Thank you ,that was a well presented head to head comparison . The only element missing was their oxalate profile and cons . Chia is high in oxalates for people with kidney issues . Flax has traces of cyanogenic glycosides and all three must be taken in moderation to avoid intestinal blockages from over consumption . Well done !
@shannoncat1984
@shannoncat1984 2 месяца назад
Your gut microbes break down oxalates in digestion process. Seeds were made to be eaten. All this fuss about oxalates ive eaten plants my whole life and never had a kidney stone. Oxalates is just propaganda used to create fear mongering .

I make granola with all three. I put less flax in then the others because being male I have to watch out for how flax changes estrogen levels. Chia makes it thicken up and hemp has a pretty good cereal like taste. Flax does make it taste better. I add other things like coconut flakes, salt, cinnamon, etc. Thanks a lot for this great video...

Little tip, as soon as you open ground flax seeds (not if they are whole), place them in the freezer to preserve the freshness. Learned from Dr. Ekberg today. Ideally ground them yourself, but if not, freezing is a good option.

I eat meat and take a vegan (no mercury) omega supplement so I'm not worried about the protein or omega compositions too much. I consume all 3 of these seeds throughout a given week and that's what I think lands us in the best nutritional place in the long run, because who knows what else is in these foods that we don't yet know to measure. In other words, I'm not picking a favorite, but I'm now better informed about each one's strengths when I'm planning meals. I like to soak the seeds overnight, with or without fermenting, because I think "relaxing" the seeds makes them more digestible/bio-available. As a visual learner who becomes stressed by too many details in audio format, I just fast forwarded to toward the end of each chart and paused the video while I read them. I really like the highlights you gave to each category and also the reinforcement of it all with the winners circles in each category, and the over all winners circle at the end. Most excellent teaching modes! 👏 thank you for your efforts.

Greatly appreciated. It is understood that activitating seeds (as well as nuts and beans) by soaking them in (pure) water (say for 24 hrs.) presents increased bioavailability. Also, going further, sprouting can offer advantages not seen in soaking. Is that true? To what degree? I'm aware that proteins decline as leaf formation develops. Have you considered a part 2 of this informative video to accommodate this? Thank you. Perhaps it might be worthwhile to include how best to keep the seeds and consume them. Obviously - perhaps with flax more than the other two - the seeds can go rancid quickly when exposed to oxygen, such as when turning them into powder by a small food processor or coffee mill. In such case, would keeping them in a vacuum-sealed container be the recommended storage method? Lastly - and I haven't researched this, yet - I understood that hemp does have a small amount of O9. This comes from - perhaps it's marketing material - Manitoba Harvest, who also said that hemp seeds have the most beneficial 3-6-9 ratio. I don't see them in stores anymore. If you could comment as well, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm now inclined to discount their statement. From Ottawa, Canada
@alvareo92
@alvareo92 Год назад
as far as I've briefly researched, all whole grains and seeds and nuts should be soaked at least overnight, so you can remove the antinutrients that they form to protect their contents -- they're supposed to make plants and trees, not so much consumed directly. So if you soak them in acidic water (with, for instante, tibicos (water kefir) or unfiltered ACV, so you can also add probiotics to the soak) you replicate conditions of fertile soil :)

Well, my approach is to eat all three… in fact I add a fourth seed: Pumpkin Seeds. I grind them fresh each morning in my grinder and then mix them with homemade Apple Sauce ( organic apples, lemon juice, some raisins and cinnamon - no sugar added bcoz the lemon juice brings out the sweetness in the apples and the handful of raisins brings sweetness as well). The REAL Breakfast of Champions! > Pumpkin, Flax, Hemp & Chia Seeds with Apples and Raisins. *For a real seasonal treat - try adding a few Nectarines to the Apples when making the Apple sauce.

I just found your channel and subscribed because of the in depth nutrient comparisons. I would like to see the comparison between white and purple califlour.

Wonderful information. Is any of the seeds have protein?

Very informative. I found the amino acids information most relevant to me. I like amino acids. I was disappointed about not getting the information on ALA (alpha lipoic acid). I know flax seeds have a lot. I don't know anything about hemp or chia seeds, in this regard.

I'm loving your videos! I eat hemp seeds on my salads every day. Now I know why I feel so good afterward. I just watched your hemp seed milk video, too, so I can't wait to make it! Goodbye almond milk! Thanks so much! I'll be sharing your videos!
