All geared up: Lower TCV soon to become boarding school for Tibetans in the west 

The number of Tibetan families in the west able/willing to send their children to a boarding school far away would be very limited. TVC should use its resources to creat a online Tibetan school to let children in the west learn the language daily(0.5-1 hour), and develop textbooks to meet different groups' needs. Both side will benefit from this.

@@TibetanPlateau The whole world knows who would do such stupid things in the old days practicing calling it culture and who will risk their children's lives and pushing them into the swamp. Many such agendas were made in the past, all failed and new ones started being created with new names.

@@TibetanPlateau If the objective is language preservation, online classes are not sufficient. Children require full immersion to speak it at a sufficient level. Once they can do that, they will naturally also preserve Tibetan mentality, customs, and thus "culture."

first of all. online class may sound good but it works best for adults since they are willing to learn new skills to go ahead in life. but asking children to do the same won't yeild the same good result. i have seen how students study during covid. only a few may be motivated to do well but most students fail to do so. plus they are teachers who can teach online. but most teachers are not skilled enough to teach online. that takes a different kind of preparation. teachers need training and equipments as well as organisation to do so. if it only was that easy teach online and solve the problem looming over our culture and language. your suggestion might be one of the solution but i can tell u will absolute garantee that going to school is far superior to online classes. after all we are not just expecting to learn a language but culture as well. and there is no better place to learn other than living with your people. i leave the rest to your intelligence.

@@ziikgames7986 The Tibetan community Sunday schools will do the culture teaching part such as art and religion. Online and in person classes can cooperate. If the online school is initiated by the TCV, I believe the resources will be much better and more systematic than those online language tutors.

Mussories home student are 90% Indian and teachers themself are forgetting they are in Tibetan school or indian school TCV is doing very good and alway the best school for Tibetan.

I have graduated from this school some years ago but I didn't see ltcv as bhoot Bangla or so. It is in good condition. So, better don't judge book by its cover.

It is not possible that India's top school education system is too expensive or only Bourgeois families or industrialists or politicians children can afford or I don't think so much can be spent by the administration. That's why India's own citizens Indians go abroad to study outside India.

Tcv school in india has planned to turn lower tcv school into a school where tibetan students abroad can learn their language and culture from class 4 to 8. The education model will be designed accordingly keeping in mind the western model. So that they can go back and continue their studies once they pass out from this school. It's not a money making scheme. The fee might sound expensive but they will be provided more amenities such as accommodation, food , medical services, music, sports and wifi.

Schools in india are lacking students and since there are major demographic shift towards West. What do u think schools should do? Ahud they close all school? It's not just about education or making money. But tcv also employs lots of tibetan teachers and other staff who are totally dependent on the society. Tcv just can't kick them out. And by the way no one is forcing anyone here. It's an option. It is not the 60's or 70's. Tcv can't afford to admit students for free if that's what u r looking for. Events needs money to run properly.

@@ziikgames7986 I seen kids who went there from the west, didn’t come back any brighter, struggle with language inefficiency, unable to keep up with classes here, lmao, you guys in India made money though, that’s all it’s about?

@@GenghistopG well its up to the parents now. i am sorry u had bad experience with tcv. i have bad experience too. but there could be many factors at work here if the kids didn't come back any brighter. may be they arent bright to begin with. i have been a teacher and i know not every student could be bright. but i won't judge tcv for starting a new initiative for a good purpose. if it works or not remains to be seen.

@@ziikgames7986it’s not like my family was financially stable enough to travel to India, did about a year in Tibetan school located in Nepal where they stuck me in 6th grade instead of 9th after transfer from another school over Tibetan, lmao.
