IAM LUPITA RIOS FROM GUADALAJARA MEXICO.I AM 76 YEARS AND ALL MY LIFE I HEARD CLASIC MUSIC BECAUSE MY FATHER PLAYED PIANO AND ALL MY LIFE I SAW MANY PIANO PLAYERS. BUT NOW I SAW THE BEST OF ALL ALEXANDERALAFEVV. EVERY DAY I SEE HIS VIDEOS. MY HEART IS WITH HIM I WANT TO SEE HIM IN MY COUNTRY.
I can say with assurance the Medtner was a favorite of Vladimir Horowitz..he told us that at a party I attended in NYC during the bicentennial events....Malofeev plays these in an otherworldly way magnificent....
Dear Alexander, I have been listening to your playing for many years - and you have always surprised me, again and again ... I am thankful and am looking forward to a future full of your excellent, wonderful music ...
This music reach my soul and Alexander is the medium bc there is something magic he are transmiting to the audiences. Amazing musician in connection with God, the best nowadays.
Went to listen to him live two days ago, he played Rach 2 and this piece as an encore! It was one of the greatest experiences of my life, he made me feel so many emotions to an intensity I had never experienced them before... Amazing pianist, artist and human being
How lucky! Where was the concert held? It must have been an amazing experience :-) I can only dream ☺️💜 How did you enjoy his rendition of Rach 2? His Rach 3, which he played in Korea (I only got to listen to it online) contained so much delicate and soft beauty unlike other people's interpretation! Xx
Going to see him for the 3rd time in April. Once in Russia, then Frankfurt and now Munich. Edit: I bought tickets for both nights in Frankfurt, so that's 4. :)
@@maximiliankoch892 you can find a link to one of his performances of this piece here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tzvg7vlsPhQ.html The piece is Medtner's "Canzona Serenata", Op. 38 No. 6
Having had the opportunity to witness some of the greatest pianists in my short 74 years, Alexander…(I believe) is the most brilliant and gifted technician today! Listening to him is a if the composer was present❤
Alexander is in a deep trance state within the matrix of the music; we are literally watching him have the most intimate conversation with the music while having an out of body experience. To listen to him play is to commune with the cosmos. 🔥✨
Reading through the comments as to whether Alexander enters some altered state when he performs ... I know not, although I have always believed that he does most assuredly play from some secret place deep within himself ... but he absolutely has the ability to put ME in an altered emotional state ... transfixed ... overwhelmed ... unexplainably captured ... bravo Alexander!
It does feel like he was in an altered state and I believe that he is. This hour solo is a demonstration. Watching him, the way he 'protects' the piano with his upper body, his facial expression which is not for show but for himself, all reminds me of Glen Gould playing Bach. Different music but the same approach and interior feeelings. Gould would murmur to himself and was completely lost to the surroundings. I met him right after a concert and his mother indicated that he was not 'with us' yet.
And how he holds that trill!!............ going right to the edge. Suspending everything and altering time. Entirely inside the music, he plays from within and this is his genius. I wonder when the world will come to recognize who it is we have in our midst.
@@ts78714 I do not argue with your sentiment. I listen to Alex and others here and marvel at the work and dedication they and their teachers and coaches lovingly give to US. The brutal amountl of work they all put in is beyond our comprehension or appreciation.
Merci.
❤😊 Beauty on so many levels, it is hard to know where to begin. However, this fan is fully aware of the many hours of practice Alexander puts in. But as he himself has admitted, he doesn't mind it so because music and the joy of it makes practice easier for him.
Me llega a mi alma y ❤ .
This is my favorite Medtner piece❤️Medtner writes a lot of wonderful piece, but it's not played at all because it's not well known in Japan🇯🇵🥺I'm happy to listen Metnel's music so wonderfully played✨
Despite all the bitterness and animosity over the invasion of Ukraine, here we have a reminder of the wonderful artistic talent among some Russian people and their contributions. May he not burn out or become disaffected by public attention.
Dear Sumin, This must be an encore after a concert in the Moscow theater . In spring 2022 he had to move to Berlin so he could easily travel the world. Thank you so much for posting such beautiful music of Medtner played by Alexandre who breathes music, his first love. 🌷(Holland)
I believe spiritually we all reincarnate, we choose to come back and each time we learn and experience more. You often see very young children 18 months old playing a tune on a piano. Young children often display musical talents from a previous lifetime.
MUSINGS: Do you suppose that pianists go into an altered state as they perform? I see it here with Alexander. It goes deeply for him. Some other pianists, as well, maybe, but not so much? Is this what pulls us deep into his performance so that we go into an altered state as well and that there is a kind of communication, almost a communion, between the pianist, the music and those who listen? And I wonder what it may be like for a pianist who lives in that state of grace as they play. Does it happen just in performances? Or while practising as well? Alexander says that now he practices 6 hours a day (used to be 10 -12 when he was a teenager). Can you imagine a life being in that state every day?? But maybe it is not so. I play, just a little, and practising can be either going to the expressive or just repeating phrases so that I can get them in my fingers ( mechanical). It's a combination for me. By the time I get a piece well, it is always the expressive I want.
Thanks for sharing your musings :) I really enjoyed reading it. I think I know what you mean. He goes into a deep state of egolessness, or trance, (for the lack of a better word) where he becomes entirely one with music. There's no earthly being who strives for press the keys with precision. Music exists like air or wind and the listeners feel the blissful joy that something as egoless as nature gives. That's what I get from listening to him play. The way you put it, "the state of grace" and "communion" seems to really capture that peaceful state. I wonder if that happens during practice as well. Before one masters the craft, one must try and learn, but like you said, once the basic mechanical stuff is sorted out, one can go and express what the heart wants to :) I have never played the piano myself. I'd one day like to feel what it is like :=)
I loved reading your reflections. I think you are right about the altered state. I hear from some other performing artists, dancers for instance, who speak of the same experience. My hunch is that that experience may become even more enhanced during a performance. But in any case, it is like Malofeev is closely in touch with his muse, an assured voice from deep within him.
Nikolai Medtner's 10th sonata is very beautiful and romantic. Whether it needs to be played non-stop for over an hour, even as perfectly as Malofeev does here, is another question. The piece is less than 5 minutes long.
