Beer in the morning!? That’s it ...I’m leaving USA and moving to Germany! In America if you drink a beer in the morning people will think you’re an alcoholic. I love German beer. Weisswurst is my favorite sausage EVER. Its difficult to find here in Los Angeles but theres a little German village/market about 30 minutes away that sells it. 😃
Thanks for the video, we had a stopover in Munich and was told we must try German sausage, but we could only buy it duty free in a can. I carry these caned disgusting looking sausages around for the next 3 weeks, many times I was tempted to leave them behind, knowing they will taste disgusting as all canned goods do. But after watching your video, I’m looking forward to trying them, after I attempt to make your famous pretzels and sweet mustard. The best part will be to wash it down with a good German beer.🍺
Many German immigrants settled in our region of New York in the 19th and 20th centuries, and we have retained a form of the weisswurst as "the white hot dog." It is unique to our region, and goes quite well with sauerkraut.
We have this German franchising store called Lidl in Italy and this is where I find your Weisswurst! So delicious. I had no idea this was how you cooked them. Thanks I will definitely try it.
I live in Hungary and that's exactly where I bought these! It has sweet mustard too in a plastic pack in the package and the brand is the very same brand as in the video! Thanks Lidl for globalizing Weisswurst it was very delicious!!
Really enjoyed this video, as it brought back memories of the years I lived in Germany. In particular, it reminded of the wonderful experiences I had in Munich, and all of Bavaria actually. It was there that I learned about the way to eat weisswurst and the type of beer to have with it. It is indeed the quintessential breakfast, as evidenced by the fact it requires beer....and that it must be consumed in the morning. Perfecto!
Every time you post a video, there's a new twist. In this one, you show off your comedian skills. Very good! Keep it up! By the way - I strongly recommend Weihenstephaner weiß Bier, älteste Brauerei der Welt.👍🍺
Thank you so much for sharing this information about how to properly eat German sausage. I was always wondering whether or not to eat with the skin on or off but now I know thanks to you.
I was 9 and lived in Munich and we went to Neuschwanstein Castle and they serve Weiss Wurst with spiral cut white radishes sweet mustard, spaetzel, and with Liebfraumilch white wine.. I've searched for it in the USA and I cannot find it they have coarse cut Bratwurst
Apparently I do everything wrong when cooking and eating my Weisswurst. No wonder it doesn't taste like my first experience when my German aunt prepared it for me. We had it for dinner, but then, this was in Baden.
Sorry but us in South africa use hog intestines to make Borewors that we grill on the barbeque or fry the skin does not burst - but the caramslization adds huge flavour to it - so u Germans need to learn a thing or too - thanks for the nice video
The Bratwurst is the only table who has table salt because they are thick filling and are not processed and do not turn white, the Weißwurst and the Thüringer have phosphate and ice as you well say but both maintain the gray color
I had weisswurst a few times from schnell imbiss by the bahnhof in the 80s. Are those served pre peeled? I remember it having some snap so probably not.
If you dont feel any resiatence and no crunch at the bite it was peeled. You dont even feel it if you bite something or not. The meat is to tender and ,,melts,, between the teeth.
Great video, we have a few weisswurst in the freezer and i wasn't sure how to prepare them. One question - do you salt the water before you poach the weisswurst?
When you poach the weisswurst is there any seasoning in the water? The "pealing" is called Casing in English. I think the color is from being made from veal which cooks up white. I enjoy the weisswurst from the victuals market in Munich, I didn't realize I was using the gentleman's method of eating it. I wish you had more detail in the product.
Your English is nice. I wish I knew a second language as well as you. That said, I can get a beer, a pretzel, a sausage, a room, a bathroom, a window and most importantly, a lawnmower in German. Prost.
No. I grew up near Munich and no one ever touched the Weisswurst with their hands for any reason. Ever. We always use a fork and knife. No idea where this is coming from at all.
@@leenamannarkkad3765 when you are watching the video the settings in the top right corner will give you an option to turn captions on or off. Sometimes they give you multiple languages to choose from but sometimes it's only English.
We live in oregon and we have several German deli and butcher shops where we find it and yes it is my favorite sausage as is Bavarin mustard and a good German beer ! Prost
