This guide is STILL up to date (even after the ascension update), there are a few corrections below but besides that it's all accurate! Corrections: - Mimic orbs DO NOT move with the mimic, they work the exact same way as normal ghost orbs and simply stay in the ghost room. - Banshee can ONLY roam to its target if that target is on the same floor as the ghost. This is to prevent the ghost from running all over the map on big maps. - Hantu's breath ability (see video) is pretty useless, but it can actually be useful on apocalypse challenges where you have no evidence and have to figure it all out during a hunt! This can help you distinguish between Hantu, Moroi, and Thaye easier. - In the Ascension update they have made it so that Mare's can touch keyboards and TV remotes, you can no longer use that to rule out mare. - In the Ascension update they changed the Demon. The Demon will now have a 50% increased range for the crucifix rather than a fixed 5m range. This means that the T1 crucifix has 3 + 1.5 = 4.5m, the T2 has 4 + 2 = 6m, and the T3 has 5 + 2.5 = 7.5m versus Demon. - In the Ascension update they changed the Moroi. Instead of having a 100% longer smudge stick duration it's now only 50%. And they also reduced the duration of the smudge stick across the board. So now the Moroi will only be stunned for 5 + 2.5 = 7.5 seconds instead of 12 seconds. This is an INSANE buff for moroi that I still don't understand at all. The moroi is already one of the strongest ghosts in the game so this change makes no sense at all. Everything else is still accurate AFAIK (if you think that's not the case feel free to send me a message on discord!)
I guess hantu breath could be useful if you are not playing alone. One player provoke the hunt and hide while the other observe from the trailer through cameras
Ok so to summarise (correct me if I'm wrong): Spirit: last resort as normal and boring Wraith: no salt stepping Phantom: - take ghost picture, it will not show up. To check, 3 star/ghost word below it - the interval that they are invisible is greater/you see them less when they hunt Poltergeist: polty pile, it will shoot items like crazy Banshee: - to check, single-player, confirm ghost room, get a distance away with motion sensor between for a few times on a single floor. - to check, multiplayer, see if it only chases one person on a single floor. (Or do the single player one but you'd have to split up with motion sensors to know who the target is) Jinn: Will not turn the breaker off (with the exception of popping it), speeds up with LOS + far away Mare: Hates lights, will not turn on lights. Will turn off lights/break lights more often (with ghost events) Will pull an "I GIVE UP YOU CAN HAVE THE ROOM" aka change rooms if you keep turning on the lights Revenant: Without LOS, slow af. With LOS, GL you ded. You have to break LOS/off any and all equipment you are using immediately and consecutively to lose it Shade: as a wise man once said "it's been awfully quiet guys" Demon: - early/frequent hunts - burnt crucifix in an undesirable spot - will get faster as it chases (applies to most ghosts) Yurei: touched door twice or more Oni: - more ghost events - cannot do 'airball' ghost event (no hissing) - the interval that they are visible is greater/you see them more when they hunt Yokai: - will only hunt early when you talk near it - will only detect you at a much shorter range (blind basically) Hantu: - will always give freezing temps as evidence - won't speed up like other ghosts but by lowering the temperature of the room, gradually catches up - (probably useless in real game but) cannot turn on the breaker and if it's cold enough it will show breath - will want to turn off the breaker more Goryo: - will always give dots as evidence - you can only see said dots evidence through a video cam - will never change room Myling: - quiet footsteps when hunting - noisy outside of hunting Onryo: - hunts immediately after blowing out 3 candles - won't hunt if there's lit candles - for every kill, the chance for hunting after blowing out a candle increases The Twins: - two actions at a similar time - decoy/fast twin will start from last event - only 1 twin will hunt at any time - Bonus: slow twin is main twin Raiju: - fast with electronics, slow when far from it. - biggest glitch effect among all ghosts. Obake: - possible that when it touches something it doesn't leave a fingerprint but later it does - small chance that it leaves a 6 finger fingerprint - will always give fingerprints/ultraviolet as evidence - uv timer cut in half - 6.66% chance it will blink into another ghost model The Mimic: - can be anything, can do anything - EMF 5, DOTS, ghost writing ≠ mimic 🎉 Moroi: - increases speed the lower your sanity, starting from 50% - if you use spirit box or parabolic mircrophone, it will put a curse on you that drains your sanity - the curse will not be removed unless you pop pills - will always give spirit box as evidence Deogen: - it always knows where you are - fast to catch up with you, slow when it reaches you - starts hunting at lower sanity Thaye: - starts hunting early - super fast early game (especially if you've not been near it) but slow late game cuz old. Forced evidence: Freezing temps -> Hantu DOTS -> Goryo Fingies/ultraviolet -> Obake Spirit Box -> Moroi, Deogen I tried to avoid stuff related to checking sanity and add more useful stuff that even a beginner could make use of in game
actually u can do a spirit test in phasmo, when i think it’s a spirit i smudge and if it takes way longer to move after i smudge im pretty certain its a spirit
For the Twins, since the decoy hunts from its last interaction and the crucifix only checks for where the main ghost's body is, The Twins is the only ghost that can hunt within range of a crucifix.
