This episode of The Fab Forums will be a little different. I decided to leave out the music as I go over some of the remaining things needed before I start putting some floor pans in this build.

Welcome to The Fab Forums. My name is Kyle Voss and I produce Custom Motorsports Fabrication content of all forms for you. Carbon Fiber, TIG Welding, Metal Shaping, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Custom Choppers, and everything in between. I work hard to bring you new content on a weekly basis.
Here are some of the builds you can find on this channel.
I have built several Chevy trucks on this channel. The first was my 1964 C10 named Crown Spoyal and the most recent C10 truck project was the 1969 I currently have named the Black Pearl.
I am also finishing up a custom twin turbo Ford Mustang build I call the Gray Goose. It’s a 400 cubic inch Windsor style engine with twin 70mm turbos. I am hoping to make around the 1000 horse power mark to the tires on this particular build.
Last but not least is the one off custom hot rod build called the Bibbster. This is what I call a modern day hot rod. It’s made from an old Ford Mustang foxbody, but made to look like an old school open wheeled hot rod.
I also feature other fabricators and shops like Cutworm Specialties hand formed aluminum wide body kit for a BMW e46. Jeb Greenstone has also built a twin turbo, coyote powered model A style hot rod from scratch, and is currently building a Toyota TE72 wagon drift car powered by a 1UZ Lexus v8. Jeb’s custom fabrication skills are fun to watch and always make for good videos.
Check out my playlist to see some or all of these builds.

Kyle, you might look at the Factory Five Hot Rod 33 chassis for inspiration on the floor bars. It's already close to what you are doing, but was designed using FEA for strength. Basically more triangles. You should do a Friday Fool vid of your sweet lil fab'ed bandsaw/stand.

those new floor bars should double as your seat mount locations. id base them off your planned seat brackets since they really dont have a specific location , just a job. id maybe run another at foot to help with a basis to build the pedal box off of .

run that diag bar on the tunnel anyway, to keep the driveshaft from coming through your panel (and your hip) if that ujoint snaps... 2 bars = cheap insurance and the floor bars, run a node at the vertical tunnel bar, that way you dont have a shear point between the two weld joints. damn i miss doing tube work. :(

I have a good idea for the gas tank the spot you said your going to put the filler cap inside that whole cavity put a long rectangle aluminum tank inside of it . Fill up that empty space if you use the whole cavity should get a decent sized tank and run the filling cap to the top where you said you wanna put it. Cut the top off just a little bit around the tank and use self ejecting fasteners around it so if you ever need to pull the tank out it's not a hassle

Have you considered to using part of the front fenders to clean up the front end in front of the doors? If you merged the back parts of the fenders with the firewall that you are fabricating and it would give it a nice clean look in the front.

Posting and asking prior to watching the complete video. At 3:20 the amount of yoke engagement into the transmission looks odd. Shouldn't it be a little deeper? Maybe it's the angle of the video capture, or suspension isn't fully compressed? Are you using e85 due to static compression or the turbo's? Always looked forward to the updates and other content, Thanks from an old Jarhead

I have a question for you Kyle been watching you’re vids for quite a while and supported you by purchasing you hats and shirts. My question is where did you learn all how to do this stuff like drilling holes in the roll cage to vent out so on so fourth did you apprentice somewhere? I have fabricated custom stuff and pulled it out of my head but really I have apprenticed as auto Mechanic then got my journeyman license the. Apprenticed as elevator mechanic theses trades gave me a lot of knowledge so I was wondering where have you gotten the basics thanks

Hey Kyle (fellow Kyle, as that is my name too), I have an interesting idea for the Bibbster I wanted to pass along. The idea involves a way of stiffening up the front suspension. First, i really like the "spiky' look of how you have it so far, but afraid that mounting brackets to the front of the engine to stiffen it may kill the look. My idea is to build a really strong, maybe even solid bar, and have it curved in a large U-shape, with the U tips mounted to the tops of of the front posts, then have the U wrap around the back of the engine, with the back mounted on a swivel to be free moving, to move with the front suspension. Think this would keep the 2 front suspension posts from moving towards each other, but also keep the look, as it would look like the engine if just sitting there and can be pulled out easily. Thinking a solid bar bent would look cool, but also was thinking that if you got some pipe bent around in the U, then weld some sheet metal inside of the U, and have lightening holes drilled to give it a more structural look to it....hard to type "vision" on how stuff would look, so hope you see the idea.
@zwloki0
@zwloki0 5 лет назад
Whatever about the rest , but I'm curious how the front suspension will come out , personally I think there will be too much flex .

Having that fuel cell under the front cowl is a bit of a worry. You don't want to be driving in a movie car that explodes on impact. Having the fuel sitting over hot exhaust headers is not my idea of fun. I'd like to see you around for a few more builds mate. Could the fuel cell be placed under the rear mounted radiator?
@Thefabforums
@Thefabforums 5 лет назад
Fuel cells up front are very common in motorsports. There is a drive shaft under the radiator that moves up and down when the car is lowered, plus the radiator needs air flow so no on that.
