@@michamarczuk1420 Exactly, he's doing lift and coast at the end of every straight. He was saving fuel because he knew the Renault was slower than McLaren in this track.
@@michamarczuk1420 If I'm not wrong, in Barcelona pre-season they were already faster than Renault in race pace. And exactly the same in race simulation in Australia FP2. Renault were faster in one lap, but not in pace. And of course, Alonso knows how it's done when you are behind a slower car but you can't overtake it, saving fuel.
Maybe he is not a perfect person. Maybe his decisions were not good etc., but in my opinion he's a really fantastic driver. Defenitely, one of THE GREATEST. That's why I love watching him, when I started to watching Formula 1. I was Alonso's fan and supporter all his career.
So do I. Guy just has the best racing acumen and will go head to head against anyone. Sad most his teams cant provide him with a good racing car that would match his talents
Julian97 it’s because of how bad the dirty air is. If you brake later than the car ahead you will have significantly less grip midcorner compared to if you brake slightly earlier. Lifting before braking makes it much easier to time you braking points compared to other cars, which allows him to drive close to other cars without making mistakes. Perfect example is 4:34, the Renault ahead misses the apex because of the dirty air and has a worse line for the rest of the corner. Fernando hits it perfectly and gets a great exit allowing him to get a run on the Renault.
To give you an idea of how slow the car is, in the Bahrain GP, his gap behind stretched to an entire minute. So he was deserted by the later part of the race.
@@jonathanmanca7251 yep and we saw how much Vettel struggled with a car which was enough to lead the midfield and in case of Charles, fight for podiums, now put them both on a 2014 ferrari
Something about the sound of the car makes me think that there is something wrong or loose. Idk maybe it’s just me. Did y’all notice that steering tho, why does it look like it’s not calibrated. The car came along way for the year after
it happens when you haven't good downforce, when you have good downforce the car goes straight to the apex just turning the steering a little bit, but alonso has to do many movement in his steering
2018 Was such a strange Year... Alonso Left F1 Seb started spinning out for no Reason... Leclerc saved by halo... Hulkenberg flipped Ericsson flipped. Ericsson's Ghost crashed Grosjean out of the Race. Haas started going downhill Halo was introduced... 2019 Was the most neutral Year I've ever seen in F1. Haha. :-D - "The engine feels good... Much slower, than before. Amazing!" But this quote is from Catalunya 2017, when McLaren was using Honda's engines. :-P
@@k1980 Its just funny when Alonso's car is always slow but suddenly when he leaves the team it gets better. And then Alonso's fans say "give him better car"
@@AitoMina maybe because mclaren doesn't need to pay the drivers as they had to Alonso. what would have happened if Alonso took a pay cut and let the money go to develop the car
