This panel owes John McEnroe an apology. They made FOOLS of themselves weighing in against an expert on something they know absolutely zero about. And then had the nerve to get all fussy and huffy about it, demanding an apology from someone who simply told the truth when asked a question.
The truth hurts the "feelings" of the PC indoctrinated. Mac had right once again - let the women play the men to see who is the greatest of all time. Mac is the last of the "manly" men that will publicly speak the truth despite the backlash and whining babies.
@@JohnSmith-it6hj ok guys, calm down. She is wrong, but dont go overboard with the marxist and communist thing. She is wrong, thats all. (enjoy the loss in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, you are not able to win anything, you are sending your sons to die and suffer and they have no program to go back to a civilian life, you are behaving like a 3rd world country).
Thanks to the tennis community for taking him up on his offer and validating what all men (not SIMP's) knew,....all non delusional non feminist bulldogs knew.....and what anyone with an IQ higher then their shoe size could figure out. They wasted millions on this dumb sh**. This show (millions). I don't know what price this man had to pay mentally having to sit with 3 senior citizens who wasted his time questioning a fact they all knew was just that "A F****** FACT"!!!!! "Do you think you should apologize for telling a truth that makes our delusional viewers uncomfortable?". Why don't most young people watch tv like this, why do people storm the White House, why don't majority of people like the police, why don't people listen to politicians and people who think they're the Authority.....because (even though there are still a higher percentage of easily manipulated people in the world) there are those who help guide the easily manipulated and show them how full of sh** the people like the 3 senior citizens on the show are. And it builds mistrust and anger. Both lasting a long long time.
The common sense in this comments section warms my heart. Media panels like this really believe they are in the right and that most people agree with them.
Most people don't agree with them , they would just have people think that ,by only having people on as guests who agree with them or people they know will back down against the mob and agree with things they don't really agree with or are willing to make fake apologises to get these hyena type leftists off their back. John mcenroe refusing to back down or apoligse, that was refreshing. Lol.x
He did well for a man his age. Men that old and older quake in their boots when women get mad at them. If men of his generation don't actually worship women, they come pretty damn close. They can't see through women's behavior at all, so women run circles around them and call all the shots. Hence, the ridiculous and sometimes appalling excesses of feminism since the Sixties. So, yes, the fact that John McEnroe did not completely fold on command shows great courage... graded on the very generous sliding scale that his generation needs to get by. On an absolute scale, he did the bare minimum to pass as far as I'm concerned. He stood his ground. That gets you a D. You can tell they scared him; it shows in the way he speaks at certain moments. Still, he stood his ground. A C performance would have been unequivocally unapologetic, no fear. A B performance would have shot back. An A performance would have turned the tables and forced these monstrous females to play defense and an A+ performance would have had them hanging from the cross before the commercial break.
McEnroe in trouble for telling the truth. He was being as gracious and complimentary as possible until the agenda-driven NPR interviewer just backed him into a corner and he had to lie or bust the interviewer's bubble with an inconvenient truth.
@@nataliefreeman5237 Exaggerative? Serena lost to a 203 ranked male player who beat her right after he smoked half a pack of ciggerates. She'd be ranked 1000.
This is truly insane! I am a woman and I know, as an avid fan of tennis, that he is 100% correct! It is insanely embarrassing that Gayle King HAS NO IDEA about the sport. I have second hand cringe embarrassment! Gayle King NEEDS to apologize.
We all know what he's saying is true... 700 is probably a bit extreme, but Serena herself has said he wouldn't win a single point against Federer so why are you all acting so shocked?
@ Akeem Murdock.....literally one week later he was ranked 330. He already lost in the Australian where he played the Williams sisters consecutively ......and was already set to be lose ranking points. Williams said "maybe I can beat a top 300 male", after losing to him badly........ And that player replied........".ok, we can play again.....that would be me, I am set to slide in the ranking".
It's even worse than that. Both Serena and her sister Venus at their physical peak played back to back against Karsten Braasch, the 203rd ranked men's player, and he demolished both of them 6-1 and 6-2 respectively.
The reality is Serena is GREAT against other women, but please don't be ridiculous and think she could compete against MEN. The same way men can't compete against women at giving birth...it's just absurd.
The fact that this argument was even brought up is testament to Serena,s ability to probably beat some of the men on the ATP tour. There is a video of her training at one of Mouratouglo,s camps ....where she plays with one of the ATP male players ... and he gets kicked around a fair bit . So it is possible .
