My usage of clips from Eat Predators daily falls under "fair use" and it is not defamatory to hold activists to account for what they advocate for and the ways they do it. I do not discredit Alexa as a survivor for what she has lived through with her ex husband, with nickelodeon, with Dan Schneider, or with any other allegations she has made.

hi im just finally finishing this up! you mention in this that i'm a founder and i just wanna point out i wasn't a founder and don't want to take credit away from the people who were truly there in the beginning building it! i came in maybe a month or two after the first diplo protest after she invited me to the original discord when it was first created. i was offering to help volunteer early on before that but i had no contribution in establishing what at predators was supposed to be. i appreciate you giving a platform to everyone who's been harmed by alexa and this once again was really well done 💜

I wonder if it's possible that Alexa is using other people's trauma continuously recenter herself, because she simply hasn't done the actual trauma work involved in healing with an actual good therapist... I am speculating that she may be constantly seeking re-validation from her audience for her trauma because she can't find that validation within herself. This is a part of why it can be common for abuse survivors to "trauma dump" prior to extensive therapy, because as most us are never believed or validated by the people in our lives who actually matter, so we end up seeking that validation everywhere else, from everyone else. This isn't an excuse btw. Alexa is responsible for Alexa. It's just sad to witness someone so willfully ignore all the resources and privileges made available to them to truly continue on the journey to heal. . . in favor of capitalizing on other peoples trauma for clicks and views.
@kissarococo2459

Yes! I know a woman who was raped as a child and traumadumps on complete strangers she meets but refuses therapy on religious grounds. She does not get how a woman relaxing in a spa might not want an earful of her disturbingly detailed account but is too polite and shocked to ask her to stop.
@BrinaRyce
@BrinaRyce 5 месяцев назад
@@kissarococo2459Yep. That's sadly not all that uncommon and always so hard to witness. And unfortunately, some people also tend to try using it as an excuse to assume that a surivivor is "making it all up" bc they can't fathom why anyone would be relaying such horrific events so offhandedly to people they barely know or someone they just met. Most ppl simply don't have experience in recongizing what surviving trauma actually looks like. Healing doesn't just happen; it takes a lot of active and continuous work that not everyone may have easy or affordable access too. My grandmother was an alcoholic, and for her alcohol was the trigger that would have her relaying all the worst of her childhood trauma to me. It broke my heart to see her in her late 70s, still needing to repeat the same stories I had already heard her tell me before a hundred times over--but yet be so unwilling to hear my own story without re-centering herself, because she couldn't face the intergenerational trauma that was so woven into our whole family tree. But she was also the reason I became more determined to seek professional help, because I knew I didn't want to live to be her age, and still needing to relive the worst parts of my life just so I could hear someone tell me they believed me. I really hope Alexa figures this out for herself at some point but she's in the absolute worst place to do so. Everyone trying to offer her any sort of nuanced ounce of criticism is either a bot, another villainous enemy. She appears to be too wrapped in her own narrative that she's both unwilling and incapable of recognizing that is paving the path to her own destruction. She's her own worst manipulator at this point.

Tbh...something about Alexa never sat right with me. Although I believe she went through traumatic experiences as a child actor, she often finds a way to center herself in a lot of situations when she should be passing on the mic. Her flipping the script about Drake Bell has been so odd as well. I can be upset over the child Drake Bell being abused, but adult Drake Bell is trying to sweep his own mistakes under the rug. His victims are being silenced and called liars which is harmful.

Long story but I was friends (for a short time) with one of DB’s ex-girlfriends. It was 2007 and she told me so much about how he was to her when they dated. I already didn’t like him anymore because of her stories. After dating her, he dated another (very young) woman who proceeded to witness and be victim to DB’s behavior and would sometimes reach out to my old friend since she could relate and understand. Fast forward to now. My old friend is no longer alive to speak out. The woman DB dated after her has spoken out and Drake went on a mission to try to discredit what she said. When he pleaded guilty, I felt relief that others now saw Drake for who he is and some of what he has done. Some. Now that he has spoken out about his awful abuse, which should be called out, it’s suddenly like everyone forgot he is guilty. Everyone forgot he isn’t a good guy. Now he’s back to releasing music and doing interviews that paint him as only a victim. I’m angry, to be honest. I was previously trying to get more people to watch Alexa’s videos but now she does THIS? Nah.

I watched these out of order but my take on DB is that the internet will froth at the mouth to give a white man of any level of fame online a redemption arc: Shane Dawson, James Charles, Jeffree Star, Drake Bell; they’ve all faced similar things but they’re never actually held accountable for what they’ve done.

