I don’t know if you guys are still reading the comments from old videos, but I just stumbled on this one and wanted to ask if you’ve ever heard of the NCV (New Century Version). I’ve been told that it is a very literal translation. I feel like it is a cross between the NASB and the NLT (a couple of my other favorites.) I also noticed that someone mentioned the CJB (Complete Jewish Bible), this one is really great if you have Jews in your life, for it has all the names in Hebrew! Thanks for all you do!

I prefer the NIV. It still keeps to a standard wording but is easy to understand. But lots of times the Lord brings to mind a phrasing of scripture that is not necessarily found in one translation. Like withholding his face, like in the Psalms, like his people asking him not to hide his face from them. But "withholding" had more of a turning of the back of dilberate ignoring of someone. I couldn't find "withhold" on any of my online Bible translation searches, and I realized it was "hide" or "hid"

Seek Jesus FIRST! Ask Jesus which Bible He wants you to read. I asked Jesus and He brought me the very bible He wanted me to Read..then He Helped me Read it..so I would know what was Truth. He brought me a bible called.."The Living Bible". Which is a paraphrase by Jewish scholars who know the language and are familiar with the culture. I read KJV for the NT because of the poetic..ness. But the Living bible gives better understanding.

I've been trying to ask God the same thing Kathleen, I've been praying to God which Bible or Bibles he wants me to read specifically. I know that a lot of pro-KJV only who'll say "if it's not KJV it's not the real Bible" which is false. Some of KJV's are fake and have misspellings. I'm glad that God answered your prayers Kathleen, if you read this please pray for me that God will tell me which Bible God thinks is right for me. God bless.

This video came up in my video suggestions but I have a collection of study bibles from different translations. All of them will give you different insight (understanding) in the text. No matter which translation you use, it won’t be taken away the meaning and context. I love all bibles and translations. If you’re able too, get all of them. You will want to clear the table and lay them all out and read and compare and see the meaning of Gods word. Go to a book store and read a few pages and see which version gives you the most understanding. Take care and God bless brothers and sisters.

I personally have many Bible translations and plan on getting some more. Yet the accurate translations I have found to be the best for English would be: 1. An interlinear Bible which has Hebrew, Greek and English all in one. Can't get much better than that. (Also can learn the gematria of Hebrew and Greek). 2. The Alpha and Omega Bible which put in the Aleph-Tav symmetry and the proper names for YHVH Elohim (Downside is the book is pricey averaging $100 dollars). 3. The King James Version (Absolute classic and reveals much of the mathematical English gematria you would find reading an interlinear Bible but in the English language). 4. The New King James Version (Near the same eloquence of the sounding of the King James Version but with a more modern/natural read for today). 5. The New American Standard Bible ( Very accurate English translation and as well much more accurate in terminology and wording to the original Hebrew and Greek). 6. HalleluYah Scriptures Bible (Fairly new and accurate and uses the proper names of YHVH Elohim and ditches the "Lord" and "God" words like #2 on the list, downside is that they hard to find).