There actually IS a use case for the Hantu's breath. If you play in multiplayer and not sure about if it's a Hantu and someone died. you can have the rest of the crew hide, turn off the breaker, wait for a hunt and ask the dead player to pay attention to it. After that just tell them to throw an item 3 times if they saw it to signal you.
@@tim_bublitz Yeah. I only play with my friend as a duo and if any of us dies, especially if we play no evidence, the other player keeps playing and gets to ask yes/no questions after hunts and 2 throws is yes, one is no. We figured out quite a few ghosts for the living player this way and the dead players gets to have fun not just sit idly and bored.
I think it would be cool if you could get people to clip rare ghost interactions from your livestream and then use those clips to show stuff on screen during this guide. Instead of just talking about jinn speeding up you could show a clip of it, you should show onryo's shapeshifting ability, deogen spirit box response etc.
@@Light-xb7zl do the interactions have to be in different rooms or a bit apart? or could it happen in the same spot bc that would still make it hard for me cause idk if its just one ghost throwing something off and moving a door back to back if that makes sense
@@ac-tb4ni it could be either, but ghosts can only roam a decent distance from the ghost room so if you know where the ghost room is and ur super far from it and a cup is thrown or something its twins
That Banshee explanation was so helpful. My group had a game last week where the ghost just barreled past rest us for my friend and killed him and we were all super confused why he was singled out.
for people who need something quick to share with friends. please let me know if i left out anything important(im tired its 1am) Spirit: smudge lasts 3m. 1.7 speed, speeds up on line of sight. 50% sanity. The twins: has a chance of interacting within .5s of each other, can happen in different parts of the map. has a 50% chance to start a hunt from the last ghost thrown object outside the room(up to 60m from). 1.8 speed if object hunt, 1.6 if room hunt. 50% sanity. as a newer player, this is such a help, i’ve gotten better at identifying stuff just from experience, but having all the up to date info is so nice, appreciate it man!
It would have been amazing if he gave us video examples of a lot of things like comparing Phantom/Normal/Oni blinking, showing Obake shapeshift, Hantu breath, Onryo crucifix/candle interaction. It would take a bit of editing and voice overlaying but it would've been so great and informative.
maggstor made a video where she completed a no evidence case from square one explaining all the tests for each ghost and she added video examples for all the ghost abilities she wasn't able to show, check it out
At the end, once you got Ghost Orbs and Spirit Box, it was obvious that it was a Yokai -It was not a Mare because it turned on a light earlier, and it hunted above 40% in a lit room -It was not an Onryo because you held a lit candle for over two and a half hours and it didn't hunt because of it Imagine it was an Onryo, tho, it would have been perfect for this video
It's here! It's here! Thanks SO much for this in-depth guide Insym!❤️ ...Now just to get over my fear of ACTUALLY seeing the ghosts themselves, some of them are so scary! Lol. Especially when it's small or crawling 😆
This is especially me when the ghost starts crawling to me with its back broken backwards. The others don't bother me(except seeing a revenant run at you with full speed)but that is a whole new level of scary 📈📈📈
The Myling's ability was updated to apply to its hunting sounds as well as its footsteps. Ever since they did that, I've been able to reliably identify Myling just from its hunting sounds.
"Demons can be dangerous" Yes sir. I don't relax until I get evidence that excludes Demon (and ideally the mimic as well just to be safe). Thanks for the update Insym. Your guides are the best. Watching your videos has helped me be bolder in the game... even if I'm a bit slow to remember all of it, and sometimes tackle the ghost when I get too excited about trying to loop it
you know, ive seen other you tubers play phasmophobia, and yet your the most knowledgeable for playing the game the correct way. yes the quirky shenanigans are funny, but i see the actual game play in your videos. well done and keep up the great videos. looking forward to them:)
I think it would be great if the Goryo's ability to only be visible on camera was applied not just to DOTS Projector, but for other situations where the ghost is visible. I think it would be terrifying for the ghost to be invisible during a hunt and you need to identify it by seeing it with a video camera as it chases you.