Her exact reaction to Angelique's video... not only am I speechless, but it was like waking up via electric shock after being under a spell. Like you said SO perfectly - startling and immediate. I hate this reality. EPD really is Alexa's vehicle to fawn over herself and be fawned over, likely due to her emotional maturity level partially stunted as the 12 year old getting bullied for things she couldn't help about herself as a tween (more childlike and very quick to cry, having stuffed animals)

How is someone going to say someone is “stupid enough to believe a little girl” when we are talking, over-archingly, about a whole series of things where we ALL should have listened to and believed all of those little girls who were harmed by Nickelodeon, by Dan Schneider, by Drake Bell. In fact, we could just as easily defend Brain Peck and say “You are stupid enough to believe some little boy” when talking about Drake Bell all those hears ago. It’s just a disgusting supposition even to pose. OF COURSE you listen to the little girl (and the little boy) who tell you they are being hurt. That’s not being stupid; that’s protecting children.

Oh yea……. after how she treated me I had people messaging me worried I might kill myself because of how rude she was and more than one said they think she is a mean girl to certain types she doesn’t like and they said me being native and pretty made her hate me and I just wanted a community to heal!!! So now I am working on creating my own platform because I see I have better leadership skills and I have clearly done more healing than her because I have MS and was bedridden and taught myself to walk again after 2 years. I don’t want to be like her so I am taking a break from posting and working on healing to a certain degree before I come back. I learned that when it comes to healing trauma people can only help others heal the level of trauma they survived and to the level they healed. So I am working on healing to a level that I feel is needed to achieve my dreams of uplifting everyone impacted in healthier ways. As a mixed race native that survived child grooming and different types of trafficking she just hurt me and I work to grow stronger and wiser from every wound which makes me more resilient. I hope she learns to do the same so she can have a healthier impact on herself and everyone else she is impacting consciously and unconsciously. To me this should only be about the health of us all so we can evolve together. That is not what she is doing and I don’t want to make others feel the way I felt so I will work to be better for us all. More of us need to, to actually turn this around we all need to work together. They win when we are divided.

YES I completely agree!!!! and even the clip she was showing as evidence she got hit I had to keep going back and watching. Like I saw it happen but she was talking about it like it was super intentional and obvious and it seemed more like the kind of like "lol whoops" shoving/bullying that happens in school when people get pushed around which is like... bullying is wrong but not exactly the same thing as institutional abuse. But she really does seem about as upset that Victoria Justice didnt stay her bestie forever after getting the job as she does about anything else that happened with Nick and Dan and it confuses me deeply.

Most likely because the bullying she alleges happened is a fabrication, mixed with half-truths. I hear way more about Alexa not being a nice person than any of those people. I think there’s more merit to having a track record than all the “he said, she said” and gaslighting she’s been doing.

I felt the same way! Her gripes with people because of how they acted as CHILDREN was concerning to me. As much as I, as someone who was bullied as a child, can empathise with that pain, much of my frustration about that time is directed at the way that bullying was dealt with by adults, but I struggle to place blame, now as an adult, on those children. Not to be an arm chair psych, but it feels to me that there is a lot of healing she still needs to do and I imagine having an echo chamber audience prevents that.

I definitely agree that she centers herself like Christy C does.

I found you through Adam McIntyre and I’m in love with your content! I also just want to point out a very small error - when Drakes victim was speaking in court, she was giving a victim impact statement, not testifying under oath or under the penalty of perjury. (I’m an attorney and have worked in prosecutors’ offices so I’m familiar with the process) It isn’t a huge error but I think it’s important to make the distinction before one of the DB defenders tries to weaponize that. I love what she stands for, but she does give the energy of a girl who would tattle on you to the teacher for not wanting to be her friend. I was bullied relentlessly in middle school, and I don't think about my bullies ever as a 28 year old. The way she hates Jamie and Victoria is weird to me, or the way she frames adult Jamie and Victoria around their 12 year old selves admitting they are not close. I think there's a strong correlation between being socially loud and being insecure. I've never met a secure person who wants to be the face of a large social media platform and be loud and opinionated to strangers. Insecure people tend to teeter their beliefs to be accepted, and as we know from her story she has always strived for peer acceptance. I think she needs a little more true self love, and maybe be a little less passionate about what she's gonna say if she's gonna flip-flop. As I've aged and found myself I find myself needing to share less about myself, especially my past. I couldn't ever imagine being so bothered by someone, especially over a decade later, that I'd need to sit down and make a feature length video on how they hurt my feelings. I'm naturally stoic so maybe I'm missing something, but I personally would never want to be friends with her solely about from how easily she'll talk about someone who's not a PDFfile or Pre-dator on a podcast dedicated to that topic.

