I can't help but cry just at the thought of her leaving the game. Though I know it is time. I am so proud and blessed to have watched her play, such power, passion and determination. Love Serena.
What she did to Osaka when Osaka won was nothing short of despicable. Even when she loses it’s all about her. I’m not diagnosing her but I notice she is getting called a narcissist all over social media. After seeing her behaviour when she lost to Osaka I kinda believe it.
@@gregm55mullen62 say it like it is. Good riddance to the 2 arrogant sisters. Their next stop, anonymous mediocrity fading fast into absolute nothingness lmao
THANX Serena, from me, and YOU should Thank: Althea Neale Gibson and Arthur Ashe for showing the world that "WE" can play a little bit, too. THANX to your mom and dad, too, for teaching you and Venus layman bases because that is what carried you through.
Hell yes Serena Williams is, to this date the Greatest of All Time, in her sport. The tennis world will just have to live with that. I am so proud of the Williams sisters. They are "AWESOME"!!
Serena and her sister entered a tribal sport to which they didn't belong, look how graceful they dominated, in some quarters they were detested, looked down upon, derided, yet still they rise, I wish them all the best in the future.
Well said. Venus and Serena entered not just a tribal sport but a colonized empire; they beat the natives with their own weapons, and without trying to do so, stamped their images on the native's coins. Their success shows the power of an organized supportive family in which parents are committed to leading with love and youths are willing to follow.
She has done her time and moving on is good because injuries can last a lifetime and the body does wear down..Really loved watching her through the years
Just say it like it is... They've had their time therefore they can spend the last years of their arrogant lives in anonymous insignificant mediocrity lmao
Every time I hear Serena paved the way without including Venus ‘s name I feel sad. Venus needs to always be included that she was part of the change. She did not carry it by herself. Her sister opened the door and stood and clapped the whole way. Give credit to Venus too!!!! Even Serena says without Venus there would be no Serena!
Only Serena should be mentioned cause she accomplished a lot more. Unless Venus and Serena were the only black tennis players in the last 24 years, they shouldn't both be taking the spotlight.
Venus Williams lead the fight for equal prize money for women tennis players. She won the fight. That is what she will be most remembered for as a tennis player . That and her doubles career. Serena broke the all time record that is her achievement alone.
She along with her sister had to have the burden of being Black females in a white sport. The mental focus it takes to block out all the negative comments, boos etc is a lot for most people and it takes a very strong person to endure and be great at it.
I remember Serena telling that every time she went to a tournament she was drug tested, not randomly, every time. Serena is strong because that is spirit killing. Then I saw Charles Barkley on TV say that being a black man in America is stressful. I am white. It is up to white people to put a stop to this. If you see or hear abuse or disrespect and you don't object, you are condoning it.
7:00 I’m sorry, but she was defend her integrity here. Say what you wanna say, but I’m always gonna cheer up for the person that stands her ground regardless whatever “authority” is questioning it.
The game will never be as great or the same without Serena and Venus too. I grew up watching these two beautiful, powerful, warrior sisters since I was young. I'm blessed to have grown up in the time of superstar greatness in tennis, basketball, sports, music and entertainment. We will miss Serena is an understatement. #Proud #Empress #Fighter 🎾
An absolute outlier. Serena is the GOAT and will be remembered for her gift, unmatched discipline, sheer genius and refusal to be silenced by sexism and anti-Black racism. She is completely deserving of the adoration.
For me it was a pleasure watching these two sisters play and excel so great in tennis. I must say their contribution have been outstanding. Many have studied their way of playing and is now using it on a higher level and is doing well. Congratulations to all players former present and future. The Williams legacy lives on.
Can you imagine being a Sharapova at the top of her game and looking over the net to see the most intimidating player she has ever seen in Serena Williams as your next opponent. I don't think it's about Race or who is a beauty or a beast. Serena has shown she is the best to have ever played and that is what we remember.
@Macmel It's impossible to ignore the obvious difference from the stereotypical female tennis player to the physical size and power of Serena. Her arm strength is what drives not only her shotgun like serve but her return as well.
There are better ways to describe a Black female than a "beast" Steve. As a white man, I'm certain you _wouldn't_ understand. Why not try and learn how others experience life once in a while. It's called empathy.
@@Ad-Lo Your making my point. It never did matter to most of us who only respond and react to what Serena brought to the game. It had nothing to do with weather I am white black brown or blue. If your only going to see comments as Racist then how is that wrokin out for ya?
I think about the Bible quote that said "what good can come out of Nazareth?"Meaning the Savior and Redeemer of the world Jesus Christ came from low means. And then the saying what good can come out of Compton? Serena Williams prove that wrong too! I thank you Serena for your courage your sheer determination and drive against stereotyping, racism, male chauvinist etc. You proved them wrong!!!
Some people may not see it but she is the best tennis ever seen she changed the whole game no male competitor or female competitor achieve what she achieved plus the normal way of dressing she change it she was a designer in the sport Long Live Serena Williams the world's greatest tennis player just how Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player Muhammad Ali the greatest boxer Michael Jackson the greatest singer now Serena Williams the greatest tennis player
When you notice Talent skill and somebody who is just great and what they touch or what they do you just noticed it it have nothing to do in nationality I am not American
Sure she's still got it. I still had it at 55. But I never was doing what Serena is doing. At 40 it takes longer to heal and for the body to recuperate. But her body and mind still have the knowledge. Best of luck to you and your family Serena
the queens of tenis very proud to see them playing ,they made USA get to top of the world in tenis when she said that this time is the end tears came into my eyes , thanks girls i enjoyed as much as you did . bless your family.
