The most amazing thing was that he really had to make near to zero adjustments in order to play in the NBA. This was his game. And it worked.

Arguably the most athletic NBA player of all-time. He wasn't blessed with the size of Jordan, given his size against bigger competition.. it's crazy how impactful AI was.

Yea, But AI lost his Amazing leaping ability at an extremely young age because he refused to condition his body. Had he done that IMO he would've been 10X better... But around 24 or 25 his a HOPS were pretty much gone.

@@dopemoney23: He's 6 feet tall 160 pounds. Kobe is 6-7 inches taller at 220 pounds. Even if AI has stronger work ethic, I think he's probably maxed out. Now if he was a little bit taller, he'd be scary.

I remember AI sharing a story about having dinner with Kobe once in LA. When they parted ways AI said he was going to the club, & Kobe said he was hitting the gym. He could’ve took “practice” (lol) a little more serious. But still he’s the best player 6 feet or under in nba history imo

Iverson didn't touch a basketball the entire off-season and he had no pregame warm up routine. He was naturally great moreso than anyone besides Shaq.

You couldn’t guard him without fouling. Unlimited stamina and athletic ability . I think Iverson, Jordan, and Rodman had the most stamina of all nba players

He had to play like that! He was wearing the shoes of a man he looked up to greatly. Allen Iverson is the GREATEST point guard EVER! And I say that with no hesitation. And there have been great point guards to go through the ncaa, and nba. My honorable mentions are Kevin Johnson, and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.

As great as he was for the Sixers, I feel like prime Iverson was the college years and first couple of years pro in terms of explosive plays, unparalleled athletic ability, and non-stop motor/energy/hustle.

I feel like Iverson should have stayed at PG. Yes he was a natural scorer and amazing at it. I just feel like he was at a disadvantage guarding guys that are 6'5, 6'6 or 6'7 when he's only 6 ft. He lead the league in steals 3 times. If he was guarding guys his size that would have doubled. Then on the offensive end. It's kind of hard to get a clean look at the basked when guys that are once again 6'5, 6'6 and 6'7 have their long hands over you. Which is why his FG percentage was so low.

Dude, Allen Iverson usually guarded the other team's PG, Eric Snow/Aaron McKey etc would guard the opposing SG.

@J 2 I don't know where you guys are getting your information but A.I many and most times has guarded the other teams SG. He guarded Kobe in the finals. There's a video on RU-vid with him and Sprewell going back and forth guarding each other when the Sixers played the Knicks.

Lopez I agree with you I wanted him to stay a guard also but AI was so fearless he ran jerry stackhouse out of Philly and then assumed the sg role but even being undersized he still did his thing against taller competition!

I lived on the same dorm and floor at UMass with Marcus Camby. We use to talk a lot and I remember him telling us there is this player that gets into everyone’s head in basketball. It was none other than AI.

Georgetown University will forever use Iverson as a recruiting tool. Once out of their system, he would have to pay for alumni services, if he stayed or went back to graduate. Everyone got what they wanted.
