I backed it down a smidge from my last tune and am running at 944 right now. Ive tried a lot of speeds from 880-1015 and can tell you from my testing a hair over 950 is the fastest I’ve gotten them to group very well and it took a lil time to find that tune. The closer to 900 you get the more forgiving with a tune. The faster you get the more they require the tune to be closer to that sweet spot. But once I got past the 960’s there wasn’t a tune I could find that grouped good enough for me. Some of the groups were really good then comes a random flier(s) when testing at higher speeds. If I watched a chrono the speeds would end up looking similar this 970,975,972,932,973,975,945 and the faster you go the worse the your FPS string would look and the more random fliers you would get no matter what I did. Cleaning and lubing them would lessen the fliers by probably 25% or so but wasn’t good enough to justify the extra work.
Just got my slugs and ran out to test them. Shot good in the 900ish fps zone. I couldn't get my reg/hammer to settle down. What reg pressure/hammer tension are you running?
@@BraedonBriscoe keep an eye on your speed. These ones as you get over your speed threshold you will start getting fliers. And those fliers will coincide with random velocity changes. The higher in speed above where they want to shoot the more random velocity changes you will experience in a group. The settings on my 700 currently are at 2.25 and 17. Let me know how they do for ya.
@@BraedonBriscoesorry forgot to put the reg pressure in there. I’m at 150 currently. They seemed to like lower pressure compared to the higher pressure when I tested them.
Thanks, The .22 pantheras are 1:16. It’s a good twist that will stabilize a large range of weights, might have to slow or speed up your projectile to accommodate the twist. 40’s are very good ballistic wise but you have to slow them down and finesse them a bit, not quite as forgiving tune-wise as the 33’s or 34’s. Lots of other high grain high BC options about to hit the market very soon.
What other high grain high bc options are coming out? I've been shooting h&n 40g but my accuracy has suffered. Going to try some 38g NSA next. @@Competitiveairgunning
@@BraedonBriscoe zan has some ELR .22 and .25 cal boat tails coming out. They have a much higher BC but got a couple more weeks at least most likely be late may I’m guessing. There is another popular name “possibly” coming out with some very soon as well just not sure where they are at. I’ve tried 40’s in other brands besides Altaros and haven’t got any groupings I’ve liked. I still run the .34’s all the time.
