Brother had 85 900 i had 85 600 the 900 was smooth and perfect for 2 up riding

Agree with your comments- I had the original red/grey one plus a later Blue/silver model. Rock steady handling plus effortless performance. It was a massive move forward in bike design, especially for me after 3 previous GPZ 1100's.

Agree bikes have not liss weight in 2 decades. Not fastest but best track bike and big time popular street bike in 80s fz600 air cooled 2 valve four but light like 270lbs when my ninja water cooled 4 valve was justnover 410lbs. Rode friends not as fast but carved corners better and more fun to ride. Rz350 back then 2 stroke twin was a blast to ride 350lbs if that and 60 plus hp. 2 stroke power fast as 600 to 100 and if you luke wheelies this was your bike. Also carved corners like a surgeons scalpel thin light just fun bike.

@@rt2255 I had a FZ600 in 1986 first year available. Going from a cb750f wow what a difference in handling. Cb750f was a tank slapper. All the big ninja boys were crying about getting beat on curvy roads by a measly 600. It was the first bike available in the US that was light & had great handling. Wish I still had it. Traded it in for the 1988 FZR1000. Another great bike, faster than anything else at the time. K&N pods with a stage 3 jet set & Kerker exaust. Handled great. But simply not as nimble as the FZ600. Nothing can make up for light & nimble. I was fortunate to ride both in Mexico where you could go as fast as you wanted. The FZR redlined at 168. Nothing like watching the hills twenty miles away on the straight sections get close fast running 150-160+.

@@SinOjOs-Transport yeah old fz600 with newer 600 motor if you could get one as light, or pump 20 more horses in old one would still give new bikes fits in the twisties. The damn thing was on rails. Lived the look of that bike more than my 85 ninja and those are 2 of my favorite looking bikes from 80s. Had a few in 90s i.liked but fz600 with yamaha dash logo scheme was just beautiful.

Yea I'm sick of all the sharp angular look on every bike. Even the so called retro. Been riding 54 years. I miss the round look look. All the upper fairings are small. Little wind protection. I want the old big round which provided great wind protection. I'm not racing. Not worried about losing 5 mph in top speed. When I cannot actually ride that fast on the street. Without getting killed or jailed.
