IndyCar in Oval trim would be lapping F1 cars within 20 laps and F1 engines would blow like popcorn after 400km. I love both series but this comparison is a stretch.
I don't know about that, formula one cars would need to have their engines tuned and have an aero package among other things that would be ideal for that specific oval track would be able to beat an indycar. On the flip side if an indycar was configurated to race on circuits formula one cars race on there's no way that indycar would win, if anything the F1 car would lap it but it would depend on how many laps the race was gonna be.
I felt the F1 cars were matched way too close. Given the engine advantage Ferrari and Mercedes have over Renault and Honda, the F1's should have stretched more allowing also more space for the Indy's to pass (if specced for oval racing...)
Amazing job your simulations are unparalleled and I enjoy the F1 vs Indy comparisons. I agree with your assessments in how they would end up in their proper configurations, which is only the Indy car either in oval or road setups. Indy cars wouldn't have a chance with an F1 car in a road race and an F1 car wouldn't have a chance against an Indy car in an oval. That's of course dependant on the Indy car in its high speed oval package... Great job I enjoy watching all your simulations!
Raine Järvinen on an oval an f1 has no chance against the oval version of the indycar that does 380kph easy while the 2018 f1 car reaches 340kph max, even the approximate 360kph from 2004 f1s wouldn't be enough to beat the oval version of indycars, indycars are primarily built to race on ovals even the road version, this video proves it, the indycar keeps slowing down because the f1s aren't fast enough even with drs open
ItzAnonymous mate F1 cars don't need much of speed in the straights, corner speed is the most important, but if you get them the right setup for ovals you'll see them smoking indycars, F1 is on another level bro don't get fooled by that "340km/h thing" you see in the Tv , F1 can reach 400km/h easy, trust me
This isn’t what would happen at all.... F1 cars can only attain a comparable top speed to IndyCars with DRS and KERS, but with no way to recharge their battery to utilize the KERS, their top speed would drop significantly after a short time.
dechiller03 you’re right, it is ERS, not sure why I said KERS. But in any case, ERS these days provides twice as much power as the old KERS system, so not having it would have an even larger detrimental effect on their top speed anyways.
They did that in the 60's in Monza. They used the complete layout including the oval and did a real race with indys and f1s together. It was called race of both worlds. Also when the 500 miles where part of the F1 world championships.
Idk if its possible but the cooler test would be to take alot of downforce off the F1 car and open the gears up. They are built for acceleration and cornering. Not all out speed for Daytona. Set both cars up for an oval and redo it.
The reason the IndyCars are slower than the F1 cars at Daytona is because the are on the high downforce setup. Had they been on the low downforce setup, the would most likely blow past the F1 cars with ease.
lambocentenaRIO 2114 bro didn't you see what I've written???? F1 cars don't need to reach that kind of speed on track, if they want they can make it bro, Indy needs that cause them races are mostly on ovals, get an F1 the right setup and you'll see mate, Indy ain't got shit on F1

Cool video and that's coming from a huge Indy car fan. In all reality I think the rules are what holding F1 back. If allowed to do what the engineers could do, they could make an F1 car as faster faster than an Indy car because of sheer horsepower and weight differences. However I will also say that the IndyCar can do a lot more than they are allowed to do as well but given an all-out Best Shot for both cars I think the F1 is just a higher horsepower lighter car that could beat into an Indy car around and oval if given the chance. And again that's coming from a huge Indy car fan that understands both series very well
But doesn't some of F1s HP come from ERS? Which means going flat out like this would eventually cause them to run out of electricity and slow down a bit
Of course the other reason this would never happen is the "halo" protection device on the F1 cars would impede visibility on the high banks of an oval. It would be WAY too dangerous. Still cool to think about it, though!
using a track like daytona was mistake Number 1 here since for cars like this, it wouldnt ever work. and you can hear the Indy AI were having to let off since there was no way to pass for the most part. a track like indianapolis would have allowed more passing and the F1 cars wouldnt hold up the indy cars as much. also there was another comment saying the Road aero package was being used since if they had the oval aero package on, they would be probably faster than the F1 cars using DRS.
I can't think of any scenario where an indycar can beat a formula one car in a race regardless of the track/circuit they race on. Imho Indycar's only chance of beating a formula one car is if they raced on an oval under F1 rules.
While an F1 car will be faster on an oval track over a short period, they are not designed to be flat out for such a long period of time (i.e. 500 miles). IndyCars are. P.s. you used the IndyCar road course wings which have more downforce and drav
I would like to point out Flash itself admits FlashTV® 1 month ago It’s more equal with Road version.. with oval version cars they would have won easly ☺️. Now could F1 set up the cars to win I do not think so. IndyCars right now enjoy a 5 mph top speed advance at top spec, and ovals are all about speed.

@@juanvillalba2404 i have literally seen that race live and he said " all I had to do is turn left" in post race interview. Hearing a person live is far more authentic than a 3rd party info.
@@PineappleForScale Of course, in oval races it's about turning left but that does not mean it's easy, you can ask Alonso that he had a little distraction and kiss the wall at 350 km / h, most F1 drivers would not dare to run in an oval
@@juanvillalba2404 Of course when I saw it live I also saw the way and the tone of his voice and his facial smirky expression too. Which indicates more about a person's feelings than a plan text like " all I had to do is turn left"
Rodrigo Merlone it's too dangerous because without major restrictions on the car, IndyCars would reach speeds of 250mph and the drivers would pass out because of the g-forces in the high banked corners.
You are right. In fact, that almost happened at the track in Texas back in 2001 during the Cart/Champ Car series. The drivers were suffering from dizziness during practice and I think one actually may have blacked out so they canceled the race. There are several videos about it on RU-vid and they are worth checking out, especially the one with Adrian Fernandez driving.
@@Science_Atrium ni en tus sueños, el f1 es tan lento que el indycar tuvo que levantar para no arrollarlos, ni con su famoso DRS es rival para un indycar que estuvo con el aerokit de circuitos
@@juanvillalba2404 Speak english, I'm not spanish. Indycars are fast only in straights, but in corners they are so slow that they would lose even in an oval. F1 acceleration is way better than indycar's, and corner speed too.
1. Indy v6 sounds better (in real life) 2.Indycars should have destroyed considering the less downforce giving them a 20mph advantage per lap. 3.can we do this with in restricted stock cars? Pls
Okay, DRS is just unfair advantage for the F1 cars. I mean, they already have ERS, and I know IndyCars have P2P, but there's a limited amount of that. I'm just finding something to complain about lol
The title should be F1 cars vs GP2 car vs Indycars. Damn alonso is still giving them a fight. All thanks to the Mclaren driver who maintained alonso's respect
1. The F1 cars would have dead batteries after a lap. 2. The F1 cars couldn't be that close to each other going into the corners, they would wash up the track straight into the wall. 3. F1 cars should never be seen on an oval.
