The premiere of the new Alfa Romeo model is quite a big event for a simple reason - there are not many of them! All in all, I do not know when the next premiere of a completely new title will be released, because the refreshed versions of the already existing ones - Giulia and Stelvio - are talked about quite often and probably in a year or two it will be possible to shoot films about them. But enough introductions, let's get to the point.
And this thing is really beautiful! Sure, an Alpha will always be pretty and the fact that it's an Alpha adds 50% of the points, but considering that the engineers had a Jeep Compass platform at their disposal, and the body of the new Tonale is over 12 cm longer than that of the Compass. the same wheelbase), everything was stylistically perfectly concealed. Yes, the front overhang, when looking at the car directly in profile, is a bit too long, but otherwise - it's beautiful.
It is a really nice representative of compact crossovers, and in the interior you can feel like you are in a real Alfa Romeo. I know that brand fanatics are constantly spitting on Stelvio, but if it had not been for following the fashion, this brand would not exist anymore. The interior is very cozy, the materials are of good quality, although something creaky in the pre-production model. But Jean-Philippe Imperato himself (seriously, he was at the presentation!) Assured me that he did not delay the premiere for a few months in order to break the world.
Everything in the production copies will be in tip top! How does the new Tonale drive? I did not expect miracles from the Compass platform, which by the way is quite phlegmatic, but after several hours of driving mainly on winding and narrow roads around Lake Como in Italy, I must honestly admit - it is a revelation. The car is surprisingly stable, the suspension is firm and the steering is direct.
Sure, it's not a Giulia or a BMW, but for a compact Crossover with an engine power of only 160 HP, it's great! Yes, this car is fun, despite its rather low sports performance. Man, I have an appetite and if the car goes to Poland, I will definitely sign up for a longer test because it is worth it!
Currently, the car is available in Poland only in a limited and heavily retrofitted version of the Edizione Speciale with a weaker 130 HP unit for PLN 180,000.
