As an avid homeowner who loves a pristine lawn, you offer up soooo much good information that I can't begin to say thank you enough! Maybe show a clip of an area you've used these products to show us what type of control to expect out of these different combinations? Just food for thought as I know I'd like to see it. Either way, love the videos!

Andrew P. thank you sir! I plan on doing this as we move through the seasons.

I use Solitare extensively ,it will nuke torpedo grass to the root. Not bad on sedges of all types. The yellowing is a bonus..I feel like it minimizes complaint calls if the customer has a visible queue rather than a disappearing act. I alternate treatments of Drive and solitaire , it seems to do the trick . This stuff WON'T touch broad leaf in my experience (even the labeled stuff)Drive with MSO is the way to go!!!

john kooker torpedograss - I didn't even think about that. I rolled a very similar mix to solitaire in Georgia to control torpedo in a zoysia lawn. Good call!

Since I'm on a roll....Crabgrass is annihilated by Quin (Celcius gets the quickest result post emergent), . Of course all sedges will be very devastated by this combo too. We have roughly 250-300 Zoysia accounts.

Any effect on quack grass in a cool season lawn?

Love listening to your videos! Especially the white boards. Very informative. I would like to here your thoughts about MSMA. Is it a good chemical? It seems to work great on crabgrass, Will it work on other broad leaf weeds? Or could it be used as a post emergent for weeds other than crabgrass?

Great info here, man. In my experience, I've noticed solid results with Solitare on kyllinga and goosegrass in one app. I've followed up 2 weeks after app and can't find a trace of it. Sedge weeds like yellow and purple nutsedge needs at least 2 apps 10-14 days apart. I always sell 3 apps for sedges. Drive is my go to for crabgrass - especially early in the Summer season before those seed heads have a hay-day. Ever used Blindside?
@TheGrassFactor
@TheGrassFactor 7 лет назад
+DanPrinMan I have never used Blindside, but I have used a fair amount of Manor (metsulfuron-methyl). I'm scared of MSM because of the controversy around oak trees and now that I'm in a cool season market, I don't use it any more. I know with blindside, people are really really loving that product. It's another easy one to mix your own - Manor + Dismiss

Enjoying these chemical vids. They help when making those choices on product uses.

Velvethamma thanks, brother! I get a little frustrated that they release off patent products at a low rate on a new patent and charge an astronomical amount for it. there's no new science in most of these products, just new sales tactics

I think if you're looking for a "one hit wonder" weed control out of Solitaire for crabgrass and sedge weeds, you're not gonna find it. It takes repeated apps. That's a problem for companies that don't charge extra for grassy weed control. If you charge for the apps (like I do), then there's less stress about it. And, it brings in extra revenue. Costs you money, ought to cost your customers as well.

Hello, great video. We are trying to get rid of established crabgrass in Phoenix AZ. We don't have a lawn, but the crabgrass infiltrates other plants like bamboo we planted or a planter with aloe. What product would toy recommend to kills the crabgrass?

Rate this tank mix quinclorac @1/2lb per acre plus 1/4 annual rate dicamba 1/4 annual rate triclopyr 1/4 annualrate & 2-4d 1/4 annual rate plus 3/4 annual rate prodiamine. In April for hardiness zone 7b. As a split app after 1st app in January with Indaziflam?

Great video. I have been thinking of purchasing Solitrae for a while. Would just running a nonionic surfactant not work well with this product. I have never ran the seed oil. Will it really make that much of a difference.

Yard Therapy LLC seed oil will give you a definite difference

Local nursery here in Fairfax, Va betty's Azalea Ranch sold me IMAGE ALL-IN-ONE lawn weed killer concentrate. It is 1.6% Sulfentrazone and 5% Quinclorac. they even wrote on the bottle 4 ounces of image 1 ounceof surfactant per gallon. $27.77 for a 24 ounce bottle. so it makes 6 gal. Of selective herbicide Per bottle.They claimed it would kill the POA anua+trivialis and barnyardgrass and others weeds. I am having my doubts now.

