Hi Emma, I posted a kindle book on KDP using their ISBN. I have now unpublished the book as I am reworking it with new Artwork etc. It says I have to wait 90 days. I plan to publish it on Ingram Spark. Do I still have the copyright and am I in a position to buy an ISBN from Neilson ready to launch the book on Ingram? really confused..help...

Hi. If it's their ISBN you can only use it on their platform. But the copyright of the book belongs to you. You can republish with a new ISBN wherever you want, and the new artwork will make that even clearer. You wouldn't have to wait the 90 days for the new one to go up, the second edition could run alongside it if you wanted.

You might want to discuss the smaller barcode to the right of the ISBN number...that it indicates the set price of the book, unless you use all zeros, known as the null value, meaning that no set price has been selected.

You can make one up - it's basically whatever you want it to say in the 'published by' section

Hello thank you so much for this helpful video. I have a quick question. On the Nielsen registration page, it asks you to provide your street address which is associated to your company. I don’t have an official company and will be publishing under my name therefore the address is my personal address. I know there is a box at the top which you can tick to say that you don’t want to withhold your company. Information. I just wanted to check that if you tick that box they won’t display this information?

I believe that's the case but you can check with them. Personally I use a brass plate company for my public address and so I'm happy for that to be displayed

@@LoveQualified yes, but it's quite expensive and it's a yearly cost. I'm planning to move away from using them soon as I have a business address I can use. You have to have permission from the owner of the property, but that's another option.

I might have missed it, but where do we actually buy legitimate isbn from? When I googled it, there were lots of options and I got worried if they wouldn't be legit, or could be scam. Thanks in advance

So helpful, thank you! I am a dual citizen (UK-US) and live in the UK. I am wondering if I should go through Nielsen or Bowker for ISBN's? Also my amazon is set up to the US, so it's all so confusing. urgh.

Buy them wherever your business is based. Also you can set up a new Amazon account in the UK if you need for the purposes of KDP ☺️

@@EmmaRosenBooks thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I guess it’s a bigger question about US taxes - which I loathe. Need to figure out which country is best to be me home for my base. I don’t have a company set up, only plans to do a few self published books. Ps. Buying Lili the Limpet for my 2 year old and another copy for my friend, her daughter is Liliana. 👍

Thank you! UK and US have a tax treaty so you can fill in exemption forms on KDP which makes it a lot easier.

This was helpful! Thank you! I realize this is off-topic, but if you published on Ingram Spark and KDP, does that mean you are disqualified from the 70% royalties option for KDP?

My ebook is exclusive with them so I qualify for 70% in all territories - it's only a few territories where this applies anyway (Brazil, Mexico, Japan and India) and I don't sell any books there - otherwise you don't have to be exclusive
