I've realized that how high the ball jumps reflects the success of the catch. A low jump is guaranteed, but a high jump is a much lower chance

Just a tip: drowsiness seems to help boost catch rate quite a lot, i was able to catch every post game legendary and various alpha pokemon while they were drowsy and in yellow health using an ultra ball. Drowsiness is helpful

For me who’s played MULTIPLE games in which dodging gives I-frames, the fights were easy for me. Only lost once to the- oh wait I shouldn’t spoil

Watching other people play this game and really struggle with the boss fights is real amusing to me. I love souls like games so the dodging was practically muscle memory

I have no idea if Mikey recorded these all in one go, but some tips for anyone starting new (without spoilers) 1. Check the battle order by pressing Y in a battle. If you choose to use a strong or agile style move while the battle order is shown, you can see if you’ll move twice, once, or if the enemy will move twice or once. 2. Catch Alpha Pokémon. Use your heavy balls (or whatever variation you have), bait the Pokémon to show its back and throw the ball from behind. You will need to use a LOT of balls to catch these things, but they are absolutely worth it. They are very high level, have really good stats, and have an advanced movepool. 3. In the village at the dojo, you can talk to the girl in front. She is the move tutor, and although it’s a bit limited, it’s still worth seeing what you can get. Also, the teaching pool expands with every rank. 4. ACTUALLY USE THE STYLES. Both are extremely powerful for catching and killing, and if you use the order, you can see if the move is going to benefit you, or hinder you. 5. CATCH EVERYTHING. Every rank is important, and you get more points for more Pokémon at a time. These points are pretty damn hard to get later on, so get as many as you can at one point. 6. Money. Later on, you’ll be able to buy ultra balls and such for money from a certain vendor before the final battle. Ultra balls are pretty easy to make, but it’s good to stock up anyways because money is easy to get. 7.Space Time distortions. These not only have higher shiny rates, but also have the shards. These can be used later with stardust to craft stars that you can sell. Buy the recipe from the crafting place ASAP. 8. Mass outbreaks have a ridiculous shiny rate. Any time you go to exit the village, and it says there’s a mass outbreak of a certain Pokémon, GO. Not only will it give you the shiny chance, it’s also an opportunity to get some points for certain Pokémon. 9. Stealth. Use it. It’s really easy to sneak up on Pokémon, as long as you have a patch of grass, or a smoke bomb. Using these, you can easily sneak up on ANYTHING. 10. Explore! You will always be rewarded for exploring. 11. Team comp is important because there is a really hard battle post game, but until then, use what you want. 12. Unfortunately, friendship evolutions are still in the game, but they’re much easier. Just use whatever Pokémon you’re trying to have a high friendship with to gather materials and win battles. I got a Sylveon in a matter of like 40 minutes. That’s all I can think about right now after about 90 hours of gameplay, but use these tips CAUSE I REALLY WISH I DID WHEN I STARTED.

I remember seeing the hippowdon alpha in the mirelands, and it looked odd to me because it was tan. I immediately battled it finding out it was shiny and was able to catch it ( After it killed half of my team ). WORTH IT

When your Pokémon faint and are prompted to send in another, you can bypass risking the rest of your team by pressing B to Run Away

I think quillfish can learn Barb Barrage(quillfish new move) in the later levels and that move also makes him evolve to Overquill, the new quillfish Evo Barb Barrage is a physical move

Hey Mikey if it helps, if you click X on the move selection screen in battle it brings up the move description and if you click + (the magnifying glass) it will show yours and the enemies pokemon status conditions. Sleep only has a chance to make you not move instead of making you not move at all. ALSO also make sure to use the Grit pebbles, and other grit stuff it makes life ALOT easier

Honestly, hands down one of the best pokemon games ive ever played! I even came across a shiny Starly about 4hrs in. My 2nd ever shiny without breeding, hunting etc. So that seals it for me

For space distortions it's best to pick a spot in grass and wait. So when the pokemon appear you aren't immediately jumped.

Never thought I would fall in love with Ursaluna. The little dance after he digs up treasures is adorable. Also the climbing mount is sooo much fun. Also also *insert foreshadowing on the Volo comment*

Have you been giving your pokemon the grit dust and grit gravel, Mikey? I've found that helps make them a lot more durable with fighting. Pokemon that haven't had their effort levels raised seem really easy to KO otherwise.

I got Hisuian Goodra, was so lucky when I caught the Hisuian Sligoo, it was right after the Ursaluna fight, there's a place where Wyrdeer can actually jump across the river and that's how I caught it early. Immediately after the Lilligant fight I went to the Cobalt Coastlands where it was raining and evolved it. His name is Goomer

I just beat the main story of the game today and I can say that I love Legends Arkoos. No spoilers but the story goes crazy near the end, each of the Nobles are really fun fights (especially the second and fifth ones), and the Pokémon that is noble #2 is now tied with Garbodor for my favorite Pokémon cause it’s pretty and it is an amazing physical attacker and was my MVP. (Found an alpha of its prevolution and evolved it.)

I'm like, 90% sure because of the fact that charm has a gengar AND Rhydon, that she's a common ancestors between Bertha and Agatha

I honestly think that the Lilligant fight along with the one with the fifth noble (which will go unnamed for the purposes of preventing spoilers to those who haven't gotten that far) are probably some of my favorites

I couldn't imagine someone trying to do a nuzlocke on a game like this but I'm sure someone is going to prove me wrong
