Alpine is always a best sub always.. They were build an design to play very smooth high quality lows. They are really true to the source of quality low bass. I had 1 12 in this same black type r tuned to 29hz an i must say i respect these subs when it comes to low bass. They are great👍
I'm really impressed at how quiet it was. I've always liked the look of those subs with that surround. I've never personally heard those subs in person so I'm interested to hear what you think once you put it in a box. Keep up the good content💯👍
I have 2 of these under the rear seat of my 2016 Sierra in the halo truck setup. They sound amazing. The younger me wouldn’t have considered a couple of 8’s when putting a system together but I’m glad I chose them. It’s the first thing I’ve ever purchased Alpine and I’m open to more of the options they offer now.
Man i just love the Myron does these driver reviews...unboxed with details, Free air test to examine throw, then box to hear it and test the drivers performance....Ive never used Alpine products but this driver has me very intrigued. I can't believe how quiet it is.....2015 Sierra 1500 under might be home to 4 of these bad boys......I wish JL 8w3 made a dual voice coil....that would be the permanent box in my truck for sure...can't find the Kicker Qclass anymore....but the box size on these os perfect for my available space...

iv had every generation of alpine type r even before the hmr surround by far my favorite subwoofers ever made. i liked it over the jlw7 and i worked doing car audio we sold both brands
Man. Impressive. I know it's not (ppl say)an SPL momster...... But since it's not (in the hands of others) known to have crazy high output..and it will work in smaller areas... Does it mean that we might get to hear FOUR in the Dually Mega Cab? Would be SO interesting to compare it to those 4 6.5" DDs you ran in that incredible box you made.. and compare it to those AND the other 8s? Either way, stand back, folks, Mad Scientist at work!!!

I have a 10" dual 4. Currently pushing 700 rms at 2ohm. It is in a small box. Everyone tells me to send more to it cause the smaller box. .375 ft3 is my box and requires .5 ft3. 300 to 750 rms is what specs say. What if I run double to it?
What would be the sound difference between two alpine mono amps... My current 3 year old amp is 500w RMS @ 2Ohms. The new version is 600W RMS @ 2Ohms. Is there any reason to upgrade at $250 cost for an extra 100w? I don't think there is, but I may be wrong. The alpine amps have the same rating at 2ohms or 1 ohm. Does that matter or tell you anything about the amps quality?
The subwoofer free airing with hardly any noise is the FS spec. Also all those spl subs are noisy & anoying because the double stiff spiders make it so noisey
Image Dynamic have em covered hell the type X is better for sq , lots of stuff out there a Tick better but you are going to pay for it . Type R are the truth at the end of the day .