She disliked drake bell until he got a second wind by announcing he's a victim. Then she conveniently forgot that drake bell is a monster that continues the cycle. Edit: she says she can't be compared to Christy C Romono because she didn't give drake a platform because he wasn't on her show. They don't have to be on your show to give them a platform. You give them a platform every time you talk about them. It's just convenient that she won't talk about him now because she was "bullied" about the video. She knows she quietly took down the video and all she had to do was make a tweet about why the video was down. If she planned on making a correction video, all she had to do was say so. But no, she was bullied so now she can't put the video up. She's a professional victim

She got divorced and suddenly sued the Mikey guy but she dropped all charges. She got remarried and has a kid and she's what, 32 now? I feel like as strongly as she says shes the victim and how angry she gets, that she wouldn't have dropped the charges if she felt she could win She has this mentality of believe survivors no matter what, if you catch them in a lie, it doesn't matter because they say they are survivors according to them. People have had their life ruined because someone who wasn't a survivor claims they are. Believe but verify isn't a thing with her and she's telling her crowd that you don't need any proof. I just have one criticism and it has less to do with Alexa or just a particular point that you brought up that I feel misses the point about journalism and the overrall structure of society. So, having said that, I respectfully disagree with the notion that people should get paid by journalists for sharing their stories. Firstly, because it suggests rather unitentionally that when a specific piece of say investigative journalism gets published, the reporter in a staff position is making a profit solely from the particular story and if its included in an issue of a magazine or a paper that they're entitled to the profits from that copy rather than being compensated as a function of their salary which they would receive regardless of whether or not story goes into print. That alters in a freelance context but even there a writer only gets paid once for the writing of the piece not the decimination that occurs after it's published. Secondly --- and most importantly--- providing subjects with monetary compensation replaces the point of journalism with the logic of capitalism: the notion that nothing is sacred and must bare a price tag if its any worth. The entire point of reporting/journalism is to provide citizens with necessary information about their society in both the macro and the micro, so the information being broadcasted is supposed to be as accessible as possible. To start offering money to those who would be interviewed would signal to the broader world that critical information should be priviliged because now you are not motivated by the purpose of trying inform on a reality like whether or not your government commited war crimes but now a need to make sure your immediate material needs are the top priority, not whether or not the information you have being made public could be possibly better the rest of our lives. Within this problem emerges another problem which is how are you going to decide how much informants get paid? Papers could try to set a fixed amount but informants would argue that the amount offered is not enough so it would follow logically that papers would cave and just give people exactly what they want because they can't not have the information. In a time when newspaper budgets are already thin to disseapearing (an issue that might not get resolved soon) so staff margins are shrinking and resources like fact checkers can't be acquired papers would invitably fold because they wouldn't be able to keep up with having to pay informants what would likely be ridicolous fees for conducting interviews. You get into dangerous territory when you start giving items arbitrary amounts, look at the way we treat housing in America. Having all of the issues with the idea you presented bare, it would be foolish of me not acknowldge why you likely came to that conclusion. The implication is that interview subjects are often poor/don't have access to resources needed in order to survive, so offering them money in exchange for information would somehwat elimeriate their suffering and even the plainfield . That's a very compassionate and humane conclusion to come to given the circumstances but what it does it higlight the fail to highlight the larger elephant in the room in a meaningful way. It shouldn't be the job of private individuals or private instutions to care for the rest society out of pocket. Rather, we should be pushing to reshape our governments in a way where we are provided sufficient economic resources to live a life of dignity. I can speak to this as somone who was born to a Danish mother and having actually done a good portion of my university experience in Denmark and the greater Scandinavia, having governments that provide economic safety nets is a great way to go and I really can't advocate for it enough. I bring this up to say that I don't think you're a bad person or anything of that sort (quite the opposite) but could just that your strain of thinking on that issue is just a product of you and others being raised in a purely American context so there's no avenue to expand our collective imaginations on how to resolve this issues in truly meangful ways. I'm just worried that if the idea of paying people for their stories became popular it would embolden corperate and wealthy America would use it as a vehicle for making journalism more restrictive, which it already has. This is why the biggest news stories about national and international occurances are behind big pay walls on established news sites like the New York Times. I hope you find this constructive.

