Every year on the last day of school my dad would bring his Alice Cooper CD and we would circle the school, windows down, blasting this song. It always kind of embarrassed me; I would hunch down in my seat, but I also secretly loved it. Every year on the last day when he’d pick me up I’d ask if he remembered to bring his Alice Cooper CD. He did, without fail. He passed away when I was 14, 10 years ago. Flash forward to two years ago: I’m graduating from college. Even though it was an exciting day for me, I couldn’t help feel sad that my dad wasn’t able to be there. After the ceremony, I’m driving myself home. This song comes on the radio and within a second I’m in tears. I’ve never been one to believe in signs, or at least I’ve never thought that anything was a clear sign from my dad. But I know that was him letting me know that he WAS with me that day, on my final last day of school.
This part of the comment section made me think Alice Cooper was gone. Had to check it out. Think about what you write, say it out loud before you post it.
EVERY YEAR....my Dad would blast this whilst pulling me from my bed, by the ankles, on the first day of break!! I lost him 10 years ago to lung cancer. Sure wish I could sing this with him one more time.💜
Sorry to hear man. My fathers getting up in age and this reminds me i need to spend more time with him. We went to see Alice cooper a couple of years ago. He loves him
@Rip Peronis don't delay it for a minute or you will regret it. Lost both of my parents the winter of 21-22 . They were on thier 90s and it was still to soon.
This was our THEME SONG during our High School Years in the 1970's !! We played this song EVERY YEAR on the last day of school until we FINALLY graduated !! Alice Cooper was ALWAYS AWESOME !!
Back in 72, Schools out was for real, I left that year, and this song was no 1. Now talk about strange coincidences. Sorry Lord, I made a big mistake.I never realised just how great that year was.as much as I enjoyed it, I forgot to appreciate it, Please take me right back to that wonderful time in my teenage years. I promise to go to church every Sunday without doubt,
Oh me too!!! Those were the best times. Just wish I had Jesus at that time. But you know that he was with us even though we did not appreciate him as our guidance 🙏
This song came out my sophomore year in high school…and it’s been my kick off the summer song every year. I’m now 😂68 years old and have had a decades long career in education. Just got out for the summer today and of COURSE I’m playing this song at top volume. Yahoo!!!! Thanks for the great song Alice!!!
Grew up Akron Ohio the only thing that kept us going in those long ass winter's were concerts Cleveland rock and roll capital of the world I was 18 and just out of high school live in Cali screw snow 1979 graduate
When I was very young in the mid 90's, a fella named Mr. Bumpy and his pal Squishy introduced me to this song and Alice Cooper. In ways, Alice, and School's Out changed my life for the better. I hated school with a passion, and once I heard this song I knew I had friends. Thank You Mr. Alice Cooper.
The "schools out forever" part hits home now that I'm done high school and therefore mandatory education. Listening to this song has never felt so sweet.
Ben Joseph yes we know. You know that Alice came from a Baptist faith. Just like me. Baptist people do not dance. Baptistist people believe dancing with a guy and girl is a combination of unmarried sexBaptists people think that secular music is devil music.i am so happy that I signed my life away to Satan. Because I was so sick and tired of being pushed around by some friggin church shit if you want to challenge me, go ahead. I dare you. Love Janet Craft 🌙
1972 and my huge speakers where placed in my bedroom windows of my Parents home after school while I rocked the neighborhood with "Schools Out." Today I did the same for my 9 year old Granddaughter Starting a new tradition at Grandpa's house!!
This song was the one song my Dad requested me to play at home on the vinyl in the 70s. He'd laugh and laugh. Dad was the principal of an elementary school. Here's another round, Dad, with Alice, your fav rock star. Love ya Dad, Love ya Alice.
I played this every year for my kids till all 3 graduated. Right now I'm playing it for my grandkids! My son got to meet him after a concert super nice guy!❤❤
In the 70's and 80's all of my school principals replaced the closing bell on the last day of school with this song. Now as a mom when I pick my kids up from their last day of school, I have it blasting. It's tradition.
I was blessed to be able to see Alice cooper on 9-24-22, easily the best night of my life, and the concert closed with kiss. Being able to see this song live when i wasnt even alive when it came out is just absolute pure luck.
I'm in my 50's and grew up listening to all the hard Rock bands. BUT with all of the school violence. Please tell me you are not one of those!! Don't eat PLAYDOUGH PLAY-DOH. 🤔
In the late 70.s and early 80.s... we had the... coop.... bob... seger... and the nuge.... detroit is a well known place.. for rock... n...roll... because of them...... have a nice week...end.....
I played this every year on the last day of school since elementary school and today is my last day of high school. It's been a long journey but a fun one and I'll never forget the memories I've had through all the years.
I sent this to my niece every year. She's now a Junior. Congratulations Cade!🎉 I hope you have a blessed future and maybe you'll play this song for your own kids. 🙏🏼📚📜
It´s funny to see all students write ”I played this song when i graduated from school!". You´re not the only one! I´m a teacher and I play this baby so hard that the school shakes every year when summer comes! I love it!
Your dad should have sent you to reform school. As long as my dad paid the rent, he controlled the television, the phone and the music. Parents are too damn lanient since the 70's.
