Hello! I just started breeding and I do not know who to turn to. I was anticipating a pregnancy but I didn’t know when it was going to happen since I didn’t see any signs of maturity. Anyways one of my cats pregnant and I separated her from the rest of the cats. She seems to be almost close. She’s always looking for hiding spots. But for the last 1 day ive noticed her having diarrhea. Like watery poop.. is it a sign that she’s very close to delivery or it’s something to be concerned about ?

hi! loose stool and frequent trips to the bathroom right before labor is not uncommon. If you dont know the conception date, you can guesstimate it by physical signs. Enlarged pink nipples is around 20+ days, and once the hair surrounding each nipple is bald it is usually down to the last 1-2 weeks. You can also check the temperature rectally. Queens who will deliver within 24 hours or so will have a temp of 98 degrees F. Restlessness and looking for hiding spaces is also a sign labor is approaching. To get your labor date, note the 1st day of breeding and add 65 days. that will give you a pretty accurate date to expect kittens. If your stud is inexperienced, you may need to actually start your counting when you actually know he successfully mated by either being in the room or listening. It will be extremely obvious when he was successful as the queen will yell and begin rolling around wildly all around the room. Also, its always a good idea to set your queen up in a room the last week or 2 so that she has the babies in a safe space otherwise she may have them in a hard to reach area or somewhere unsafe or have you searching all over for her babies. You can use a bathroom, bedroom etc. Hope that helps.

@@themilkbarblog no sign of giving birth yet. ! I think she’s sim her last two weeks though as I felt the kitten a little. But she’s still having diarrhea occasionally. At first constantly liquid for few days but once either started giving her pumpkin purée with her wet food it got better. She keeps getting diarrhea every time she eats dry food I realize after mid way through pregnancy (she was fine before though) but she constantly wants to eat that. She prefers wet food less and idk what to do. I feed her whenever she wants food but try avoiding dry food. She loves her kibbles. Also what do you say about raw diet ?