1:20:25 this one really hit me hard, because while again, bullying is difficult, its hard to deal with, its upsetting, sure. Not dismissing those feelings, but to hear someone say "i was a victim of child abuse" and to go "it sounds like we had similar situations in terms of bullying" is so so centering herself that im almost flabbergasted. Because Angelique was not "bullied", that is, without dismissing its own effects, not as bad a word as what she went through

I have finally finished both these videos and I want to make a comment. It will be lengthy but I’m excited to talk about it ❤ I had been watching Alexa very loosely for a few months. I’m not a podcast person either so I’d just scroll through here and there. I really wanted to support her because I saw Eat Predators was for all survivors of abuse. I am a survivor of CSA, and I wanted to be in a space where I didn’t feel so alone. But I saw how it changed to only being about survivors in the film or music industry. Which had me kind of confused since she has talked about this being a movement for survivors by survivors, but shifting it to only be focused on survivors of the industry keeps it pretty closed. I thought maybe I was wrong for feeling that way, but it seems I wasn’t alone in that thought. I don’t understand her giving so much shit to the kids who bullied her. I was severely bullied too. And as much as bullying affected my life, I don’t ever think about the specific people who bullied me in a way of “Damn that Jessica. You may have bullied me when we were 11 and now we are 24, but I STILL despise you”. Nowadays I just hope that they grew and changed. Also the streams of her showing the inappropriate content, like the kissing videos, Ariana Grande’s videos, or the Amanda Bynes website??? Why would you do that??? They are survivors just as much as you and they did NOT consent to that. Yes Nick posted the kissing video on their RU-vid channel, that doesn’t give her the right to showcase that on a stream and be gagging and saying “Ewww! Gross! Look at that!” Just awful behavior. And the last thing I want to touch on is my absolute anger at her always having to make shit about herself. If you want to be a platform for survivors to feel safe and seen, why do you insert your own shit into it constantly? That’s disgusting behavior. You should not be running a “movement” like this if you can’t put your own issues aside and give space to people who need it. Even though truthfully nobody has even come to her podcast to talk about it. It’s like you said, it’s presented as gossip in the way she talks about it. It’s the same reason I don’t watch the h3 podcast despite loving their old videos on h3h3productions. I don’t like gossip podcasts where it’s just people talking about serious allegations/stories from someone else. I had no idea about the Drake Bell podcast she had deleted or all the horrible things she’s done to members of Eat Predators. I’ll probably still keep an eye on her channel out of morbid curiosity if she’ll change, but I won’t be a supporter any longer. Now I will be starting your Girl Defined video because that’s another topic I have been deep diving into for a long time now. I’m a deconstructed Christian as well and it’s wild watching what Girl Defined has become since I did used to watch them here and there as a young Christian afab. Love the channel ❤❤

To my understanding.. Alexa needs to raise money for the cause somehow. Then she can keep doing what she's doing. However, despite agreeing with her cause, I do get some unsure feelings about her sometimes, so I have been treading lightly.. and I really don't like how she said she "wont be bullied" into re-explaining her opinion on Drake....then what is her channel for? If not exposing predators like him?? I don't get it. I get that she feels attacked, but c'mon.. she should have known that deleting that video out of nowhere would not be a good look, and therefor she should have given us a fair warning before deleting that video. She should understand why people reacted the way that they did, and she could have explained herself in a more productive way. Just my opinion. @MJBowie
@MJBowie 5 месяцев назад
I don’t believe that armchair psychology with such a diagnosis is the most productive approach. Many people get called narcissist these days when those could be very clear signs of many other things instead. We don’t see the whole picture like a psychiatrist would in other settings. It’s just not necessary and is distracting from rthe true faults. The problem with that kind of label is that people no longer approach the “narcissist” as someone who can learn and change her faults. Shouldn’t it be our goal to want positive change? I would love for her to listen to what we’re saying but who would listen if we’re just treating her like a narcissist? Anyway, psychology doesn’t work the way you’re approaching it. Be more careful. The words we use do matter.
@ophie-dokie
@ophie-dokie 5 месяцев назад
I agree with this response from @MJBowie!! I think there's a lot less hope that Alexa could do better if we sort her as a Narcissist than if we acknowledge that she has tendencies to be self centering and hypocritical, and that ends up with her actions having some of the same side effects but not quite the same root cause as full on narcissism, if only because I think sorting into "narcissist" loses us some nuance the same way sorting into "predator" does and makes people defensive of Alexa a little less likely to hear out what we're saying. I definitely agree though that you can tell how much she enjoys having notoriety for this and that combined with the mistruths/hypocritical moments/constant self centering it really, really damages her ability to be taken seriously

