@@richboy900 not really, the current era power units sound awful, but there's much much more power and torque. The current cars with 2.4 v8s would be very underpowered and too easy to drive.
This is arguably Fernando's best ever lap in F1. He drove all the way to the finish line with a car 3 seconds ahead and still put together a extremely smooth lap
@Jay Em To Lewis and any other driver who is british. Russell didnt even score a point in F1 yet he is constantly praised from him like hes a god. He always had something against Fernando, Seb and Schumacher. He hated Michael because he beat him and ended his career in f1. Alonso he hated because of feud with Lewis and Mclaren and Seb was on his target simply because he was german and winning... I seem to recall him giving Kimi some backlash couple of years ago the same Kimi he praised beyond reach when he was outdriving Michael in 2003 and 2005. For example when Michael won his 7th title at Spa Kimi won the race that day but Michael was a champion. You rarely get to see drivers win their 7th title but all Brundle talked about that day was Kimi's win. There was no mention of Michael becoming GOAT. Magny cours 2002 another example. Michael and Kimi dueled the whole race. Kimi cracked under pressure from Michael went wide and gifted Michael the lead and the win. It was the race where Schumi won his 5th title. Brundle's driver of the day: Kimi Raikkonen for cracking under pressure from Michael and giving him the win... Its like Michael didnt even existed. Which makes me realise he only praised him because he was beating Michael. Brundle is a two faced snake who always seemed envious that certain drivers had a far better career than him. He always told stories that he was outdone by the team and other driver had more prefferential treatment which is bs. Just admit you were mediocre for christ sake. Now with Lewis its the worst its ever been. When Max wins its because RedBull are faster that day, when Lewis wins its all about his amazing drive and amazing calm to keep under pressure. Him and Crofty are unbearable its unreal. Would rather watch the race with Hungarian commentary than listen to those two...
And to think Mclaren were worried about his driving style when he signed. The thing was Alonso was changing hia driving style to adjust to the hard-to-drive Renaults.
@@goat1760 you're right and I got to admit Kimi's 2005 one was something even more special maybe than 2007, the exact amount of speed almost everywhere, so clean without over or understeering even a little around a track like Monaco, that's brilliant
@@adityavisvanathan38 not at Monaco, there isn't as much downforce at Monaco, the modern heavy cars are much slower in slow corners, faster in fast corners.
All this with the dirty air in Sector 2 & 3 from the Williams in front, maximum concentration from Fernando. Had he stayed at McLaren he would've been World Champion in 2008 and 2010 and maybe Mercedes would've signed him in 2013 to take it on in the V6 era. Hope he wins Indy 500 with McLaren.
Fernando is greatest of all time may be not the successful but the greatest..I really hate how these British medias and youtube streamers hate Alonso I dont know for what reason ....may be bcz its only Alonso who can give a Hamilton a run for his money
I wouldn't say he's the Greatest but he's definitely top 10 imo he was a phenomenal driver in his prime there a reason as to why he managed to dethrone schmacher. Unfortunately he had external problems beyond his control which prevented him from winning more championships. But Senna imo is the GOAT.
I’ve been watching f1 since 2005 and I believe Alonso is the best I’ve seen since then. He can maximize the performance of any car in any conditions. It’s truly remarkable what he did in 2012 with that awful Ferrari. Only Fernando could have taken the fight to the final race like he did. Look at Hamilton that year in what was the best car (but not dominant like today’s Mercs) from the start of the season to the end, Lewis could not match Fernando or Seb for that matter.
He is flying...on the limit and with perfect precision, you dont know how dificult is to become a F1 driver til you watch Monaco...it is unbelievevable!
Only Alonso used initial understeer to such an advantage. To get the most extreme view of the approach, watch him in the Renault at the French Grand Prix. It's the complete opposite of Schumacher's chassis tuning. The one flaw was in the wet, where he seemed least comfortable.
I remember in his Ferrari days a lot of wet races for example the interlagos one in 2012 which he drove like a maniac, throwing the car in a manner I've never seen before. I think he is one of the best on finding the limits of the car and sitting on the edge of it. Such a shame all the years he lost in the postmclaren era.
@@anothervoyager9654 many of his amazing performances aren't even mentioned because he is not a brit... Yet Hamilton's only extroardinary and stunning victory in the wet is milked beyond belief...
I have been looking back over his commentary years recently and he has got increasingly more commercial and kinda party line towing - tries to make the boring aspects sound like lights out! Would rather hear commentary like that - pure enthusiasm!
