this is a nuanced look at Eat Predators, an activist organization/youtube channel founded by Alexa Nikolas, and what I perceive as some of its shortcomings, including the fixation on "apology activism" and the forgiveness campaign for Drake Bell.
My usage of clips from Eat Predators daily falls under "fair use" and it is not defamatory to hold activists to account for what they advocate for and the ways they do it. I do not discredit Alexa as a survivor for what she has lived through with her ex husband, with nickelodeon, with Dan Schneider, or with any other allegations she has made. I do, however, find something insidious about her brand of activism, and after she was able to distance herself so far from Christy Carlson Romano regarding their fight about Corey Feldman's episode of Vulnerable, the decision to like all of Drake Bell's posts and platform him so hard struck me as impossible to ignore. This is a feminist analysis and critique, and though it is meant to be constructive it is not meant to directly address Alexa or to ask for a response from her.
