I love Alocasia Velvet, theyre one of the easy Alocasias to grow. They prefer little on the drier side but loves humidity at least 60-80%. Thats where they thrived the most. I bottom water them for at least 10 minutes rather than top watering, and wait for another 7 days during the summer and 14 days in winter

I do have alocasia as well and been with me for more than a year now. Soil is always moist as it is in a plastic pot. I have never encountered the yellowing of leaves. I have propagated the babies and after just 2 months, 7 to 8 more babies are ready for propagation again. They love to be pruned in my opinion so they can produce more offspring 😊

Finally, someone who knows how to care for this plant and from the Philippines. Hard kasi looking for videos on how to care for a plant that is from the same environment as ours unless tagarito din. I bought one with 3 leaves only and 2 na yung nawala and the other one is starting to become yellow na. I never intended to buy this but when i got it, i fell in love with it and it's breaking my heart to see it deteriorating. With your tips, I've been given hope to keep it alive or maybe to buy some more and join them in one pot kasi ang ganda tignan pag marami, like what you have. Thanks be to God again for sharing. My room is really hot so most na nagsurvive are cactus and succulents. The calatheas, they are dying (ganda pa naman sana). Pero when you said the black velvet loves warm temperatures, nabigyan ulit ako ng hope. =)

Thanks for the caring tips on black velvet, I have just repotted my newly acquired black velvet since two leaves have turned yellow. I found out that the soil is all wet since its full of rice hull so I completely change the soil. Its also my experience on my other black velvet that whenever there is a new leaf, the previous one will turned yellow so my 3 pots has either one or two leaves on each pot. Also some plantitas advice me to water everyday but now I know it's a no no.

I have a gorgeous one and I appreciate your video. I let mine dry out well before watering it but I am going to try how you water yours because even though it is doing well, it doesn't have a lot of leaves!!! If you think about it, that's how nature is, dry for a while then some rain, so they dry out naturally. thank you!

Finally a care tips that is base sa weather here in Philippines 🌿 Got my Black Velvet last week 3 leaves lng, the other one turned yellow and cut it, looks like nag yyellow na dn yung isa 😔 hopefully it'll recover because she's my favorite among all my babies. 🙏

Love black velvet alocasia! I am buying another sinply because of the foliage. Since its already summer, I do not put them outside for the morning sun anymore as its too hot (Even my calatheas are struggling. Only the lemon rubber tree and the adansonii is okay with it.). Watering in my case needs to be fully dry

totoo po talaga ung sinabi nio about rice hull. i also recommend it for all alocasias. well draining and budget-friendly. it eventually decomposes. di na talaga need mag purchase ng mga perlite. pumice, etc.

Sobrang confused na ako talaga sa alocasia at caladium. Meron din akong gsnyan medyo maliit nga lang. Pero dahil sa explanation mo,, medyo.maliwanag na sakin. Bagong tita mo. Dalaw ka din sa bahay kong munti. Alam ko.kulang pa ako sa kaalaman ng mga names. Antay kita sa dalaw . Keep safe .God bless
