There is no secret that I love my stoves from Firebox, and when Steve told me about this stove a few months ago, and sent me some pictures of the prototypes...needless to say I was excited! Well, the excitement grew when I got a little package in the mail. This is NOT a full detailed review, far from it. Many saw my instagram posts and wanted a simple video showing what it is etc. So, with the little time I had I put together this quick first look. More to come SOON!

One tip I should have mentioned before I sent it to you is that with the titanium version because it has been media blasted the leg pins can be a little sticky because the fine grains from the blasting make their way into the hinge curls. If you pull those out wipe them down and put a little oil on them for the first few Burns it seems to keep everything functioning smoothly 👍😎

3 things Ernie 1. I love when fails are kept in the vids - when they teach - obviously this fits this vid 2. After watching Steve's video on RU-vid I knew that I WANTED one even though I have two Nanos and the G5 Titanium and the Scout and use them constantly and love them. Can't wait for the kickstarter 3. Thanks for the quick view - on his RU-vid video he teased with a lot of the setups but obviously never really let you see the complete how. When I commented some questions on it he just said a lot of further views were yet to come and that they were still testing lots of stuff. I am really stoked also that this will 'fit' the Toak's siphon in the 3 panel as I love that little alchy stove and use it more than the Trangia when I am cooking. The other stoves work obviously with the Toak's but it is so little it seems to get lost inside them IF you don't take time to adjust the setup more.

I have developed a system which makes transforming the stove into the different configurations a snap! Seriously, it's so easy you'll feel like a Bushcraft wizard 👍 I'm going to put together a quick little video that I hope to have up in the next couple of days.

Excited to see the rectangular and hexagonal configurations! Looks like it would be great for cooking multiple things over the fire at the same time and then using it as a mini fire pit!

Putting two together would probably give you enough coal bed and grate surface to cook a steak. Nice stove

Get yourself the second. Add in the Scout then line up all four for a visual and then with the extended kit in the new one. Man that's a great idea in a Modular system in a twig stove.

Great video. It’s refreshing to see this stove’s modularity. In your next video, could you break down the set-up in the different configurations? I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s going to fumble with it. Having a demonstration going from the 5” version to all the others would be great! Does it close accordion style, or do you have to break it down prior to storage? I love firebox stoves and own nearly one of everything in the store… but something I’m curious to see is if there is a “bag” or something to keep it all together. And this is probably a question for Steve, but I thought I’d ask anyway. I have the leather pouch for the 5” stove and I keep everything for that stove in that pouch… is that option in the works? I’ll be nice…shhh just take my money😍.

Thanks for the video!! Its so versatile stove and w/ 2 stoves and those grates you can do so many things and if you lite the fire underneat them you can use the stove as a different size barbeque and grill on them...i hope i'm not wrong

Firebox does everything great. It looks like the stove has enough slots to put the fire sticks in a position to hold a Trangia when the four panels are connected.

Im really looking forward to adding to my collection. I don't go out hiking, etc., so I will be getting the stainless steel version. So far, I have every stove Steve had designed and sold, so I will be getting this one, too... maybe a little bit at a time, depending on pricing.

Once again I'll end up buying 5 of these to go with my 5 nanos and 4 full size think I'm gonna run a camping camping cook school at this point Steve at firebox is by far the most innovative and creative individual for me in my generation I give the nano to all of my family members and friends as an emergency stove

I love the versatility but of this stove. I’d love to get my hands on one. I like what Starling Black said. It does look like it can serve many needs. It would be cool if there were different carrying bags or sacks for the different configurations. Like a small carrying bag for the backpacking configuration. Might be a nice touch.

Point of information -- Since we're in a Global Pandemic and a lot of people are carrying those little bottles of Hand Sanitizer which is Alcohol based , it would stand to reason that it would make a handy fire starter - and it does . I've used Hand Sanitizer several times for starting fires in my little wood-burning stoves , and it works great . --- < Doc > .

I think HORIZONTAL BAKING on the Freestyle could easily be done by TURNING the stove UPSIDE DOWN, since you can just put the fire grate anywhere you want, so you just put it in the 'upside down: bottom' (regular: top) (you put the firesticks where the Firebox logo is and put the fire grate in from the bottom), and then the legs resemble a 'nano-like stove top' with which you can do horizontal baking.

Thanks for another good review. Are you doing a long term followup review of the freestyle everything kit and how it stacks up to your other favourite stoves like the 5" titanium, durability, convenience, performance etc.. Can it handle high heat 🔥 or will the thin grates and ss burn out? Thanks

Is there anything stopping us from making this into a giant overkill mod(two stoves vertical)? This would make a great rocket stove style stove. I could see stacking two of the stoves set up in triangle formation. Or having the bottom setup as a 4 sided stove with one side missing and the top full 4 sided, and come up with a way with the fire sticks to make the remaining side go at an angle to auto feed wood. Can't wait to mess with various different layouts!

Rocket stove relies upon the chimneys effect drawing the heat up. As good an inovation as it is, its not that type of inovation, heat will just leak out of the sides as they are peppered with holes.

I wish they would just made each Nano with the kit that allows you to stack 2 vertically. Preferably then you can keep the bottom legs out, rotate the top legs in or out independently. Oh, you could then experiment with attaching two Nanos horizontally. :) That larger configuration of this stove seems good for that ambience camp fire. A Swedish torch will the folding bottom tray will get you about 45 minutes burn in a Nano, the option of having a more traditional larger camp fire for light, warmth would be nice.

Well it's officially titanium. Does titanium take on a different color then stainless after many uses? My stainless has taken on a nice patina color, but it might be to the very light olive oil rub down after cleaning, use. I live in a huge high humidity area, just 2 blocks off saltwater river, so rust, corrosion is guaranteed, best to oil things.

Well the video said it was less than half the weight of the titanium G2 so I’m guessing it’s thinner. Only just Over 7oz

Seeing the video- is it asymmetrical? It looked a little off of 90 degrees and minutely trapezoidal before and during the burn.

That is to accommodate its folding mechanism since two sides get folded into the outer two panels 👍

No, they are offset but there are three feed ports on a four-sided stove so you have lots of options 👍

The Nano is a 3-in stove, this Freestyle is a 4-in stove and the original fire box is a 5-in stove

A very good review but this looks too complicated for my needs, I have the 5” firebox and love it and use it all the time, just open it up, drop the bottom down, fill it with wood and light it and in less than 2 minutes I am cooking, no disrespect just my honest opinion for me. Take care, stay safe.
