I think this year, the game is going to be crazy with asymmetric formations and weird shapes. The positional play opened up the game so much, it's by far the best FM I've played so far, and I've been in this game since Championship Manager 2 !
Last year I had a 1998 database save for most of the year with benfica where I bought Lúcio and made him a libero on support, he's by far the best player I ever used on fm and it was my favorite role to use him in so experimenting with this year's fm and seeing how amazing liberos are makes me automatically love this game. I've been experimenting with brighton because of how well their defenders can dribble and it's just so amazing to see the things u can do on fm now. Daljit if you're reading this please keep posting this type of educative video I've never thought of using half backs as a supportive midfielder and never dreamed of seeing a half back rushing into the box like he's a segundo volante on attack, keep experimenting and keep sharing those experiments with us please.
Thanks for the awesome explanation, a what if series like in fm22 adapting to new scenarios with the new game would be awesome! Loved the bayern leverkusen one!
I used the HB constantly in FM23 and will continue in FM24 especially now with the improved match play ... it is the best role in a four at the back using wing backs ... IMO
I might have some OCD. I keep formations symmetrical even when I know I could use a role that requires me to break up the shape. I love the halfback, because I can't stand my defenders not carrying the ball and he allows them to do it freely.
This is really exciting, I was worried we would not be able to replicate Emerys' system but maybe with these halfback changes it's possible. I would love to see a guide on Emerys' Villa tactical system up, it's one of the more interesting and difficult ones to replicate.
It worked on my leeds save i used a Ampadu as Half back in a 4231 then a volante on attack with an iwb on support on the side with the volante. The AI hated it.thry just couldn't figure out where to go. I finished with 122 points in the championship and won the fa cup as a championship team. That was my first FM save since the old champ manager on Xbox.
I wonder is the players positioning stat and decisions make a difference when playing these rolls. From what have seen, all players seem to move into the positions perfectly and i rarely see them out of position. What are your thoughts on this please?
Sometimes it’s too perfect. I agree that the movement seems too good, you see that happening to at lower leagues. While the movement is good, players might not read the game right to receive and control the pass which seems to point towards attributes.
How about a back 3 with 2 bpd and a cb on cover? Do you think the Bpds will push up and make a box defence almost? Im gonna try it and see if it works like that and that should allow me to build from the back easier even with less technical players. I really like the half back too but ive only used it in a back four, worked brilliantly when i played a diamond at allowing the fullbacks to create width but that tactic stopped working for me as is the way on FM. I switched to an assymetric 33121 with a DM on defend and a CM on support. I may try the half back and see if it lets my wingbacks really push on. I could also look at dropping the CM back to play as a Volante on attack.
@@BusttheNet I tried it it and the half back kinda played more as a deep playmaker linking up play. Which actually seems to work well and when the BPDs dribble up he was just dropping in to cover. Maybe if I had a wide CB on support on the opposite side they would form more of a box or even a Libero.
What’s the difference between playing a left footed winger on the right side and playing an inverted winger on the right side? Saw a video where Salah was played as a winger on attack, he started out wide and once he got the ball he proceeded to cut in to his left foot. I understand that a winger will mostly cut in into their dominant foot from the wings. But if this is the case then what’s the difference when it comes to playing Salah as an inverted winger? If I had to guess it does the same thing? In both roles he’ll start out wide and proceed to cut in with the ball.
I might even try a Half Back in front of a back three with one of the back three as a Libero. I might defend as a back four, and in possession be a 2-2 formation.