Your video makes more easier for beginners like me that's trying to study God's word and trying to learn who God is and our Savior Jesus Christ. even though I've been reading God's word for about five years now sometimes I forget some things here and there. I'm not a smart person but when you put your mind to do things you can do anything you want but it takes practice. I have my grandma's Bible the Kings James versionI always had a hard time reading because when I was younger I was always in the special classes plus I was a premature baby. But the Bible that I have my grandma's is from 1954 the Kings James version and this version The Old English sometimes it's hard to understand. So I downloaded the Bible app on my phone because it makes him more easier for someone to read it for me and I understand it better. So I started to read The New American standard Bible version. and I wasn't paying attention to other Bible translations and when I found out it got so confusing for me and overwhelming. But when I started reading the NIV Bibleit's a little bit different than the New American standard Bible but not too much. But when you explaining in your video about The New American standard Bible is word for word. And the NIV Bible is thought for thought so it made more understanding for me. I have a confession to make whoever reads my message. Ever since when I was a kid I knew I was different when I started growing up I started to understand that I found out that I was attracted to men I never had any sexual intercourse with men just touching with our hands. But even though it is wrong in and our Lord . Even though I struggle with my sexuality everyday to try to figure out why I'm attracted to men before when I got abused and before I got sexual assault for those few seconds I knew I was different but I pray every night for God and Jesus to come into my dreams to give you a vision to help me out to make me understand why I'm this way. Because in my mind I still think it's sickfor a man and man to be in a relationship or a woman to woman to be in a relationship. The Bible said man and woman has one joined together. Even thoughif somehow I don't get no answers in my dream for God and Jesus to help me I still need to keep my faith no matter what and one day when I go to heaven Jesus and God can answer my questions. Maybe it was how I was raised living in apartments and to get outside I had to walk down the stairs go past my neighbor's hallway just to get outside. But my neighbor's I remember they were a gay couple and maybe in my mind I thought that was okay. and my aunt is gay she is lesbian she's not my aunt by blood but my brother and sister that is their aunt. We can't give up on prayers no matter whatno matter how long we've been praying for we can't give up on praying we can't give up on seizing our prayers. Because it's on holy for a manto get in a relationship with a man and it's unholy for a woman to get in a relationship with a woman. My old self is passed away and God and Jesus gave me a New path. My sins are cleanse by Jesus blood and I am forgiven by God through Jesus Christ our Savior. I will pray every day for God and Jesus the guy me to be holy as possible to keep on changing me to give me strength in different ways. and another thing I'm struggling with is chronic lyme disease and its missed understood by the medical community. And I have to struggle with my mental and physical but when I pray I asked God and Jesus to let my mental and physical let it be in balance with your holy Spirit in your holy word. We need to put God in Jesus first. Every time I get back home from the clinic I go to before I eat or before I watch TV or wash my favorite movie or if I play a game on my phone. I will go into my and I will talk to God and Jesus a what ever is on my mind and then I will go into my phone on the Bible app and choose a Pacific chapter and verse in the Bible. Whoever reads this this message can you please pray for me. Because it says in the Bible no murderers no homosexuals no fiefs no swindlers no liars no adulterers and others won't enter the kingdom of heaven. People need to repent of all the sins if they're doing them. To mean it from their heart and their souls the turn away from them and trust in God and our Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for reading my message I really appreciate. Nicholas Otis

That’s actually a misconception. The verses that were “removed” from other versions of the Bible or not because the authors or translators deliberately removed the text. The reason they are not present in other versions is because the manuscripts used were much older than the manuscripts used to translate the king James version and Manny did not have those versus in them. Mini biblical scholars actually believe that modern translations or not guilty of removing text as much as the king James version is accidentally guilty of adding text due to the manuscripts used in king James being over 1000 years newer. In fact in some translations like the NIV, they were footnotes telling exactly where the verses can be found as they are repeated in the Bible, or pointing out that some manuscripts have those verses while others do not.

I personally use NIV and NCSB. I also have New Living Translation at my family home but it is far too bulky and heavy for regular use. I also have an 1853 King James Bible. It is a replica of the Bible used to inaugural Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. This bible in particular is very important to me as Lincoln has always been a personal hero of mine, Obama was the first President I watched get inaugurated and Donald Trump was the first President I ever voted for.

@warrenrhinerson6373
@warrenrhinerson6373 3 года назад
@@janetralte3861 The new king James version is a 1982 revision of the king James version. It is easy to read however I do not recommend either the king James or the new king James. Not because they aren’t good translations, but the text use the Translate them is 1000 years newer than the texts used to translate a newer versions. For reference the text used to translate the king James Bible is from the 14th or 15th century want to text you to translate the NIV And other more modern translations are from the second and fourth centuries. What I would highly recommend is getting multiple different translations of the Bible so that way if you have a hard time understanding what some of the words are and say the king James version you can look toward say the NAV or the Christian standard for a slightly better understanding.

Word for word, thought for thought or paraphrase! That makes so much sense after doing lots of translation from Korean to English. I thought paraphrase was best translation work (considering even culture and language expression) but to study deeply, word for word and what's even better if you know and read it in old Hebrew or Greek I guess! Most of the translations they recommended are good ones. I personally use the ESV and the NASB. As someone who has dived into textual criticism quite a bit I would not recommend The Passion Translation (a translation by one man claiming to receive personal revelation from God when translating) or an upcoming new version called the Mirror Bible (which is a man-centered version that elevates man to the level of Christ and teaches that we are all messiahs among many other things). If you want a detailed explanation of these two, Pastor Mike Winger on RU-vid spends over an hour on both breaking each one down and why they are not good for the believer truly seeking after God.

Hi there! Just wanted to let you know that RU-vid has a rule that you're not allowed to put tags in the video description. If they happen to catch you making that mistake they will likely give your channel a guidelines strike (a rather unpleasant thing in my experience). I'm sure you only put tags in there thinking you were helping the search engines and I wouldn't want you to get dinged for it. Have a great day!

