Just as Yankee Stadium was the "House That Ruth Built", Pacific Bell Park was the "House That Bonds Built". Barry Bonds hit the first Splash Hit at the new Giants' stadium on Mat 1st, 2000, and would hit eight more before another Giant joined the list. Overall, Bonds hit 35 into McCovey Cove, over half the overall total until Denard Span hit numbers 70 and 71 in 2016.
The complete list:
1 - 5/1/2000, Rich Rodriguez (New York Mets)
2 - 5/10/2000, Andy Benes (St. Louis Cardinals)
3 - 5/10/2000, Heathcliff Slocumb (St. Louis Cardinals)
4 - 5/24/2000, Mike Thurman (Montreal Expos)
5 - 7/19/2000, Brian Meadows (San Diego Padres)
6 - 9/20/2000, Steve Parris (Cincinnati Reds)
7 - 4/17/2001, Terry Adams (Los Angeles Dodgers)
8 - 4/18/2001, Chan Ho Park (Los Angeles Dodgers)
9 - 5/24/2001, John Thomson (Colorado Rockies)
10 - 5/30/2001, Robert Ellis (Arizona Diamondbacks)
11 - 6/12/2001, Pat Rapp (Anaheim Angels)
12 - 8/4/2001, Nelson Figueroa (Philadelphia Phillies)
13 - 8/14/2001, Ricky Bones (Florida Marlins)
14 - 8/31/2001, John Thomson (Colorado Rockies)

Apparently every homerun Bonds hit as a Giant, was called by either Kruk or Kuip. Giants fan since I was nine and saw my first game at Candlestick Park (Padres) in 1963.

I would say Jon Miller did too, I just loved how monumental his calls sounded. "Barry hits his historic 500th home run! The 4th Giant to do it. He joins his Godfather Willie Mays! He joins Willie McCovey! And Mel Ott!" We're lucky as Giants fans.

Buckeye4life 440 you do realize that steroids don’t make u better at baseball right??? It just lets you recover faster after a workout which means that Barry bonds for one, put in the work to get stronger and two, he had an amazing swing and good hand eye coordination

There was an estimate made that 80-85% of all players were on the juice. It was an era of baseball that we all enjoyed, but now the self righteous critics deem him THE cheater. He controlled every at bat that wasn't an IBB. Simply, he was the greatest hitter of all time.

Jazz Cabbage17 the thing with bonds (steroids or not) is you were afraid to bitch to him. griffey didn’t really hit for average or score a ridiculous amount of runs. besides, when bonds hit a ball, whether it was 1991 or 2004, the swing was just amazingly smooth. griffey is right up there but there was too many years of injuries for him to be number 1

As a kid I was on the east coast and I was staying up for 10pm starts to watch Giants games because Barry Bonds was the most exciting hitter to watch. In 2004 Bonds had 232 walks.. that is unbelievable, the next closest walk totals in a season are 198 and 177, both also set by Bonds. In that season Barry Bonds only struck out 41 times! and batted .362 with 45 home runs and 101 rbis.. Imagine the stats he could have put up if he didn't walk 232 times! In 2019 the league leader in walks was Bregman with 119. Let that sink in.

Honestly you could be right.... Teams literally feared him and did unusual things to avoid him. But idk, wilt Chamberlain might be more dominant because the League literally did everything they could to make wilt not able to dominate, but he still did. All the rule changes, widening the key, charge fouls, goaltends, and he still played dominant. But Barry or Michael Jordan could be a close second. I would take bonds over MJ tho
