Merci jeune homme ! Tous nos respects.
This piece of music, as played by Alexander Malofeev, takes me, inexorably, to the depth of human experience. I am incapable of resisting its pull. Nothing else like it in the repertoire, But only the way this genius pianist brings it to us. None other!!! May he grow and flourish and be recognized fully, finally.
@@emilyhutjes I did check his concert schedule because I hadn’t heard much about him lately; and I was so glad to see that he was performing all over - both with Orchestra and solo. I hope some of these concerts are put on RU-vid! I would especially love to hear a current Rach 1❣️ (Could this Rachmaninoff Sonata be current? - Sasha looks a bit younger than I expected, and also - could that possibly be the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall - in MOSCOW?
Alexander is the modern day Apollo. He has the ability to take one on a musical/spiritual journey with him as he plays enabling the listener to go where one has never been before.
Alexander Malofeev: for me absolutely the best interpreter of rachmaninov sonatas: his interpretation represents emotionality, passion, technical brillance und maturity. Here on youtube I find no other interpretation at this level (including horowitz, hamelin, V. Lisitsa, Z. Kocsis etc.) !!! Even this repetition loop of the 3.rd movement of the first sonata I listen nearly every day for "hours" with tears in my eyes..... Its for me the only heart touching interpretation of this sonata !!!!!!!! But his two interpretations of the second sonata op. 36 are on the same level and also breathtaking !!!! I write this after listening ALL interpretations of Rachmaninov sonatas here on RU-vid !!!!!
I must concur on many levels. This is an old soul and a present minded artisr. These interpretations are unique and timeless sounds of the Master Meastro.
Omg. So happy to have the First Rachmaninoff Sonata to listen to as I please. It is one of the best offerings by this magnificent pianist. Grabs my heart so deeply. Every time.❤❤❤
I really hope I can hear Alexander play in a live performance ... What a treat to see him grow and his playing, I cry every time. Beautiful playing and such a perfect, beautiful face.
Once again as usual, I enjoyed so much in his performing. A young pianist are rarely seen as Malofeev today, what astonishingly beyond his skillful technique is his interpretation to bring out the soul of the music piece!
... it is the music of Rachmaninoff, then it is Malofeev playing Rachmaninoff! A magnificent pairing! The emotion, it is as if a spillage is occuring, "Emotioal Spillage in Aisle 3..." and yet a cleaning will be unnecessary for merely is it young Malofeev sharing w/ Humankind his particular genius!! ...thus are we Blessed.
Blown away again! How can you possibly fit so many key strokes in one brain? This guy is amazing! Playing so brilliantly to what seems to be an empty venue. That's fine with me, no rude noises… Sasha, you are a gift to us all. Even the seasoned professionals out there must be taking a good look. Best to you! Your future looks brilliant! ❤
@@thepianocornertpc I don't understand the question nor the statement. I don't see anything wrong with this performance or this video. However I find it not to be a very relaxing composition. Quite tense actually.
@@peterkouwenhoven149 oh dear. This video repeats the 3 th movement of the sonata 5 TIMES. It's the same movement over and over again AD NAUSEAM.Replay of the same at 13:51, 27:40, 41:31, and 55:21. Where are the other movements and what's the point of making a video repeating the same badly played movement over an over again? If you, Peter, really didn't see anything wrong with this video than you should refrain from making comments on piano matters. You're clearly a dilletant and a TROLL. Prettige dag nog. BTW..There is more music in one single measure of Schubert than in the whole of this grotesque and bombastic Sonata.
Snobs and more snobs, maybe he was playing just for his own enjoyment! I can’t wait until he composes something of his own. His emotions are in every stroke…❤️❤️
It is as if he were reliving a dream of fire and passion; as if he were inviting us to share his intimately personal, musical reworking of 'the agony and the ecstasy' with all of Michelangelo's angels and demons larger - and louder - than life. As is always the case when Alexander and Rachmaninoff join hands, we have supreme artistry, not for its own sake, but to awaken and transport the mind, heart and soul.
