I was a bit surprised with your task-prioritisation of kayak building, but it definitely makes sense now. That's what makes these recaps so amazing! Looking forward to actually seeing your recce of the area. Please keep the highlights coming! They're extremely insightful.

I can only imagine what it would be like to be alone out in the wilderness with covid. Well done for having your witts about ya. I hope they give Jimmy a second chance on season 2!

what we found so impressive with your time out there was how adaptable you were and how many strategies you deployed. you were so resilient in the face of all of these challenges. Seemed like you had dealt with some of the worst luck out there of anyone and that was even before throwing covid into the mix!

Loved all this insight! The tap out perspective was so great and gives more depth to their choice. The positive Covid test for you is mind blowing! Crazy you were sick and battled thru. The strategy for prioritising is so interesting also as it is very different approach from others. Very cool. Thank you

Mike, me and the wife have just started watching it and finished ep 2. Cheering hard for you, but just hoping you got what you wanted out of it. You've done more than enough to prove how much survival you can get done ! 😊

Got to say Mike you're definitely my favourite so far - creating the tools and the process before starting the job is a fantastic system and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next

Great review Mike. I got hit with covid one time when I had a 6 hour drive home from a camping trip and it was brutal ... let alone when your'e out in the wilderness with no food 🤣 well done on pushing through.

Great recap mate. I thought u looked sluggish on the morning of day two, but it down to your new weight and feeling more cumbersome. I'm looking forward to seeing the kayak on the water!

I think part of the problem with the ferro rod she had, as well as being so small for an extended survival challenge was that it was a cheap one. Cheap ones are generally very hard and more expensive ones are softer. I've had cheap ones and I also have a more expensive Bayite rod. The difference is night and day. The more expensive ones send out a crazy amount of large sparks that land in your tinder and just keep burning for a couple of seconds. The cheaper hard ferro rods send out small sparks that go out almost as soon as making contact with your tinder.

Yes there’s definitely a lot of difference between brands.

Loved watching you on Alone Mike and really felt for you having to leave! Was a nassive fan of both you and Gina. You were both obviously incredible in your own ways and so good to watch. Love how knowledgeable, skillful and logical you were and that you also have a great respect for different ways of being and knowing. Especially in regards to Aboriginal culture. Your nuanced perspectives and reflections are great to listen to and something that people dont seem to do that often! You could tell you gave everything 10000% and i really valued your attitude of puttig yourself into everything and thus having no regrets. My partner and I were discussing how you would have been great at interviewing everyone at the reunion as you would have had good questions to ask. The woman who did interview you all sucked (respectfully). Thanks again!!!!

On the issue of highly infectious Covid it is plain that the production crew knew little about Covid when they should have been more on the ball. Hand sanitiser for a start is useless against a purely aerosol transmitted disease and this was known from the beginning. Secondly the crew who’ve turned up in boats have only been wearing surgical masks which do not prevent aerosols as they’re designed to help stop droplets. No one should have been travelling on planes etc without wearing N95 masks. The chances of catching Covid with a proper fitting N95 is negligible. I wonder Mike if you’re still wearing a proper mask to the supermarket because another infection increases your chance of Long Covid and your bush exploration days will be over. Have you had your 5th vaccination?

Alone is the Olympics of survival. Not a holiday camp... Don't go on a TV show that is a challenge.

Yeah here's the thing Tasmanians west coast in winter has some real teeth, they don't call it the roaring forties for nothing, its hard to fish or scavenge off rocks when you have 3 to 5 meter waves smashing into sore and a wind that can push you over, granted that's not everyday but most of the time. Knowing the west coast myself I doubt the indigenous peoples lived the inland west, it offers too little as far as food goes, the terrain is very difficult and would have been more so pre white settlement. I would say those indigenous peoples were primarily coastal on the west and would have moved north for winter. Personally if society were to go to shit, the west coast is where I would head to. Its just a fucking awesome place, almost no one there and just raw nature at its best. Oh btw Peter, I gave him 4 weeks wow 4 days, I need to revaluate my estimations.

It has to be said, that these two contestants took the chance away from legitimate players, that would have made it way longer than just one day. If you know that you are going to be homesick so quickly, do not participate. Tapping out because of that, has nothing to do with their survival capabilities. It's embarrassing en disappointing nonetheless. The series is called Alone for a reason.

That’s harsh and unfair. I do a lot research into historic survival situations in Australia. Time and time again it’s a case of Europeans being saved be Aboriginal people. They show kindness and generosity to complete strangers in need because they are kind people.

Worst Alone ive watched to much woke point scoring going on . And it should have been done up north . Tasmanian would be the worst place to do it with there political point of view on protecting The environment at all cost .

Total respect Mike. I have watched all your adventure videos and I’m sure you know more than me about survival. However I don’t agree with you about the people selected to participate. I have camped enough to know there are certain important procedures to do. Some participants didn’t seem to really have much of an idea of what was going on.l hope the remaining people show a bit more resilience and smarts.