I’m Jewish so my primary is the JPS-Hebrew-English Tanakh. That way I have access to the original language of the Jewish Bible to consult and check for myself. Every translation is going to be wrong somewhere because it’s not possible to fully convey the entire meaning from one language into another one. What I really love about my JPS Tanakh is the translation committee always told you in a footnote when they were not entirely sure what the original Hebrew meant.
@TedBruckner
@TedBruckner 3 года назад
So true that translations fail to convey the entire meaning. I delve into mainly Greek to do my own translations primarily from the Greek texts. i owned a 1985 JPS TANAKH and saw how they did a good job in footnoting when they were not entirely sure what the original Hebrew meant. i also admire how the creative they made their translations and formatted it the Book. (i also have consulted the 1918 JPS TANAKH.) What do you think about how the translators of the 1985 TANAKH in their Translator's Preface how they attribute the Traditional Hebrew Scriptures text to Rebbi Saadia Gaon and even mention the word "Masoretic" or the Masoretes who worked for centuries on it having first to create the vowel system of dots and squiggles in order to create a standardized text out of the text which had been created way back at the counsel in Yavne where the sages also created the Birkat ha Minim curse? The first Christian Bible to use the same text labeled "Masoretic/Traditional" in 900ish AD was the 405 AD Vulgate Bible; which you can see by reading a verse or two from it's English translation named "the Douay-Rheims Bible." Here’s what Augustine wrote in his tome titled The City of God concerning the inspiration of the Septuagint and the beleevers’ reaction to the Hebrew text in Vulgate: "For while there were other interpreters who translated these sacred oracles out of the Hebrew tongue into Greek, ..., yet the Church has received this Septuagint translation just as if it were the only one; and it has been used by the Greek Christian people, most of whom are not aware that there is any other. From this translation has also been made a translation in the Latin tongue, which the Latin churches use. ... But although the Jews acknowledge this very learned labor of his to be fruitful [Jerome translating the Old Testament from the Hebrew], while they contend that the Septuagint translators have erred in many places, still the churches of Christ judge that no one should be preferred to the authority of so many men, chosen for this very great work by Eleazar, who was then high priest; for even if there had not appeared in them one Spirit, without doubt divine, and the seventy learned men had, after the manner of men, compared together the words of their translation, that what pleased them all might stand, no single translator ought to be preferred to them; but since so great a sign of divinity has appeared in them, certainly, if any other translator of the Scriptures from the Hebrew into any other tongue is faithful, in that case he agrees with these seventy translators, and if he is found not to agree with them, then we ought to believe that the prophetic gift is with them." (end quote) The Peoples Bible (the Seventy) was also the Christians Bible ; (and still is for the Easterns.) And the only time other than the Vulgate Bible that a Christian translation had used Hebrew text was the first Syrian translation which was translated into a language as well as the Greek Septuagint, and they agree. I'd like to tell you how even n the verses that agree between the Hebrew and Greek translation, many times the Greek text is more intelligible in it's sense. I don't like to tell you this because it's bad news but just a blip of it and giving a link to the paper (with many charts of the numbers from all the many manuscripts) which proposes that the Septuagint preserves (most of) the original numbers in Genesis 5 and 11. Most of the Masoretic Text's chronology in Genesis 5 and 11 does not represent the original text, and is the result of a deliberate and systematic post-AD 70 corruption by the rabbis deflating the numbers by 1,250 years. biblearchaeology.org/images/Genesis-5-and-11/Smith-Henry-Winter-2018-BAS_MT-SP-or-LXX.pdf

