Highlights of this weekends cricket match which saw Newton visit the Speedwell Cricket Ground.
This is the first broadcast of our 2nd XI since 2017 and it's great to have the guys back on RU-vid! Tommo is the new Captain for 2023 and we can guarantee excitement in this telecast! Classic Tinsle!
Newton finished the 2022 season as Division Three League Champions finishing a point clear of second place team Woodley. Newton are a very good team and today will be a big test for newly promoted Tintwistle.

Early season green topper. Put in and rolled over. Not a lot for either side for batting points from this one.

Great game to watch, even if you were on the wrong side of the result - I’m sure we’ve all been on both sides of similar results at some points though

Plus I’ve had to get my cricket fix this season from watching your videos, over friendlies & leagues games we’ve had 5 in a row rained off so far, still to get on the field yet!

Love a nice tight low scoring game. Good effort in the field. Looking forward to watching you guys through the season. I live in the south now but still a Derbyshire fan. Lived in Chesterfield as a kid, watching them under Kim Barnett with Bishop, Base and Stan Mortensen forming a legendary attack. Got to see Azhar score a double hundred in Hants years ago too :)

Thanks for the kind words. On a side note, many years ago one of our players turned pro with Derbyshire in 1993 - AJ Harris. AJ came through the junior ranks at Tintwistle. He may have played under Kim Barnett during him time at Derbyshire. We were super proud of him and he went on to have a successful pro career before returning home to Tintwistle after his pro career came to an end.

@@TintwistleCricketClub Shortly after I moved away to see him play myself but I remember the name. Was a decent bowler. Mo looked really good for you. Very accurate from looks of it and deceptively quick. Was a bowler myself, still play sundays but as a bat as old and weary. Broke my shoulder twice:(

Another low scoring game, but interesting to the last ball. Almost made it too. Like the way you pronounce all your players by their first names. Also, pleased that cricket was at least played. All over the country most games were abandoned