Chris Everett came around a long time ago and started to be their number one supporter just when they needed it the most. So kudos for Chris, she stepped up in the best way and it truly made a difference coming from the most admired tennis legend at the time
No one is more powerful than Serena... No other female player has Serena's masculine power... I love you for paying For dah diamonds in my sneakers....
No no no. Ive watched a lot of these stories and you all need to get your facts straight. She wasn't born in Compton. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan. After 20+ years in the sport.. show some respect.
Oh yezzzzzz she is suuuuper gorgeous, she is...a hurricane of positive emotions we need the most, is that ...web connection is creating a lot of weird things, those who are capable to manage things brilliantly...l am just happy to know they belong to my heart, l never find time for Lady GaGa either most charming American celebrities that worth by now...billion views, but they become our biggest inspiration, you can bet on it, dear Serena you are doing a great job, never stop believe in. Sports competitions make life worth living, all kids of all schools on this planet deserve to give it a try, sports are giving us emotions that worth all the money in the world
Numero Uno can't no one take it away from you black girl you endured so much ignorance. Just like best black ice skater from France Surya Bonaly. God made you all beautiful. Thank you for inspiring others.
I love Serena's reputation and her achievements, but it would be nice to see such vigilance on "our" Black Civil Rights history and the people who are misplaced in it or missing from it altogether. M. L. King Jr is in the wrong place in "our" history; he was killed in Mobile, Alabama. Not Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Arthur Green Gaston is totally missing from "our" history in his true guise; he was the C.R. leader and financier; ML King Jr was his protege and the spokesperson for the C.R. Movement.
There where lots of white people with their Whites racist comments made toward Venus & Serena & my statement isn't racist, its a fact of what Serena & Venus had to go through beginning with those White Tennis players at that time. Lindsey Davenport, Martina Hinges, Jennifer Capriatti, Justin Henin, Anna kronnicova, etc & if I spelled there names wrong so be it. There where Many, of them who tried to bully them by their racist comments in the Tennis Locker rooms. But these Girls where not to be F#cked with & the only 2 at the time who didn't like what they where hearing & seeing was MONICA SELES & DR.J'S daughter who played tennis during that era. They thought she was white, because she was light skined. They let them know what was being said. The WHITE Crowds yelling racist comments yet these 2 Williams sisters where not to be intimidated. They took the tennis by storm, whipping ass after ass until they all retired & those who came in from other Countries who thought they could do the same thing got sent home cause they where no match w/ the speed & power of the Williams sisters, that's why all those White tennis Players Not only from the US, but from the European countries had to go back & train 20× harder to be able to compete. Venus & Serena Never complained or listen to what White People had to say about them because Richard & their Mother had them prepared. They where named the Gazelle Venus for her graceful moves & reach & the 🐅 Tiger & Serena for her meaness & athletic attack . Pure Jealousy from those white players during that time,. They all soon retired because they couldn't compete at that level but later had to give respect. Like many Whites who are called beautiful isn't Beautiful because their White, but so called Beauy couldn't handle the so called beast & the one game she won, Serena went partying the night before which is no excuse, but after that so called Beauty who later on was caught for using drugs that could help her strength wise, didn't. She Still lost to Serena,19 to Sharapova's 2. Serena was tested more then anyone & never a drug in her body. So called Beauy tired every until retirement & still Serena was graceful by letting Sharapova know she belong in tennis. So the so-called Beast has dresses like a model, carry herself like a queen & speak 9 different languages, & has treated their opponents with respect, even if they didn't recieve it. On the court their enemies, just like their opponents sees them. Especially Serena, two sisters, two different personalities. So the so called Beast has done more for people including Whites, then the so called Beauty. Thank you Serena & Venus for never allowing those low minded White racist, ignorant, selfish, DEPLORABLES run you away from playing a game of 🎾 tennis that belonged to all races. You have the title GOAT, while the so called Beauty could never match up to what Whites were hoping for, white Russian dominates the Black Beast. Now the so-called White Beaty can eat Candy from her candy business, while the so-called Beast is being Honored for all she has done for tennis. Thank you Serena for your gracious smile, your Class, & how you represented the People of Color. You are THE GOAT of all times. I'm sure some see it differently or have their version, but Fact is Fact & its also in a documentary on how they where treated.
@@flynn4838 Really, whats so gotdamn funny. You think that my comments in reference to the fucked up statement in which Serena has always been called out her name one way or another with those who write or comment comparing her to any White player, may it be US or Europeans as a Beast, etc. contrived drive. Its obvious you really weren't sure what to say. And its a obvious I hit a nerve, so keep LAUGHING YOUR ASS OFF because with all the names she's been called over the years, Mrs. Beast is Laughing all the way to the Bank.
Why is that dude wearing a dress. They're taking these pronouns a bit too far. He shouldn't be allowed to compete against women until he progresses further with his estrogen therapy either, crazy world we live in now days.
Serena was born in Saginaw Michigan, she was not born in Campton wtf moderator or reporter do your fucking research before dishing wrong information like you supposed to get this 109% right...Serena is originally from Saginaw Michigan period!
Her father saw it all.. two talented daughters. But one could not stand being #2 to anyone. Her sister and father and mother helped Serena own the fire 🔥🔥🔥.

Superb recapping of the real Wonder Woman life’s story! Serena, no matter what you do or where you go you’ll always be a part of our hearts. May God’s blessings be with you and all your family members, especially your daughter.
Open Era. Hello!? How many grand slams did Margaret Court win outside of the open era? Serena won all of hers during the open era. Vaults her way above Margaret Court as far as the greatest of all time title goes.
