Did you know that Iran helped the USA reach Kabul and install its preferred guy as president of Afghanistan back in 2001? Yeah, all that actually happened. Join us today for a talk with Ali Alizadeh, a prolific Iran watcher, commentator and public intellectual who unmasks the false narratives about his home country, all while remaining critical toward the political processes at home.

Neat conversation and interview. What a treat to hear about Iran, it’s mature traditions and the delicate balancing act Iran demonstrated with the Americans Vs USSR to remain neutral It’s fascinating how the general press and news media in the US strives so hard to keep the American public ignorant about Iran or any other country in the Middle East Thanks for posting this talk Pascal - wish every high school student was able to view this talk to learn about the wider world outside the US.

I so much wished Switzerland wouldreally live up to the principles of neutrality and not have any sanctions against Iran, Russia, China, Syria, Venezuela and others. I'd love to see us entertain friendly relations with them and I'm convinced this would be enormously advantageous not only economically but also culturally. But alas our political leadership have decided to be subserviant to the US empire and our eltes are as corrupt as they are cowards, they tremble in fear of falling out of favour with their Washington masters and are always ready to sacrifice the interests of their own nation and their fellow countrymen if there is a chance to enrich themselves from the morcels that fall from the table of the allmighty overlord. But the saddest thing is the total brainwashing that has turned a majority of my countrymen into sleepwalkers that are unaware of the reality of events and forces around them. Our National Bank holds US debt to the tune of hundreds of billions, making us one of the main financiers of the destructive wars that brought death and destruction to millions of innocent civilians in the Middle East, South America and Africa. There will be a rude awakening in the not very distant future.

The short interlude of international peaceful co-existence is over. The intelligent psychos at the top now seek to shuffle the deck. Ordinary people have no idea of how things work. No real power and no will. There will be no awakening. No actual understanding ... only growing anger ... which helps the shuffle.

Mr. Pascal, thank you for inviting Ali. The key point of your understanding of the enmity between America and Iran is the part that after Iran helped America in Afghanistan, they called us the axis of evil! See how much progress in Iran poses an existential threat to imperialism and the domination system. It was clear that we should not set an example for other countries to get out of slavery to the American order. And now this can be seen in many and obvious forms like BRICS. And of course, it is not only Iran that is fighting against domination!

To understand Iran. You need to know history. Over 5000 years of history, called “ cradle of civilization “ with Empire that still the main core is intact. Iran is 1% of world land but has 7% of total natural world wealth from oil to minerals. With 85 million people with high education and high IQ compare to others . Iran probably is the most important country geopolitically .

That’s true, that’s why the west felt threatened by Iran. So the west had to destroy Iran politically and economically by black propaganda and demonisations. It’s the culture of the west especially USA and UK. These two are the big bullies sanction any country that’s they see as threat. They see Russia and China as threats and so they have to destroy these two countries as well.

@Pascal - Thanks for bringing an Iranian perspective. As a US citizen I am starved of alternative perspectives. Perhaps you might find a voice for diplomacy based in UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, KSA, Djibouti, Sudan, Libya, Morocco, Sahel nations, Algeria, etc. I’m sure you’ll get my point that alternative perspectives are rarely presented & most likely are being actively suppressed. International information, diplomacy & relations are incredibly difficult to parse w/o incredibly tedious deep dives into rabbit holes which are routinely denounced as disinformation. 2016 Russia-gate narratives demonized Trump & Putin as nefarious collaborators & inflamed russophobic rhetoric which exploded in Feb 24, 2022 as Russia launched an “unprovoked invasion” into Ukraine. I’m retired so I have the time to investigate political allegations & quite early on I found an article on The Postil website written by Jacques Baud whose credentials included agency & extensive experience in being active in monitoring Donbas 2014-2022 conflict. He’s also written several books about the history & issues in Ukraine/Russia escalation.

This interview is extremely important and useful, as it addresses essential aspects of the recent history and current political reality of Iran. It helps to deconstruct the image that the country of the aitollahs manifests itself as a totalitarian and bloodthirsty State, an irreducible enemy of the West ruled by lunatics and fanatics. Should Iran be invaded and destroyed? The answer is no. Like any country, Iran deserves to be studied, understood and integrated into global trade in goods. Iranian sovereignty and political autonomy is neither better nor worse than the sovereignty and political autonomy of the countries that make up the BRICS and are part of the UN.

I heard many Americans commented negatively about Iran from 2003 . Some comments of average Americans are “ Islamic revolution took place in Iran in 1979 so US put weapons sanctions on Iran But actually US supplied whole sale spare parts for US made weapons clandestinely to Iran through Iran contra affairs by then president Ronald Reagan from 1981-1988. Ok today US is not supplying any weapons to Iran and not trading with Iran . But why US is arming Saudi Arabia to teeth which do follow democracy, freedom ??? These are rational questions ???????

Very informative. However, one key factor was ignored, national control of the Iranian central bank. This is a huge factor that is often ignored by political analysts. To achieve seamless globalization the World Bank/BIS/Global Bankers need to control all of the central banks. In 2000, 8 countries had nationally controlled central banks, now there are only three countries that have control of their central banks, Iran, North Korea and Cuba. With control of it's central bank Iran can build independent prosperity just as Libya and Iraq did when they controlled their central banks. This central bank control issue is a critical component of understanding why Iran is surrounded by the US military and pressured by the US with sanctions while being refused entry into the WTO. As some geopolitical analysts have proposed, all wars are bankers wars. While that may be an exaggeration, it rings true in many cases.

On the next occasion, please ask your interlocutor what rational core - or if there is any - is behind the oppressive pressure of "tradition" against the Iranian population that resists that tradition. Wouldn't it be more opportune for Iran, in the face of cross-border threats, to agree to concessions regarding, for example, the rule on women wearing headscarves, and thus at least to some extent reduce internal conflicts?