I found this channel a few months ago and have been an avid watcher on here and twitch since! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into making these amazing videos!💜
Hey Insym! I'm a new viewer! I love Phasmophobia and I have like 200 hours in the game, and I'm constantly learning new things! Just for the sake of it, I wanted to mention that the wraith USED to be able to walk through walls when it was hunting. I know this from being dead while my partner was being hunted in the asylum. I watched it walk through walls, and actually get physically stuck on items it would run into while walking through the corners of walls, which saved my partners life because it couldn't reach him. I'm not sure if that's still the case after the latest update, but I saw it happen so I just wanted to throw that in the comments incase you wanted to see if it still does that! I'm sure it's rare. Thanks for the video!
I am so insanely glad he figured out the ghost at the end. The entire video I was dreading he was not going to bother. Now I have to re-watch it safe in the knowledge that he does.
Hi Insym. Your demon explanation really help me during the investigation... Demon can hunt at any sanity and it's terrifying. I got hunt at 91 sanity with 0 grace period and no hiding spot, without your vid I probably died right there xD
Your idea about Yurei is cool. Although in my opinion even more solid approach will be to change it to: - every single ghost is forced to leave its room after using smudge stick ( making sensor more useful ) - with the exception to Yurei, which will NEVER leave the room when smudge stick is used
I thought the same while watching this. I'm sure it's also not done yet because better ideas down the pipe, which leads to suffering during the wait, but either change would make it more distinct. Another "fun thing" they could do is just make the Yurei have a reverse effect to smudge, where it targets the smudge where other ghosts are repulsed, so you can draw the ghost to the smudge or if it hunts it'll not stop for the smudge but will linger once it goes to the smudge location. That would give it obvious enough reaction based on using smudge, and, give it a contrary dynamic similar to dio.
The way I read the Yurei weakness, it sounded like if you smudge the ghost room during a hunt, even if the ghost is not in it right that moment, it ends the hunt as though the ghost was right there.
For the Wraith being afraid of salt: It could be coincidence, but I feel like on modes where the ghost room can change, when you put salt in the ghost room the Wraith has changed ghost rooms very quickly/more frequently.
Oh my god this video seems so useful!!! I havent managed to watch through it but i watched your last version of it and it helped me a lot! Looking forward to this Amazing work and greetings from Tanzania
Amazing video as always! Didn't expect to learn anything new, but I actually had no idea about the Yokai Music Box interaction or the Onryo player death ability. Also, it's nice to finally understand how The Twins work after so much confusion
I appreciate the time in effort that goes into these kinds of videos. Taking hundreds of hours of knowledge and compacting them down for others to quickly learn from.
You brought me into this game and your streams and videos definitely taught me a lot, and now if i forget anything i have a video to go to, thanks insym!
I knew you probably made a video like this that I finally got around to watching but you have so many videos it was hard to find because I was like what do I even channel search ghost guide? lol but found it im here thanks for all the effort you put into this video.
To me the Spirit Box is, without a doubt, one of the hardest evidences to gather. I usually play with friends and in more than 50 hours of game we only managed to get a ghost to respond on the Spirit Box no more than 3 times. I set the game in Spanish, and I speak in spanish, and I set the voice recognition in spanish too. Not sure if I should just try it on english or something.
My friend is a woman who speaks English, but she has a rather high voice. She can't get the damn thing to work either. I speak English in a low voice, and it works pretty often. Try pitching down your voice.