Thank you. What you write speaks to how I receive this music. No one but Alexander goes this deep! "to awaken and transport the heart and soul"!! It takes me to such a place..
Can someone help figure out just what we've got here? This video is starting with the third movement. And also, the sonata only lasts for about 36 minutes. Does anyone know what sort of order this video is in, and possibly provide us some time stamps? I really, really want to listen to this performance, but in the correct order of the 3 movements. Thanks.
How is Russia's future looking hopeful? It's been absolutely the same since 1990. I was there few years ago. Besides the flashy skyscrapers of Moscow that are vastly vacant, it's good old USSR. It gets very bad very fast once you get outside the capital and simply move to any direction. There is no hope for Russia, not in this day and age, not with this mindset. In fact, Russia is a danger to its own people, to its own artists, and I'm not even talking about the ongoing war with Ukraine. Alexander Malofeev moved to Berlin. Whether it is for good or not, I don't care. It just confirms the reality.
Watching from far away, on this, was 'extraordinary' "brain melt". Being there...? Another level. Still Listening, typing! "What-in-blazes! Not fair! WOW! [Fx:insane laughter trails off]. Ambulance! I want to shake your hand one day. 10" that's all. Coz' 'seriously?' Its 'unreal', it's 2:07am. I'm not bed till listened to all once more. Carry on!. Danke, Merçi Mille fois. Plus
Oops! It meant to read coz I missed a word! Sorry that to me was creepy! No, I meant to quizzically joke about ALL of us rhetorical "I don't know about you but how is he possible? Clone? If that's real Christianity, Essenes stuff, Renaissance stuff. Extraordinary Alexander! The movie please-yeah?! See ya' be happy bye. 👋.
Thankyou person who vibes, the Alexander Mallofeev feilds of Lilacs, or Rachmaninov, and upward to the heights. Heights? Listening with Alexander playing, the furthest edge of Galaxy Pole star, is an atom in comparison to where one is carried to when he plays... and it's very 'here' making! Piano Love, it's like the Renaissance on another level. Brain hug! 👍
@Sumin, you really should change the title of this video as it's deceiving. This is not the entire Rach Sonata 1, but I must say this is a wonderful part of the sonata and is enjoyable to listen to...because it's Alexander Malofeev, of course...the best of the best!
Yes! Rachmaninov and Malofeev have in common painful transitions having to leave their home country for similar reasons. I have thought about how difficult this must be.
Malofeev is a courageous pianist. I don't always agree with his interpretations, and there's much I don't agree with here. But when else has anyone heard such delicacy as the way he plays 5:16?
This may be a question a newcomer to piano music might ask but: Does Alexander have an eidetic memory or does he perform from muscle memory after hours and hours of practice? It must be more than that as he presents as though its more about the idea inside the music itself.
Malofeev really makes a case for the 1st Sonata ! The 2nd Sonata is world changing but this should be heard TOO! It's remarkable here -Ive heard others in it but now it really works for me ;much of it leads to the 2nd Sonata and that means it's not a complete statement nor it's own world much like the Symphonies and unlike the 4 concrti everyone of them is a distinct world though closely related . I stopped litening to Rach after I discovered Takemitsu,Wuorinen & Boulez and others ;(first concerto I luv much more than Wuorinen's first piano Sonata and Boulez . I don't need Rach much anymore -it's a dead postRomantic world Barber and Menotti all get much less attention from me now .
Lento e o III. Allegro molto, obrigado desde já. Carapicuíba, São Paulo, Brasil.
I so hope Malofeev will give us later 20th and 21st century music and not more postRomantics wedon't need Schehedrin nor Menotti,Barber ,Medtner etc.Try Carl Vine or Ustvolskaya and others from all over the globe ! How is this over 60 minutes does it begin over in the last 9 minutes -seems like it .
Pardon
@@ritakomm9750 You’re right, especially because it didn’t start at the beginning of the first movement. It just kept repeating the third movement. Also, the very beautiful second movement was omitted.
