Hi, I just have a quick question, if Beacons are based on Bluetooth technology does that mean that end user's bluetooth has to be switched on for the technology to really work?
How far away can these be picked up? What I'm thinking is if we are talking about 5 or so feet, then you can put some around your house. This will tell your phone where you are. Maybe Google can use this with their reminders so you can tell the system to remind you when you get to x room.
Yeah you can -- though trilateration (using the relative signal strengths of the beacons) is generally not the winning approach. That's because the RSSI that you measure will jump around quite a bit. A better approach is to 'mark' both areas with a few beacons (depending on size), then tune their signal strengths so that you can see only the right ones in each bit. Remember as well that Nearby Messages de-dupes attachments from multiple beacons, so you can create your own 'hierarchy' of information over a number of beacons in the same area.
If somebody add 20 google live cards after a month without reboting a phone GSM call randomly stop if you randomly turn on or off internet and accept phone calls. Very fatal bug. This bug exist on many smart phone with Android OS. Please fix it.
We list a number of beacon manufacturers here: developers.google.com/beacons/eddystone#beacon_manufacturers -- Maybe some of them are available in India?