@@allanturmaine5496 You can also use the text-to-speech option if you don't wanna talk for whatever reason. Less immersive, but it's a valid option for when you want to be quite(or if your mic is busted)
I asked you to do a ghost guide 2-3 months ago when I bought this game , and you said you'll do it in 2023 (after some updates) . But in those months I never missed any of your stream in Twitch and so now , I know everything about every ghost , and I personally don't even need this guide anymore now 😂 Infact , when you were recoding this in stream I was there in the Twitch live chat and was answering people's question that they asked in chat there . You can see thisbeliever728 named guy answering a lot of questions , that's a me. KEKW Love your content(s) , KEEP IT UP Insym 👌👌😁
i'm so glad i got to watch this today! totally wasn't expecting it to drop so this was just a pleasant surprise i'm also looking forward to when Insym gets this level of knowledge for this is a ghost cause i got both phasmo and this is a ghost because of him haha edit: i LOVE the design of some of the ghost's evidences playing into their strengths, eg a Mare's evidence has two items that need darkness (spirit box + orbies) whereas a Shade's evidence requires activity (writing book, etc) and the Raiju needs evidence from electrical equipment (orbies, etc). it's a very nice design
23:02 I feel like this being a weakness is assuming that the Poltergeist could hurt people by throwing objects at them, which obviously isn’t a thing in this game, but would be cool
Thanks, Insym! I learned a few new things from this despite having over 250 hours in the game and watching a good chunk of your videos. My favorite ghosts are the ones that counter strategies. Onryo fighting candles, Raiju countering just throwing equipment in the room, etc. Il Mimo is an easy pick just because it copies everything else and makes you second guess everything, but I really love the ones that counter metas because that gives the game life. There's no "right way" to do a match. You have to adapt. You might have a general idea of what to do (like use thermo to find the room, or focus on the dangerous early hunters) but I feel like a wrench is thrown in my plans more often than not, and it's not like some (most?) other ghost hunting games where you're just tossing items into a room or constantly walking around with powered items.
after playing this game for so long, i still have problems identifying some ghosts or even the newer ones. so this was extremely helpful for my level grind 🤤🤤🤤
Thank you So much for this video and for many others educational videos of yours i've learned so much and you helped A LOT i feel far more confident when playing phasmo
Thank you for this guide, it will certainly come in handy We have been so sure what ghost we were dealing with based just on the evidence - only for it to be an entirely different one, for whatever reasons... this got a bit frustrating after a while, because we were so sure we had all the evidence down (at least 2 out of three usually)
Would be cool if they added a bunch of new ghosts but they all said ??? until you got a perfect run so you have to figure out their special abilities for yourself
What's you guys' favourite ghost in the game ? Mine is the Mare, I'd still like it to be faster if it starts the hunt in the dark which would make it a more dangerous ghost to deal with
im relatively new to the game, i started about 4 months ago but never played much because i barely understood the ghost behaviors. this video (and all your other phas content) is very helpful and much appreciated
Honestly for the hantu, to fix its "Freezing breath" hidden ability, it should have a rare chance to make a puff of breath in a freezing temp room where its standing. It'd be pretty spooky to see a faint puff of breath in somewhere like grafton or the prison. It'd have to be rare though otherwise it tells a lot of information. if not rare then maybe under special circumstances such as when blowing out a candle with aforementioned prerequisite of being in the ghost room.
Hi Insym, is there a comprehensive list, like the one you were refereing to in the video, of all ghost and what they do? Some friends and I recently started playing and we find it difficult to sometimes find out who we are after. Huge love to your content, absolutely love it!!
Great video! My friends and I reference this all the time as there is so much useful information beyond just what the book has to say. Thanks for making this Insym!!
unless they’ve changed more things, greatly needed guide. been watching you since 2020 all the way through 2021 and only know old phas not new so i hopped in and had no idea what anything was even after having 200+ levels in og phas so love you insym, thank you for your amazing content!
SO for the yurei weakness, Idk if this was a thing at the time, but you could wait for the ghost to leave the room and smudge it with an emf reader in the middle of the room, if you immediately get an emf 2 reading, you got a yurei, I actually have only been playing a few days but already got to use this trick to catch one
With phantom, if you take a picture of it during a ghost event, the way you can tell if you made it disappear or if it disappeared by itself and ended the ghost event, is that for phantom, after you take a photo, the ghost disappears, but the event still continues (if its red lights, flickering lights, singing event etc.). Meaning you made the ghost "invisible" by taking a photo, cause it's still right there doing the event. Hope this helps the new players who are still afraid of hunts and just hides instead of looping to look at the blinks.
I love this video! I play this game with a friend of mine who referred me to your channel and now it feels like we are speed running through our XP levles.
Just started playing after my cousin recommended and watching your videos just makes me more stoked and eager to keep playing 😎🤝🏾 gg man keep up the amazing content and definitely gained a new follower after watching a single video 😭
1:52:41 There are some other cases of clever evidences besides the Raiju having only evidences that make it stronger The Hantu obviously becomes stronger with freezing temps, the Shade having writing and EMF 5 highlights its strength since those depend on activity (while the freezing keeps it balanced by giving you its room if you stay in the room for long enough to see your breath), the Yokai having Spirit Box is obviously very clever since it is attracted to voices, but there's one that I'd really like to see changed The Mare. It likes the dark, so it has Spirit Box (in which you need to turn off the lights to obtain) and ghost orbs (which are almost only visible in the dark), but I really wish it also had D.O.T.S. instead of writing, since it can be more easily seen with the lights off. I wouldn't mind if the Mare and the Yokai had their evidences switched, because the Mare would benefit a lot from it.