WHY THE KING JAMES BIBLE IS SO BELOVED BY FUNDAMENTALISTS THOUGH IT'S SO INACCURATE Neo Evangelicals (what we used to call Fundamentalists) keep insisting there is such a thing as "The Bible," which they call "The Word of God." They would have everyone believe it was dictated by God to men who simply wrote down God's words, flawlessly. They also say every single word in what they present to their converts as a single volume book, written 411 years ago in what-is-now-antiquated-and-very-difficult-for-most-people-to-understand English, was divinely inspired. If they could, they'd leave it right there, and because most people in their churches never bother once to question any further, they assume what they were told to believe is true. So, when these people hear or read a different bible that has "changes" in it or which "leaves things out," it's understandably confusing. It's often only at this time they are finally told the Bible was not actually written in Old English, but was translated from the ancient languages of Greece and the Hebrew spoken by the ancient, Jewish people. Should they begin asking questions, the leaders of these relatively new believers resort to several fall back positions to keep their flocks believing there is still only one, perfect English bible--the King James Version. One of their tricks is to say, "Oh, but the Greek and Hebrew texts used by the King James translators are the only true bible, the Textus Receptus." Sounds pretty inspired, right? After all, if it's in Latin, that's gotta be divinely inspired, yeah? Sorry, but the term "textus receptus" is just a line found in the introduction to a printed edition of the Greek New Testament in the late 1500s by a printer who wanted to sell his books so, naturally, he made it sound like his edition was error free by simply saying it was! But it wasn't! There were several printed editions of the New Testament, for example, that came out since the first one by a guy named Erasmus about the same time Luther began the Protestant Reformation in 1517. His first edition was rather sloppily done, since he was in a hurry to get it done before another printed edition (known as the Polyglot) came out first. But none of the printed Greek New Testaments of the 16th and early 17th Centuries were all that great, since they relied on hand-written Greek texts which had to be borrowed from universities who were rather stingy with what they had, and what they had, for the most part, dated after the end of the first millennium! Here's the thing to understand--all the books we think of as "The" Bible, are a collection of books that varied from one religious body to another--Catholic, Orthodox, Old Protestant, Later Protestant and so on--but NONE of those books are still around! Every single bible "book", all written in ancient languages that are now all dead, were lost to the ravages of history! All we have today are copies of them, that is, copies of copies of copies! It's true that there are 1000s of these copies, but MANY of them are just little scraps of "paper," written on papyrus or, sometimes, vellum and occasionally on some pottery. Sadly, we don't even have any complete versions of the oldest copies of the Bible until we get to 2 and 3 centuries after the originals were all lost! And these 1000s of texts are DIFFERENT! Over all those centuries, the copyists made a lot of mistakes or decided to add things or take some things out. Some had really bad handwriting. Some were copied from an earlier copy that had all sorts of notes scribbled on the side (like some people do with their bibles today) but the copyists didn't think it mattered which parts they was copying, so they just included them in the main body of the text of new copy (the fancy name for this is an "interpolation")! And then there was the problem of not hearing properly what was said as one guy was reading aloud from an earlier copy, and the listening copyist got the word wrong, or lost his place (This was the ancient version of a copy machine, in what was called a "scriptorium," that made it slightly less expensive to make copies of any particular document, since they ALL had to be done BY HAND!) So, what to do, if you REALLY want to know what the Bible originally said? Well, you can just believe whatever it is your preacher or teacher tells you which printed book IS THE Bible, and just ignore the fact that he was specifically trained to uphold the MAN-MADE DOCTRINES his church denomination or sect or mega-church, wants you to believe...or you can rely on REAL SCHOLARS who from REAL UNIVERSITIES who don't really care about doctrinal implications and, consequently, are going to give you the best translations from the best (oldest and most reliable) copies archeologists have discovered. They way they do this is the same way real scholars, like detectives, take all copies of ancient documents--from the Iliad and Odyssey to Beowulf--applying the disciplines of the Textual and Contextual Criticism, to sort out as many of the errors as possible in order to arrive at what was most likely in the original writings (autographs). After this, it falls to unprejudiced, biblical and historical scholars to make sense of what the original bible texts said. Trouble is, almost all Neo Evangelical preachers and teachers are not interested in finding out what the bible originally said, much less, what the writers of those original documents intended their words to mean, and even far less, what all of their original words and intentions, put together, mean for us today! Instead, they're goal is to ensure they get more converts to believe what they're told to believe, and to do what they're told to do, very often, just to serve the interests of their very wealthy and powerful political allies. This is why anyone who really wants to know what the original Bible had to say should avoid translations (like the NASB) or faux translations (like the Living Bible), issued by "Christian" publishing houses. These heavily skewed versions of the bible are specifically designed to promote certain man-made doctrines...and to make no small amount of money in the process! Justin Martyr (First Apology Ch. 15) quoted Matthew 5:44 like it is in the King James Bible whereas new versions lack 13 important words of the Lord’s instruction. The NKJV has corrected many of the KJV’s mistakes and is nearly as good literal-wise.) The EOB: The Eastern Greek Orthodox New Testament (6”x9”) not quite as literal as (N)KJV but easy to read and a truer text-type; hardcover is available from LuLu but paper may not be as good as the paperback available elsewhere; the (4x6) leather bound Book has too small of print and lacks the Chapter prefaces.

Also because part of the old testament is read by both Christians and Jews of course there will be differences for example when it comes to the Old Testament Apocrypha, we are one family with the Jews but we are not the same religion.
