Dear parents, The reason a lot of kids are playing this song is to help them cope with the things *YOU* tell us. You compare us to other kids, you pressure us to do things like, “get good grades!” Or “do better!”. And when you compare us to to other kids, we feel like we’re not good enough, we feel like we’re not worth your time or anyone else’s. Your sometimes the things that make us insecure about our bodies, our friends, our *LIVES*. When you do these things to us, we feel like we don’t belong. When you say “What are you wearing?”, “What is this your listening to?”, and then you take our phones, tablets, and most devices away from us, and when you take our devices you take away something that makes us happy, you tell us you want us to be *happy*, you want the *best* for us. If you want us to be happy why do you take the things that make us happy? I'm fine." On the inside you are hurting, you are bleeding out, you are staring straight ahead with empty eyes but big smile. But when you listen to music it allows you to let it all out. But your parents are there... blocking your way, changing you, making you be better, comparing you, saying you look like you are from a junkyard, and taking away the things that calm you down. Parents say "If you are feeling like you are about to scream, just leave the room and I will know whats happening" You go to your room, your mom comes in, stealing what makes you happy, and refuses to leave when you just need to be alone. You want to be alone because you've seen your parents, friends, and people look happier when you are not around... You want to be alone so bad that when you are up at 3 AM, you are staring out your window, imagining what it would be like to just run... But you know the drill everyone! Smile! Look Up!