@@TheGrassFactor Thank you. Should we just let the POA TRIV AND ANUA, take over and forget all the cost of time and money? It seems to be a war that can not be won. I have and used: mesotrione, prodiamine, fenoxaprop, triclopyr and 3 way selective herbicides. I also did Virginia Tech soil samples and put lime on lawn. it seems I have wasted a lot of time trying to learn and educate myself about my turf type tall fescue oriented, lawn and herbicides. Also selective insecticides.
@TheGrassFactor
@TheGrassFactor 2 года назад
@@mtnbikerva1 triv is not managed with selective herbicides. You would have to go non selective and it would be a multi year process. Annua can be managed with ethofumesate if appropriately timed. Totally your call on whether worth it or nor

Hey Matt good stuff can you talk more about spraying with your permagreen machine. Was interested in your experience trying fungicides,crabgrass and nutsedge herbicides in the permagreen? I've only used it with three way and other herbicides. I've seen some college studies talking about fungicides with the permagreen. Trying not to pull hoses. Doug
@TheGrassFactor
@TheGrassFactor 7 лет назад
+Lawn Guy for sure, I'll do a video about it. Just to fill you in, I spray everything through my permagreen. If the label says, "must be applied with at least 20 gallons per acre" I will still apply it through my PG at 10 gallons per acre. Low volume studies on turf are just now being researched by universities but in the bag world, they've been applying with 2.5gal per acre for years. But again, I literally spray everything through my PG with flawless results
@42swissmocha
@42swissmocha 7 лет назад
Do you also apply liquid fertilizer through the permagreen?
@TheGrassFactor
@TheGrassFactor 7 лет назад
Emily Burcham I don't mind using low analysis easily soluble products with low salt indexes, but I'm not going to run iron or muriate of potash through it. I know guys that use methylene urea and potassium thiosulfate through PG
@42swissmocha
@42swissmocha 7 лет назад
Thats what I figured, I do the same. What about your compost tea? Does the low volume application kill the microbes by evaporating too quickly?

I don't understand. Solitaire provides nearly an identical amount of quinclorac as Drive plus the second ingredient. How can that not be better than Drive?
@TheGrassFactor
@TheGrassFactor 5 лет назад
Because the rate of sulfentrazone isn't high enough to do what it advertises. It's cheaper to mix the two at the rates you need. Flexibility is a key to a successful weed management program

@@bosco008 sure, drive on hormones. But would still need additional sulfen to make it a more versatile crab + sedge product

Matt, which do you like using more Drive XLR8 or quinclorac df? How about mso or coc?
@TheGrassFactor
@TheGrassFactor 7 лет назад
Josh Whitaker I like XLR8 because I have this mental issue that it works better. does it? I don't know, it may be just mental. I prefer a crop oil vs mso. my favorite is a coc+organosilicone called Dyne-Amic. it is a serious serious adjuvant.
@42swissmocha
@42swissmocha 7 лет назад
I think solitaire is one of the better products on the market. However, I use the dry not the liquid. XLR8 drives me crazy will destroy some crabgrass and not touch some thats right next to the crabgrass that it torched. University people I deal with have the same issues. Kills about 75% of crabgrass. Defiantly need to mix it with MSO or something similar.
@TheGrassFactor
@TheGrassFactor 7 лет назад
+Emily Burcham emily, you aren't kidding about drive being finicky. If you like solitare, try mixing your own with a higher rate of drive. I think you'll be super pleased with the results.

make a video on confront herbicide the herbicide name is confront post-emergent
@TheGrassFactor
@TheGrassFactor 7 лет назад
Koronswagg 17 I would but confront is a restricted use product that cannot be applied to residential turfgrass. ok for golf courses and commercial sites, it's a great product to control difficult broadleaf weeds, but again, you cannot use confront on residential lawns. the grass clippings carry enough residual herbicide that if they were used in a garden, they would smoke the vegetables. it also has high potential of leaching into ground water.
