The worlds fairs were in every major city from 1880’s to 1920’s. They were 100 acre lots with dream like buildings showcasing new tech. And after the fair most all were then demolished. Kind of a waste of labor and resources, what a day to be alive. We can’t even build much of anything without it falling apart ten years later.

When Elmer and Brenda start dancing with the robots (in the first few frames of them dancing with the robots in the same screen) there’s a woman with a red dress. First one you see. For a long time after I watched this, and every time I watched it after when I was younger, I kept saying to my mom that the woman in the red dress was her. I remember so vividly thinking that the woman in the red dress HAD to be my mom because I always remember her wearing a red dress. It’s one of my earliest memories. Even now, I keep wanting to think it’s her. I love this little cartoon. My first introduction to old colour shorts.

Part of the issue portrayed in the future relates to a better more productive economy. A lot of things that technologists who want electric cars, unions, government bureaucracies, and socialists, get wrong are the unnecessary things imposed which raise costs significantly. For electric cars, the battery is still not economical. For unions, it is featherbedding and rules to stretch out the job. For governments, it is bribes for votes which consume the wealth of the nation and oppose productive work.
