Quite the title you have there Jeff. I’m a Chevy/GMC guy and I have 2 questions for you. 1- why do you make ½ ton trucks so dam high? I’m 6’ tall and can barley reach over and touch the floor of the bed. 2- Why the square wheel wells? The wheels are round (I checked). Early in life we learn to put the round peg in the round hole. I could never own a foreign truck but take a close look at the Tundra. Best looking truck on the road. Take a close look at the wheel wells. See how that works? I guess if my 99 silverado ever dies I’ll need a step ladder and some square wheels

Mine never did that. I ran AMSOIL and changed the oil every 20k after its break in on my 2007 Yukon XL Denali. It started burning a little bit after 100k, but only about a quart every 10k miles which wasn't bad. Always had a little valve train noise since it was new though. But I can tell you that my father's new CTS V burns WAY more oil than my Denali did. He goes through a quart every 2k on that thing and it only has 10,000 miles!

I just checked the website of a GMC dealer where I live....New Brunswick Canada. Here are the listed prices off the website for a Sierra 2500. 2500 SLT Crew Cab 6.0V8....$67,205. Sierra 2500 Regular Cab WT 6.0V8....$45,525. Sierra 2500 Denali 6.6 Duramax...$84,400! Holy crap, the prices of these trucks nowadays, and not just GM products but also the other manufacturers! Even just a regular cab, gas engine 6.0 V8, WT model will cost you nearly $50,000 by the time taxes are on it.

Displacement doesn't matter man. A properly built motor can have as much horsepower as the internals can take. That same 6.2L powers the Corvettes and CTS-V.s putting out over 630hp on the Corvette. My old 350 in my 72 Chevy (5.7L) was cranking around 500 ponies easy. Just a cheaper decision on GM's part to keep the same motor and use it for different platforms.

I believe you showed the wrong instrument cluster the first time. It shows six fixed, analog dials but then later the top four are digital. Also I'm looking forward to the EcoDiesel review!

Ummm yeah. You can have a 454 big block and you can also have a 455 small block. It has to do with the design on the cylinders and their spacing within the block itself. Has very little to do with actual displacement

2015 titan is getting a V8 Cummins, and the new Ram 1500 is getting a V6 183 cu diesel.

The rear vents come through holes in the back of the front seats, looks kind of stupid to be honest. They are in all Silverados and Sierras, I believe.

Can’t get a quad cab Denali 1500 spec’d out to tow more than the mid 9k range. I’ve looked a few times. No options for the maximum trailering package that you can get on the LTZ trim level.

The ram 1500 with its 3.0 diesel will sell more trucks in a week then the titan will sell in a month.

Too bad the idiots at GMC dropped Quadrasteer. It was one of the smartest innovations by GMC, ever. The turning diameter on my 2003 Sierra Denali is a full 10 feet less than any other pickup in it's class. Had the marketing idiots shown how maneuverable trucks could be in tight spaces like parking garages or parallel parking, and how the Quadrasteer virtually eliminated body roll in turns, more customers may have bought into it. The had a full size PU truck that literally handles like a sports car. Instead, the marketing geniuses ran countless commercials of someone doing figure eights in reverse with a boat trailer while the livestock watched in awe.... yeah.... I bet countless customers were about as awestruck as the cattle in the commercial. I guess I'll have to hang onto my '03 Sierra Denali Quadrasteer AWD. Maybe someday someone at GMC will realize their marketing blunder and bring back QS.

That is totally untrue, BMW has twin turbocharged V6 that not only puts out "big block" power with half the weight. Power to weight rato is what rules.

Are the lifters going to seamlessly tap on this AFM motor too?! Or is this motor going to "seamlessly" consume a quart of oil ever 1,000 miles only to have GM tell us it's "acceptable" valvetrain noise and "acceptable" oil consumption?!

I'm sure ford will beat those number's come their 2014 model. And Chrysler just play's with itself and makes no real effort to out-do the other two. However I do think ram's look the best at least and their new 8-speed's make up for a lot

Nice new late model GMC, so 1990's. This is 2013, we need a six cylinder diesel option, higher power, torque and better mileage. We need an all digital dashboard, not just a small piece of it. We need an electric lock for the tailgate that works along with the central locking system. We need express up and down on ALL windows. Keep up the ancient GMC mentality and you'll remain behind Ford and Dodge Ram. What a waste of bailout money!!

