out and get clicks....
@AliciaRT86
@AliciaRT86 3 дня назад
@ophie-dokie Yes that is correct! Aaron exposed that story about Ashton Kutcher. Aaron also attended court during Danny Masterson trial. I actually found Alexa's channel through Aaron Smith-Levin's youtube channel while she was protesting in LA outside of a scientology building. I feel she didn't expose him because he has a large following and she benefits from keeping the peace with him and his friends who are also creators. I would gladly talk more with you about my experience in the eat predators community and also the ex scientology community if you're curious. It's a lot lol. So much drama.

I remember in the beginning, before Alexa's reputation was publicly ruined, that the alleged stalker that she mentions occasionally came forward at one point and explained their side of the story. @ophie-dokie
@ophie-dokie 2 дня назад
a couple things about this, it's kind of complicated. I got reached out to by Shift actually way early into me working on these videos and with the existence of the restraining order and just my hesitance to get overly involved where things have gone legal, I declined to hear out that side of the story in private for the sake of being able to distance myself from Alexa accusing me of Colluding With Her Stalker and I never want to be like "Well, the court gave and upheld that RO for no reason" -- but the Good Morning Mayberry podcast is by one of the people Alexa refers to as her stalker and it has two episodes with Shift's side of the story, here's the one where Caeli was interviewed: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LfoO8R-_2jA.html the other one is called Hit Em High. I think it's definitely worth kind of examining critically, I think this is a situation where both sides have valid hurts and traumas, and I've said before in my first EP video, there's a whole thing where Alexa talks about "Being threatened with a picture of a gun" and the post from Shift really was just the patrick bateman american psycho meme and "you're a leftist, name everyone who's ever left you", and a list of names, including Alexa's, which like... there were other things named in the RO that made her feel unsafe, there were other former members of EP who said they felt unsafe with how Shift was behaving at protests etc. I also think I have read before that there was someone else she's referred to as her stalker as well and then leaves it vague sometimes if it's that person or shift when she's referring to being stalked. it's all very interesting but intimidating to even attempt to voice because it's hard to trust people will believe me when I say both "I think she genuinely felt unsafe" and "I think she might have overstated harm, as she has a pattern to do"

You know that expression “they don’t know what they don’t know”? I think that applies to Alexa in many situations. Her “it’s just a quiz, it’s just school!” comment about trauma credentials, 9-5 at Starbucks, constantly talking about sign design and printing when asked about advocacy work. Like she very transparently has no idea what she’s talking about if you work in the field she’s pretending to speak from a place of authority on. I see the lawyers saying she’s got a bunch of legal stuff wrong - I worked a lot of organizing jobs in the past and it’s also clear she’s got no clue about what goes into actual organizing / advocacy work. Probably part of why she’s so dismissive of the role others played in the early days of Eat Predators - she has zero awareness or understanding of the heavy lifting they MUST have been doing if her only contributions were what she described in this interview.
@drowsyfawn
@drowsyfawn День назад
Also: it makes total sense that as a former child actor, she’d have some gaps in her understanding of certain things. That’s fine! The problem is that instead of being self aware and humble about that and making an effort to broaden her understanding or learn from others with more experience, she’s just decided she knows better off the top of her head and is very defensive and dismissive. I believe she’s had good intentions (at least to start) in a lot of situations but her ego and her inferiority complex fuck her up every time.

Alexa is a person who when she was a kid, was sheltered and her mother probably consistently told her she was special or more than other people, this is indicated by her being best friends with her Mum. She went on Zoey 101 and her Mother probably didn't like the fact she wasn't the star of the show, and because Alexa is sheltered or propped up, she feels like this too. So her Mum hangs around the set starting trouble because she wants Alexa to be number one. Everyone else is aware of this, that's why the Network doesn't cave to their demands. Because of this, Alexa developed Narcissistic traits which are so insanely clear in all of her videos. Shes so damaged because she felt like she should have been rescued or people should have caved to the demands and she's spent all of these years being bitter about it. I still don't feel like she's mad about the "abuse", that's why she keeps doing this, she's mad that she wasn't number one and the world didn't fall at her feet. The ironic thing is she's actually become an Abuser like Corey and Drake. And she knows this inside herself, that's why she hardcore defends herself and her actions, she can't admit things to herself which is peak Narcissism.