I really can’t stand hearing about the Johnny Depp “bot farm” crap. Maybe there was some online campaign he was paying for, idk about all that because I developed zero of my opinions about that case based on social media. I watched the trial start to finish, I went into it not knowing anything nor being a fan of either of them, and I agree with the verdict. I agree that Amber was the primary physical aggressor, even if you don’t like the words Johnny Depp used to describe her. I don’t like how he spoke either, but there’s only evidence of Amber being physically abusive and manipulating evidence. This is part of my problem with Alexa too. She said out loud that Johnny’s words were abusive and therefore she stands by Amber… sorry, words don’t excuse hurling a huge glass bottle at a person and cutting their finger off just because you’re a woman and he’s a man. And Amber had plenty of abusive words of her own. The double standard for male victims pisses me off. Women can be abusers too and it doesn’t negate your feminism and advocacy to admit, even embrace, that provable fact. Regardless of how people are speaking about it online, the trial was based on evidence and testimony from both of them, not social media, and the evidence painted a VERY clear picture. And that’s how I feel about Alexa’s claims about bot farms too. Regardless of what’s happening on twitter or wherever else, I’m not paying attention to that to develop my opinion. My opinion comes from watching HER videos, from listening to HER words, from seeing HER actions. The bot farm bullshit is a deflection and an excuse.

She's always calling it an organization and a movement and never being upfront about the fact that it's a stock company for profit. I wouldn't have cared enough to need to dig in deep if she was being upfront about that the way say, Christy Carlson Romano is with Vulnerable and her youtube channel, that's all very clearly Business and people who interact with it I think understand that a bit more than the people interacting with Eat Predators do. I also agree with this reply that the age of the audience probably does really impact people not thinking more critically beyond just "well this person went through something I haven't lived through so they can't do anything wrong or I'm asking them to be a perfect victim". Self serving I think is a pretty perfect summarization of what Eat Predators became once Alexa got full control over it

If you've been through anything bad (and I think you know what I mean by "bad") you can definitely spot that kind of person a mile away. DB raised that red flag for me, the moment I began reading about him. (I did not know who he was until this year, I am too old to have watched his TV shows, so I had only heard his name. So I decided to read up on the controversy) Just looking at his photo made me cringe. I'm not calling him unattractive, I'm talking about recognizing the kind of person he is... I don't even want to remotely get into the kind of men I've had to endure in my life, because this is not the place to do it. But in my opinion, DB has those vibes. 100 percent! He has fans left? Really? Well, these days, I'm not surprised. SMH. And honestly, I don't get the problem people have with Alexa. It's scary enough for me to leave this comment, let alone do the kind of public work she has done, TRYING her damndest to bring justice to the world. Sorry, you said you got a red flag AFTER reading about him, I assume it happened while you went through the whole situation. I haven't picked a side yet, if it's even needed, but I started to have a crumbly opinion about her when commenters started pointing out how she was talking about certain people, but ignoring others she was working with. Now, I don't like the mentality that you have to know everybody's past before you are friends with them, or that you should shun anybody that doesn't align with you, but with the vocality she has about certain -rightfully enraging- topics such as grooming and child SA, some people assume she will keep those friends away and stop associating with them. Also, yeah some people learn after making a few of similar mistakes, others don't though. I also didn't like the analysis Alexa made of DB's body language, because yeah he had a smirk, but if I have to be honest to me she looks like she's faking a more compassionate face for the sake of the podcast, so what should I go with? I think she still has a lot to unoack, which she probably will have for all of her life, but if you are talking publicly to help people out, you should try to be less fluctuating in your opinion and reason with your audience about why you had this shift. I'm neutral in this moment, but I unsubscribed from Alexa for now.

She is a public figure running a movement - it's very concerning to me that you don't think that leaders shouldn't be accountable for their hypocritical behaviors. There were plenty of her viewers who came to her with good faith criticisms and she hand waved all of it by calling it "hate". As an ex-fan of EP, some common criticisms of her are: Going on trisha's podcast, going on Megyn Kelly in general. Selling overpriced merch right after quiet on set without discussing it with/compensating any quiet on set survivors. Deleting her drake bell live stream that showed the survivor talking in court about her trauma and impact statement and Alexa refuses to show the survivor any care by not following up on it. Naming and shaming actual survivors in the community with their full names and pictures (some call that doxxing) on live streams. Some of those people were from her now defunct discord that have detailed their mistreament by Alexa as well. She wasn't starving before the merch and she won't starve after - her channel memberships, live donations and patreon supporters are plentiful.