I will say one good thing about this guy and that is that he is talking about real world driving rather than the gimmicks to get the truck to read the best fuel mileage for the books. You end up with the wrong set up. The truck should be geared and computerized to adjust to your style to save you fuel dependant on your driving style and what your hauling. Looking at the best number on paper and buying a truck based on that is stupidity. However, if you brought back Quadra steer I could care less about fuel mileage, stick whatever you want under the hood and I will still buy it. You had a true luxury item for a truck in 2002 to 2004 that is still talked about, Quadra steer even had their own forum, nothing has come close since then to matching this option. An appearance/convenience package costs more than this option and it was actually a true luxury to have. Convenience to park, to back up and to follow and direct a trailer like you were pushing it with the front of the truck so you never lose your trailer when backing it up. Stability control is no match for 4-wheel steering, stability control breaks the front wheels to straighten the vehicle out in a skid, 4-wheel steer does it without having to break, 4-wheel steer has ultimate control at highway speeds on a slippery road or not. Best thing is when I park I pull right in with 4-wheel into my spot, 9/10 times other truck owners always have to back up and straighten out, then for them, backing out is even a bigger headache.

They also ruined the Denali line back in 2007 when they got super cheap and took away the unique front clip. Now you can get a Denali with a 5.3L Explain to me what the point of spending all that money on a Denali when you can piece meal a SLT to be the same?

Im sorry but towing 12k with a half ton is asking for trouble, they're too light, no engine break. GM is bloating those tow numbers just for marketing puposes. Anything over 9-10k top is dangerous and stupid.

I love GM trucks, they are so robust, long-lasting and well-built, but please GM get it together with your headlights, stop cheaping out on these 50k 60k or even 70k trucks with those horribly out-dated halogen burners....borrow some HID projectors from the Cadillacs that are amazing performers! Specially for the off-road trucks! they desperately need more powerful, farther reaching and wider beam headlights!

hey ford and ram has a 5.4 triton and a 5.7 hemi. chevy had to go clear up to 6.2L to get 420 horses when in 2005 i think dodge had a 500 horse 5.7 in the rumble bee. i dont see why ram hasnt programed the computer to push out 450 horses yet. Im really eager to see what dodge and fords reaction to this is.

This is a nice truck, but has it's flaws. I got to drive a 2015 Sierra Denali 6.2L crew cab 4wd for a day, and versus the outgoing truck, this is a highly refined truck. However, if you are a big guy with broad shoulders, the interior of this truck is several inches narrower than a 2013 model extended cab. There is a GIANT door pillar that is about 6 inches wide that bites into your shoulder if you have the front seats back any more than about 2/3 of the way. It is a phenomenally DUMB design. If the door pillars were necessary, why didn't they move them back about 3 inches? Problem solved. Or they could narrow up the MASSIVE center console, which is a giant waste of interior space. For all GM did right in this truck, they really screwed up with the location and size of the door pillar.

GM really botched their 2014 trucks. All they have on lots are those stupid 5' beds. Who really wants a 5' bed? Go buy a Ridgeline if you do. 2nd of all you can't mix the All Terrain and the Max Trailer package... Why? Because no one EVER tow OR goes offroading with the same truck... I hope the 2015 lets you combine more options!

I have a denali 6.2l and I have owned an f-150 eco boost. I can tell you, gm did not engineer the 6.2 to be a rival with the eco boost in ford. Yes the towing torque and hp is comparable, but the fuel economy is no where near what this guy is suggesting. The fuel economy on the ford eco boost is aprx. 22-24 mph highways and the 6.2 is probably about 13-15 mpg highways. I’ve owned them both... Just saying.

You don't sound very confident about your product, and you use too many non English words such as "umm" "uuhh" as if you cannot or don't even agree with the product you are putting out. Jeff luke should stick to "engineering" not promotions. This alone would not want me to buy this vehicle.

Jeff Luke: Why does GM follow the rest of the crowd ? Gm was the last to make a 4 door 1/2 ton pickup, gm does not make a floor shifter in there trucks as does Ford and Dodge. And your trucks are over priced as hell. Don't get me wrong, I have driven Chevrolet all my life, But GM designers SUCK. I could do better with my eyes closed. The one thing gm did that was ground breaking in the last 15 years was the 4 wheel disc brakes, then you had a problem and the rear brakes started to wear faster than the fronts, GM solution, back to the drums. For and Dodge picked up on it and never let up. I Know damn well you could have figured out how to fix it, I did. Also you know longer make a Sportside. I will never buy another GM just for that reason. And last what asshole engineer decided that GM 1/2 ton trucks need 6 lug wheels, what did that cost to retool ?