CaptainKarma1972 not really mate, she did play a 200 ranked guy and got totally crushed and that was after the guy played a round of golf before the game and he was even drinking beer and smoking while changing games. There are two reasons why the subject is brought up: 1) Serena and her sister mouthed they could handle the guys, after the aforementioned match they realized the truth and kept their mouths shut. 2) Ignorant people who dont know a thing about tennis, like for example that in a lot of tournaments women play with different balls just to mention one example.
In soccer, the Dallas Under-15 Boys team beat the U.S. women's national team. Think about that. One city's boys, barely into puberty, beat the elite of the entire U.S. female population. If anything, John McEnroe might be overstating Serena's ability to play against men.
Not only that. That Dallas team was nowhere near the best even in their age group. Like light years from the best boys U-15 team. On the other hand, that women's team was the best women's squad in the world.
Not to disagree with the overall point but do want to clarify to any one seeing this comment that it was not "one city's boys." This wasn't a local youth team, it was the U15 team for FC Dallas from the MLS. FC Dallas isn't a top club in the MLS and the MLS isn't a top league in the world, but I do think its important to clarify this point.
He was asked the question by the NPR interviewer....he did not offer it up. It was a leading question. And he was right on the money. In fact, Serena, Chrissy and Martina have all said the exact same thing in the past. He was also a great champion and he gave mad respect to Serena during this interview. When will women realize that, in sports, there is a difference. yes, many women can beat many men in many sports, but at the elite level, it is a different deal all together. it certainly does not mean that it is a knock against women, its just the way it is. There is no women, period, that can compete with Tom Brady, there is no women that can pitch like Nolan Ryan, there is no women that can compete with Steph Curry in a real game situation. in fact, women use a different size basketball......and John McEnroe can beat many of the women on the tour right now at his age.
if women want to be treated as equals then let them play 5 sets. They already get equal pay for only playing 3 sets when was the last time you saw a women on the tennis court for over 5 hours which is more common for men
I respect this so much, he doesn’t let himself get bullied by the attitude of the hosts. «Would you like to apologize»🤦♂️He’s just stating facts, no bad intentions at all.
I think his comment was very appropriate & necessary. Glad he said it, it needed to be said. And classy of him to say this yet have sense enough to not bow to a dumb apology!
These people dont want to listen to Mac because he makes sense of the truth. They just want to attack what he said. I personally think John was being generous with 700.🎾
Tj Stewart agreed...we had this about 20 years ago, Connors vs Navratilova and Connors won in straight sets even with Connors 1 serve vs Navratilova 2 serves. Even Chris Evert many years ago said when she was#1 in the world, her older brother John could still beat her in singles
Why would he apologize? Serena even said she agrees. What's the problem? "Would you like to apologize for speaking the truth? We don't tolerate that on mainstream media!" "No." This guy is great!
The problem here guys is that John gave a qualified reply to a question. The embarassing thing for womens tennis is that they are on the same prize money and yet, are miles down on actual tennis performance and ability. I love the Womens game too of course, but this is an indication of the ability gap versus the same money. They don't want that brought up again for discussion.
There is a pay gap because men have to play 5 rounds and women get paid the same for 3 (and their viewing figures are less as well). Women tennis players are VERY lucky that tennis lends itself to having matches in the same location on the same day otherwise the viewing figures would be similar to other female sports, i.e. non-existent. (same for female mma)
they only play best of 3 sets so how do they deserve the same pay when the men are wearing themselves out playing best of 5? you think people are really paying for tickets to see the women's draw? give me a break, and grow the F up snowflake.
Great point, if both men's and women's tours combined who'd be betting Serena would earn more money in this scenario? By keeping them separate the women earn much more.
That is not the issue with the same purses for women's tennis. Payouts should be based on revenue brought in. And THAT is the big thing wrong with women getting the same money, at least for Grand Slam events. They play an average of 35-40% shorter matches since they play only 3 set matches compared to the men's 5 sets. And like all sports, the VAST majority of revenue comes from TV deals, and the vast majority of money comes from advertising. So by having matches that are mush shorter, they are bringing in far less money. But it shouldn't matter which side is better. When Misty May and Kerri Walsh were lighting up the volleyball circuit, they made MORE than men because they were the ones bringing in the ratings.
I never hear people try to compare the best wnba players to the likes of Michael Jordan why do it with tennis? obviously Serena and all other women would be no match for the top male players
"But John you didn't answer Charlie's question". He did answer it... The question was: "why was it necessary for you to say that Serena couldn't beat the 700th player on the men's circuit?" John gave his reason why he felt it was necessary. Either you weren't listening or you didn't hear what you wanted to hear.