14:25 I tested this again recently (like 2 weeks ago) and now Phantom is the only ghost that can drain extra sanity during a no-physical-contact manifestation. This little extra drain is very hard to notice in normal game when considering you'll lose like 1~3% in an ordinary length manifestation. Now we have the custom difficulty and you can check it yourself by setting the sanity drain speed to 0% and see the difference. One reminder is that you don't have to get an attack (hissing) sound played or really touch the ghost visually to become too close to the ghost and interupt an ghost event. And in that case you'll surely get an instant loss of 10% (or ocassionally 5%) of sanity. I don't really have the value but within a distance that can get a 3-star ghost photo should be close enough to confirm Phantom's ability.
I literally watched half of this video, and then identified a demon with my friends because we got hunted at 83%. The next day I watched the second half and found the twins at the prison because of the kinked line at 1/2 unit. Epic & useful video.
I think an amazing ghost would be a possessive type ghost. Like when it’s hunting it has a little chance to possess a player at random and the player gets to control the ghost for the duration of that hunt
I love this video. I don’t care what anyone else says. This one video has sparked my love for this game. Sure, it makes even a no-evidence run a cakewalk, but some games are just better when you understand them, especially when it comes to helping others. Insym is the ONLY reason I still play this game, for this video alone. Thank you.
Yo dawg, I just wanted to say, your videos / streams are so cool. You seem incredibly kind, and you're full of information. It's really wild watching you play Phasmo, because you have so much knowledge. This video is super helpful by the way.
Thank you very much Insym for this wonderful and complete guide! I appreciate your videos very much because they taught me to play and enjoy playing as much as you do =) I would like to add from my own humble experience that the Wraith when it teleports can give you an EMF2 or/and an EMF5, since the EMF5 has a 25% chance when we deal with these types of ghosts that have an EMF5 as evidence. There is a 1 in 4 chance (25%) that any EMF2 or EMF3 ghost interaction will be EMF5 (as ghosts that have an EMF5 evidence), including teleportation for the Wraith. EMF2 are usually interactions where the ghost touches objects, opens or closes doors, knocks on windows, touches paintings hanging on the wall and fall to the floor (counts as touching them, not throwing them), the radio, the television, the telephone, the breaker, the teddy bear, etc. And EMF3 is when ghost throws objects. EMF4 are just the ghost events. So we can say that EMF5 evidences are 25% for EMF2 and/or EMF3 when we are dealing with ghosts that have an EMF5 evidence. I don't know if it's true when the Jinn touches the breaker and uses its ability and give you EMF5, it's because Jinn have always a 100% EMF5 interaction on the breaker instead the normal 25% ? I didn't test it, so I ask here =) I have had many Wraiths in Sunny Meadows teleport into the chapel or entrance corridor and give both: normal EMF2 and/or EMF5 (25%). In the same way I have had random EMF2 with Phantoms and Banshees that roamed to our position/target position respectively, which is sometimes suspicious and confusing to compare with the Wraith. But Phantoms/Banshees obviously can't give you an EMF5 as evidence. So many times I played with friends in Sunny Meadows and we have had an EMF2 in the main entrance corridor or in the chapel from nowhere/no interaction; we suspected maybe it's a Wraith, Phantom or Banshee. So you already have in mind what evidences to treat with preference. If you have Ouija Board you can ask for Marco Polo or Knock Knock jokes or any question that drain only 5% sanity and maybe gives you a 25% EMF5 and you know you are dealing with Wraith and rule out Phantom and Banshee quickly. We often "force" that EMF5 on the Ouija Board (if it spawns) for rule out. But anything random can happen like we once did in Sunny Meadows: We had a Goryo come out of the Kitchen>Bakehouse (we knew it was his room because we asked Ouija Board) and go to the chapel to greet us by blowing out candles or maybe a christian Goryo who go to mass and give us an EMF5 by touch the door or throwing a bible, and we thought it was clearly a Wraith because the instant EMF5 and because the Goryo do not leave their room, but this one surprised us a lot, very broken roaming Goryo. If I'm not right, I would appreciate someone correcting/tips me, but I speak from my humble opinion and experience to also contribute to the Phasmophobia community and other players. Cheers !
Using this video to help me with the primitive challenge mode, can confirm Yurei did the double door tap but ALSO closed it completely, so I ran to the van and checked your video and even saw the ~15% confirmation