Alice Cooper has for decades put on one of the best concerts in rock and roll. Being in my sixties I still listen to Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Kiss. It makes me smile when I introduce these young kids to the rock of my generation. They all like it!
1970s: Who needs disco when we have Allison Cooper 1980s: 🤘 Let's skip school and blast this 🤘 1990s: THIS SONG IS PLAYING THAT MEANS IT'S SUMMER VACATION 2000s: We should totally rig the PA system to play this 2010s: Ah yes, old but still gold 2020: I'm confused, is Allison Cooper singing or narrating real life events?
I hear that Alice Cooper's Dad was a Pastor. I also heard that Alice Cooper is serving the Lord once again. That is pretty cool. God is a God of mercy.
My first concert, I was 16 years old. My brother and his best friend took me and my best friend!!! I was hooked, been a metalhead ever since!!! Love ya Alice!!!
You have such a profound impact on my career that even the biggest thank you text would fall shout to express my gratitude... Thanks for your support ❤️, if you're really a huge fan of me drop your WhatsApp number I'll text you myself 😊
I'm watching this because I'm a teacher, and soon to be ex teacher. Two more days to go, and never again! YEAH!!! :))) (That's not a comment on the kids, but on the system and my non-adaptive personality, to be clear.)
I was a d.j in Coventry high school in Coventry Rhode island and yes I played this song and walked out of school and became a great chef for my family.
God bless you !!! I was a 17 years old when I graduated high school I'm a Thanksgiving baby I turned 19 in navy boot camp I was stationed at naval air station patuxtent river Maryland. Grew up in Long Beach. California. On ocean and cheery Muisc will bring us all together. I had alternative cd. Alit of people never heard of bush. Alice in chains. Smashing pumpkins. But in the office everybody my older co-workers liked 70 music. Lead zepplin. Ozzy.
Happy 74th Vincent Damon Furnier, February 4, 1948 Detroit, Michigan.. Alice, you are a rock icon that brought rock and theater together. Which spawned the rock group called Kiss, and many more. Keep golfing.. It keeps you young. I'm not worthy.. I'm not worthy..
I saw Alice live in concert at the old Cincinnati Gardens in 1973 when I was 17. It was my first rock show and a great experience. The old man still kicks ass!
This never gets old. We played it many times the last day of high school from the Daze and Confused album. This week I finally graduate with a Master's. Still sounds as good as ever! No more CDs though I do have the movie DVD, somewhere 😂. Thanks RU-vid. Couldn't have graduated without your help with instructional videos.
One of the first rock songs I REALLY liked, back in the early 1970S, and still do like it now! I play it every year at the end of the school year, and at other times too! Not only my favourite Alice Cooper song, but also one of my favourite all time songs too!
You have such a profound impact on my career that even the biggest thank you text would fall shout to express my gratitude... Thanks for your support ❤️, if you're really a huge fan of me drop your WhatsApp number I'll text you myself 😊
When I graduated from high school, this was cranking out of a car radio. A couple of my relatives told me, "Welcome to the club!" As if it was right of passage
I was 11 years old when this was released As soon as I heard it I got a bad attitude Im going on 63 now and I still have a chip on my shoulder. Thanks Vince
the ultimate summertime anthem. that is the song i would put on once school was over back in the day. alice cooper was still cool during the 90s. we never knocked alice.
You have such a profound impact on my career that even the biggest thank you text would fall shout to express my gratitude... Thanks for your support ❤️, if you're really a huge fan of me drop your WhatsApp number I'll text you myself 😊
My grandson and I ended our year of homeschooling! Now we are relaxing listening to this great song! Homeschool due to pandemic it was great! Maybe continue next year due to all this indoctrination !
@@puppyplayzyaz2533 I would spend all day the first day of summer playing this on guitar hero. Now that the controller broke and I got a real guitar I'm learning this to keep that going.
Baby girl be proud you have such a wonderful memory that will always be with you! When you get in behind that steering wheel say thank you to your father for giving you a part of himself..THEN you blast that stereo sing at the top of your lungs and enjoy every second!! I used to play it for my kids on the last day of school more than 40 years ago. I sent it to one of my grandsons today, with the caveat that it was done in more innocent times.
My very first concert in 1973 was Alice Cooper; it was the Billion Dollar Babies concert, and of course he played this song which was the theme song of all 18-year-olds (including me) at the time. It's interesting to note that it still holds relevance today, and even more relevance in 2020 due to the Corona virus. School's been blown completely.
I've loved Alice Cooper's music since I was a teenager. I worked for him as a go-for when I was 18 (and didn't know what I wanted!) He was a real gentleman and nothing like his stage persona. He's a real artist and actor
I finished high school in 1971. The following year, School's Out was released. We all just loved this song. I remember partying and singing along with this song and we all yelled out "School's out FOREVER" WOW! Talk about old memories. Go Alice.. His shows were always great.
Alice really knows the guitar well, and consistently phenomenal guitarists, and let them shine. Serious fun this man had, and one of the great overachievers of the music business.
My 3 grandchildren have just finished school and I have sent them this video as I do every year They're coming around tomorrow and I will play it and we will all be jumping up and down like crazy
