7:28 The N.V. Noord-Hollandsche Levensverzekerings Maatschappij was founded in 1891 by Jan Hofstee (nicknamed Jan Pijp because he had previously owned a pipe shop). His son and successor Henk Hofstee expanded the insurance business and commissioned Kropholler to build a new office in historicizing style on the site of the old Hooge Huys. The building was moved into 1931. Before that, there was a city castle on that spot.
The architecture design of the town hall is unique and Churches with a long history are amazing. I'd like to try sample beer at the Beer Museum.🍺Cheese too.🧀 Amsterdam has many great attractions.😀
It s pity but the beer museum was closed when i visited there. So i couldn t taste a beer there also, hope the next time. Alkmaar is not part of Amsterdam actually, Alkmaar is another city in the Netherlands, on the north side. Thank you very much for watching, appreciated dear Korean friends!
As usual it is big screen time as I use the PC to work :) Just arrived at the statue at 10:20 which I love. There is still 50 minutes to go so I will watch those and if anything stands out and really catches my eye then I will return for another comment. As always though, you get a like, a comment, and a GUARANTEED full watch to help you with your retention rate :)
7:59 The building you are looking at now is the former police station, the office built in 1935-1936. Architect A.J. Kropholler. He had also designed the Hoge Huys on the other side of the Sint Laurensstraat. The intention had been to create a gate between the two buildings. It was a police station until around 1988 and a restaurant from around 2015.
Really appreciate this video and your time making it 💚 we travel to Alkmaar often from Ireland and it’s difficult not to go these days xx thanks for you walk through the place we know and love so much 💚
I see very little Mask wearing. My Brother says those that don't wear it only care about themselves. How about forcing Businesses to put up No Mask-No Entry signs and put up Mask Zone signs around the downtown areas?
The people now wear a face mask and we have a curfew, at home you are not allowed to receive more than 1 person and in the city everything is closed except for food shops and other essential shops.
