@ trishphillips-johnson2500 Back in those days royalty had to marry foreign royals for political purposes. It wasn't unusual for a King to have one of more mistresses. The queen was not allowed that privilege (although, some did have lovers) But the first duty of any royal or noble bride (even in this age) is to produce and heir, a spare and more children are welcomed.
There was much more to Alice than being a Kings mistress, her wit and charm and also beauty, and her charity for the poor and hospitals etc, thank you Jon superb as always. 👍👏😊
Great information on a lady who like many before her , used her wit and intelligence to navigate society at that time... She was resourceful...thank you..
Through her younger daughter, Sonia Cubitt, who was Queen Camilla’s grandmother. Whilst King Edward VII is the 2 x great grandfather of King Charles III.
She was a very beautiful and social adept woman. The artwork in your video is lovely. The big question is: Are Camilla and Charles cousins? It is rumored that Edward VII was the father of Camilla's grandmother (i.e. Sonia Cubitt) Both of Alice's daughters Violet and Sonia were beautiful.
Alice lived in a different time, certainly. She made a lot of positive changes in her lifetime, which is inspirational. However it will never NOT be ironic to me that being the mistress of married kings seems to run in that family. Camilla should not be where she is now, neither should Charles.
