Alpine Lakes trout fishing is one of my favorite activities in the summer. I will show you an effective method on how to catch trout in a lake with insects! I used Dragonfly larvae with huge success. Found some wild mushrooms as well, which I added to the most delicious catch & cook yet! Alpine Lakes fishing at it's finest. Remember to prepare for a safe journey into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, and practice "leave no trace". Thank you!

Hi, just a little advice, since you asked in the video. When I fish for trout, I like to set my drag slightly tighter, and reel slower and less aggressively. I find that all the wiggling caused by super low drag combined with fast reeling tends to loosen the hook, and often results in lost fish, like the one in the very beginning. Love your vids btw!
@simba9725
@simba9725 2 года назад
I notice he does not set the hook, he yanks it out of the mouth, and if the hook sets, he cranks as fast as he can, probably ripping the mouth.

I thought about it, but didn't feel it was something I wanted to do. There is a go-fund-me to help contribute to the new GoPro Hero 7 which gave us 4K and hypersmooth video. Besides that, the easiest way people can contribute is just buying their amazon stuff through my affiliate links in the video descriptions! Don't even need to buy what I'm linking to. Amazon pays about 5% on anything people buy when entering their site through my links 😆But the bottom line is that I'm not really worried about making money here. I want to focus on a fun, local fishing channel for you guys, and make good videos. It's hard work, but with the growth we're seeing, I am determined to make it my career at one point! Wow, long answer! I really appreciate you caring...

Broadcasting catch and cook success in Washington state ruins fishing in Washington state. Just saying.
@thomasw178
@thomasw178 3 года назад
@@TheImpizzle911 How's that?
@TheImpizzle911
@TheImpizzle911 3 года назад
@@thomasw178 everyone likes the idea of catching wild fish and eating it out of respect, but seeing as fishing holes and rivers have become unexpectedly more popular (the population of people old enough to fish has gone up, the whole catch and cook being broadcast, and an influx of people into the fishing community due to the coronavirus) recently, I can't help but connect the dots between seeing the tourist population at local spots explode, the number of fish/quality of water decline and not to mention garbage. I don't think this guy litters. Right on 👍. But holy shit has it become a problem even on the trails to alpine lakes you see on apps like Reddit and tiktok. Not to mention people who hike their paddle boards into warm water lakes or rivers and hike them somewhere else without knowledge of how easily you can contaminate a water body with excellent water quality and turn it into a marsh. Kinda on my soap box, only because this is my favorite hobby and I've seen it happen to various of my favorite spots. I only mean to be informative here.

Nice video, thanks for sharing. My family have also used fly rods with spinning reels on them to fish sometimes as it has a few advantages. 1 more portable, 2 more sensitive, and 3 more length for longer casting. Helps sometimes to get the bait out past a drop off or weed bed. Maybe next time you should fish from the bottom for more sucess? Like threading your hook through a mini marshmallow than hook your live bait. And have your weight 1-3 ft above your hook. The marshmallow will raise your hook and bait off the bottom into the strike zone. Just make sure you use a small size hook amd bait for better buoyancy. But I have way better sucess bottom fishing in summer months opposed to bobber fishing.

@@NWFishingSecrets for sure, just got to adjust how big of bait vs how much marshmallow you use. You want to usually go small, but still want alot of buoyancy for floating off the bottom. NW Fishing Secrets it doesn’t seem like that lake gets very much pressure... if you put the right fly on they’ll take it but that’s the hard part, picking the right fly haha. Try midging in that situation. Just drop a tiny zebra midge under a small bobber or throw a woolley bugger/streamer. If I were you in this situation... There's a serious reason why I am subscribed to and watch your channel. I have become completely disabled in the last year. I can no longer go fishing. I can't get down to the shoreline, nor get into a boat. It's videos like these that help feed my need for trout fishing. Just the way you get so excited when you land a fish (any fish) brings that thrill back for me. I sincerely appreciate you making and posting these video for us all. I can't wait for the day you have enough subscribers that you can make this your full-time job. You are getting there, I am rooting for you buddy!!!

Just stumbled across your vids today. I binged a few and subscribed. Watched them all the way through too, which is rare for me. Your narration and photography are excellent, as well as your love of nature. But the best part of your vids is your honesty. Well done.

I love the mountain lake videos the best. I love the drive and hike it. There's something really Interesting about watching people set up camp. Love the fishing, of course. Like your van and the drives. Love the drone shots! Just superb, and the underwater shots - they just add visual interest. Quiet music and silence... And your enthusiasm and explanations - just a winning combination.

Dude, that sounds like an epic fight. I had one like that last year on the Green, which ended with me losing a massive hen on a submerged log. The pain will go away once we land another beast! 😂🐟 Is the Nisqually pretty packed with people, or are there some private spots? Never fished that one before!

You need to sharpen the hooks, that’s probably why you keep missing the hooks
@NWFishingSecrets
@NWFishingSecrets 4 года назад
Thanks - so many things led to losing those fish. Hooks were a main factor, as was me not playing them long enough/ having the drag set too tight. Redemption following in the next episode!! 🔥 🎣