Damian Kimmins yeah it’s because they are trying to make f1 more of a sport for anyone to watch, so when people start hearing great commentary like this, they don’t know what’s going on because they shouldn’t be watching f1 in the first place, ruining the sport.
sillver0100 He means a Great driver + Mclaren-Honda this combination has worked many times but only in the hands of the right driver remember someone called Ayrton Senna or Alain Prost ?
sillver0100 Thats true but Honda knows the design of the Mercedes engine and have already developed a much better engine then Mercedes all McLaren needs now is a great driver like Alonso
The best driver on the grid for quite some time and Ferrari have been giving him a Fiat to race in the last couple of years. Such a waste. Everyone has their favorite driver and I'm a Hamilton fan. No doubt each driver has their merits, but if anyone can say with a straight face that Vettel would've been champion 4 years running if Alonso was his teammate, I'd say that person needs their head examined.
Alonso should've won the driver's title in 2010 & 2012 if it wasn't for Ferrari not developing his car. Massa's performance during that period was more representative of where the Ferrari car stood in the pecking order.
Actually Ferrari developed the 2012 car a lot during the season. It started out as total dogshit, but in second part of season even Massa was occasionally very quick with it.
Ferrari couldn’t develop the car because Alonso wanted it understeery. It’s way harder to make a fast understeery car than a fast oversteery one, just like the red bull was. I’m pretty sure that if alonso was in the red bull, it wouldn’t have been as fast as people say it was. Just look at onboards and how much lock Alonso had compared to Vettel, that wasn’t Ferrari’s fault, it was him wanting the car that way. It’s the reason why all his teammates look shit when he’s the number one driver, his style is so unique that if you want him to perform the best, you have to make his teammates adapt to his car. It was not about massa being slow and Alonso being the god who can bring any car to the top, if you truly believe that, then trust me, you know nothing.
@@C3lloman That doesn't mean it's bad. What the OP said was right. The car had an amazing front end, the rear tended to step out, opposite of the Ferrari, which understeered.
@@noobednatherium4082 Yes I do. The tyres were also different to what he had used in 2006. But Alonso's inherently induces understeer through his setup.
bang.... Alonso the champ 4 FUCKING SECONDS faster than 2014 pole from rosberg, and sounding a whole lot better too. Thanks fia mehhh what am i complaining about, i couldnt watch f1 if i wanted to, not that i want to anymore, but they've sold broadcasting rights to foxtel in australia, cant watch it on free to view tv anymore. This sport is fast becoming fkn NASCAR
Udarni Radnik They had Traction Control back then which made them accelerate much more smoothly without any wheelspin. I agree that F1 is boring sometimes, but we still get some great races every now and then.
+Udarni Radnik what on earth are you talking about? 2014 monaco pole - rosberg 1:15.989 2007 monaco pole - alonso 1:15.726 that's a 0.2sec difference..
Sorry i meant to say 2 instead of 4 seconds. Cars were also way faster in 2006 than 2007, 2006 pole was 1:13.9, 2014 pole was 1:15.9... so yeah that proves my point either way. The cars in 2014 are slower and are less entertaining to watch than in 2006. You have no argument so dont bother replying..... BTW rosberg's 2014 pole lap would have been good for 18th place on the grid in 2006 and he would have been knocked out in Q1. HAHAHAHHA
Udarni Radnik well yea obviously 2006 cars had way more downforce. i much prefer the f1 of today than the 2006 high downforce cars with super grippy tyres that can go 1432152 laps without any drop off.
MrStig691.....The racing in F1 today is much worse than it has ever been and the biggest problem is these V6 turbo motors...2014-2016 you had one team that was competing against each other...Mercedes won 60 of 63 races in 3 years...The V6 turbo engine has ruined F1 as we know it.....Now go play a video game little troll!
Kimi's lap in 2005 was better. As was Mika's lap in 1999, Trulli in 2004 and JPM in 2002 as well. Alonso always looks like he is clipping apexes perfectly, but actually he loses a lot of speed relative to other top drivers. He has poor mid corner speed.
It is known Alonso carries less speed through the apex and compensates with quick exits. He tends to prefer understeer and while it looks like he is picking the perfect lines, loses crucial mid apex speed in doing so. He has nowhere near the raw talent of a prime Michael or prime Kimi when on form. Sorry. Its called analyzing onboards and knowing racing. A great driver, but noob fans think way too highly of him.
Stevolwo Unreliability issues maybe? I mean I am just being objective. Alonso is great at adapting, but many are faster than him when they have the car under them.