I’ve been engaged in community-based/collective organizing and what might broadly be called activism (a term I sometimes cringe at but that’s a whole essay in and of itself) for most of my adult life and what gets me about Alexa is that I feel like she made a series of extremely common mistakes for someone coming into community organizing from a privileged, somewhat out of touch background to make… and then just seems to have relentlessly doubled down over and over any time she gets any kind of pushback. Her eagerness to talk to reporters and be the one interviewed in all the news articles is such a big red flag for anyone who has worked on real protest campaigns. Nobody running an actual protest campaign in a serious way talks to reporters and media like she does. You know who does? College kids getting their first taste of leftist protest culture. They get all hopped up on the righteousness of their cause and start telling themselves that anything they do in service of that cause can’t be criticized without criticizing the cause itself, then they run their mouths to reporters who are eager to spin a narrative around their bold claims because that’s their job. That’s why actual community organizers running protest campaigns will do media training, sometimes with other key volunteers and protest leaders, and agree on talking points together before engaging with press. I’m positive that with her relatively high profile and the level of attention and mobilization around her cause at the outset, if Alexa had fostered relationships with other activists in the space she was in instead of treating them like her competition (another HUGE faux-pas on an organizing level, and one that shows how little she understands about community organizing and collective action) she would have had conversations with people who would have told her how to better handle all of this and been willing to steer her in a more useful and, dare I say, relevant direction. But that would have required her to not make her whole group The Alexa Show and clearly that’s beyond her. I have to admit when you started covering this, I thought, oh, another social media famous woman behaving badly while everyone wrings their hands about how bad she is until she inevitably has a nuclear meltdown on public social media platforms that the commentary channels may feast upon. Meh! But I think the celebrity/child star angle of this is really the least important or interesting angle. In Alexa’s behavior you can see so many examples of things that bougie white people do wrong in community organizing, famous or not, lmao. Really this could be a case study that aspiring social workers have to write a paper on in their first year of an MSW degree.

Also I laughed out loud when she said she wasn’t worried about getting arrested. Yeah, no shit!! I’m sorry I just… that doesn’t shock me at all. It is very funny though. It’s funny because she was never gonna get arrested for her demonstrations. She never did anything that could put her at actual risk of arrest, so it’s funny to hear her and CCR acting like that’s a real risk she needs to think about, like these two wHite whwomen going “omg are you in danger?” “Girl I think I’m in danger tee hee!” I’ve BEEN arrested at protests more than once. If this woman so much as got breathed on by a cop I will… idk, double my donation through OOB this shabbat.
@ophie-dokie
@ophie-dokie 2 дня назад
right!! I understand her not being afraid of she herself being arrested but I feel like if I was asking large groups of people who were more vulnerable than I was to come protest with me I might want to know that I know what to do if anything went down? And I think your point in your original comment about the eagerness for press vs how actual organized movements appoint specific representatives is a really great one-- also interesting that she wanted to do that but then now finds her role as "spokesperson" offensive when she's referred to that way in Kat's email. And I agree with you that it's this broad overreach from Advocating For Child Stars to wanting all this credit for victim advocacy that she doesn't do anything to earn but still wants to present herself as being qualified to speak for All Victims and be the Lead Survivor. And then to see the pattern of all the actually accredited and well meaning activists who had been trying to work with her at first all being cast to the side once EP had any legs... it's just all so much

a lot of it is vagueries. There's one story that came up later that she began to tell in specifics where she got hit on the back of the head and that one was something that was left in the clip, she showed it in the just trish podcast, and it..... listen. this is going to make some people mad at me. it looks like it was an accident, that story didn't used to come up at the same frequency as the story about Kristin allegedly pushing her into a rock (that one's not in the show or claimed to me from my knowledge) or Britney yelling at her. Sounds like being excluded, primarily, and those two instances of physical stuff & also the water gun thing she mentioned in this. Which I'm not unsympathetic to but I also think (and I am saying this as someone who was homeschooled the whooole way through) a lot of people who experienced similar in their formative years now either call that bullying not in a way that's interchangable with "abuse" or just... don't talk about it as much as Alexa does. it's fine and very understandable that this was a very negative and traumatizing experience for her but I think there's a lot of work to frame it as like, a Nick issue and not an "I love my mother but she should have known I wasn't ready to be working yet and she should have taken me off the set after or during season one if it was truly that bad and not solvable".

Christy rarely mentions a lot of what she went through because it's not the point. The point is to help more people dealing with the same thing. While Alexa is telling her story over and over again but doesn't really look to help anyone at all. She just wants clout.