So glad John stood up and didn't set a dangerous precedent by apologizing for this nonsense.. Btw, I'm pretty sure that the old guy interviewing him has been castrated for a long time.
The "old guy" is no longer on the show. And yes, his balls did get him in trouble allegedly. Some harpies claimed that he disrobed in front of them and revealed that he did in fact have BALLS! And now they're damaged beyond repair, and so are suing him for millions in order to deal with the pain and suffering of having to see balls.
He was very complimentary about Serena. It was the NPR lady that pressed him. Women peak athletes competing against men peak athletes. 700 may be generous. Why is this an insult to women? The biology is different....we should have learned this by 8th grade health.
Number 57 woman recently played the number 1145 man She lost 5-7 and 2-6 McEnroe wasn’t too far off. The news media needs to apologize to him for dragging him through the mud for a very truthful statement.
"would you like to apologize." these clowns dont know anything about tennis and is sitting here questioning someone who has been playing tennis for years, he doesn't need to apologize for the fatcs
I feel like he answered the questions in their entirety, with facts and experience backing the words not political correctness or trying not to hurt any feelings.
The NPR interviewer saw the dangling red meat to virtue-signal to the rabid PC audience over this non-issue. It's completely absurd to compare men and women's tennis. The interviewer felt the need to do it, and if any bigotry is to be found here it's in the interviewer.
No reason to apologize Johnny Mac! She threw a classless, SJW tantrum and displayed the best example of BAD SPORTSMANSHIP. Her latest commercial she mouths: "momma said knock you out". Too bad, that works both ways, Sore-ena; "momma's" name that day was NAOMI, LMAO!!!
Good stuff, John, do NOT apologise, because there is nothing to apologise for. Serena is one of the great athletes of all time. Serena thought that she was being treated unfairly because a 20 year old Japanese national was depriving her of her 24th grand slam title, and her second major in succession after losing Wimbledon th Kerber. Serena is a shocking bad sport. Thak God she was not playing a white opponent, as you can bet your bottom dollar that the race card would have come out. Poor Serena is suffering from victim mentallity.
Serena has lost to white women before you tool and race was never a factor. You brought up race because you clearly have an underlying issue with race.
Serena has lost to white females in slam finals before so your attempt to categorize people as somehow playing a race card is ridiculous. You apparently have the problem.
This is actually nothing to do with Serena, she said herself men are more powerful and she would get beaten by any male player in the top 700 or whatever, it’s these stupid reporters. There is no shame in admitting it, it’s just a simple fact that men are naturally more athletic, that’s why men’s and women’s sports are kept separate l
I read somewhere that when he said that the #700 player on the Men’s tour was Dmitry Tursunov...anyone who knows tennis would agree Tursunov would beat Serena handedly. I’d be surprised if she won 4 games total
The fawning media, many of whom are personal friends of Serena’s - Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Anna Wintour-have turned her into the entitled diva we saw at the US Open. Anyone who dares to pierce her over-inflated ego, to write or say anything unflattering about her, gets raked over the coals. One comment from McEnroe warrants a talk-show appearance to defend himself? It’s ludicrous...
They already did the battle of the sexes though. Venus Williams and Serena Williams challenged a guy ranked 203 in the world and both got dominated, 1 after the other without breaks. And the guy was playing golf and had a few drinks before going against them; he also said he didn't try hard to keep it some what competitive but even than beat them 6-1 and 6-2 respectively. We already did this experiment with the exact same girl.
How stupid are people that it’s still a debate whether women are physically disadvantaged in sports over men? This is SETTLED. Stop the BS of ‘this high school boy could beat this professional female player’ of course we all KNOW THAT. What it seems is they people already know this but they use it to minimize the achievements of women in sports.
She told the chair empire to apologize! He didn't communicate well warning her that he would take a game away! Hello I'm ready for a bagel match with Johnny Mac!
Good on John McEnroe speaking truth, even when these media vipers spew nothing but lies. I played HS tennis and college rugby - women’s teams. No way could any of us have kept up with our male counterparts. That’s no insult to myself as a woman - it’s just living in reality.
John was being kind. Go look at matches on youtube that the 900th ranked man plays. He would absolutely whip Serena. Serena is the best women’s player is a more than enough statement to make.
Apologize for what??? Way to stand behind your comments. So nice of him to break it down for the panel. Typical news, they try to turn something harmless into an issue. That show is a joke.
