Alternatives to 4 Discontinued Classic Mens Fragrances 

Much appreciated, man. BTW, am I the only one who's just itching to get back to weaving my fall and winter fragrances? Not that I don't enjoy my fresh/soapy clean/batbershop scents but by this far into summer I'm just so ready for the return of jacket weather and my great spicy/woody/leathery scents.

Loving this channel. Great reviews. I like that is is a like more "manly" than some of the other chnnels. They are good to, but good selection here of non-sick sweet fragrances. Could you do a House of Puig? i.e. Quorum, Agua Brava, Quorum Silver, Quorum Aqua, and Agua Brava Azul. Again great channel.

@@jeremyt2212 Hiya Jeremy - Coming from an old guy, it comes to mind that back in the day, we didn't really do much wear "seasonal" fragrances... But more or less "matched" our scents with our clothes. In other words, we had a fragrance for everyday wear, one for sports or exercise and one for getting dressed to the Nines... And wore them year 'round. I'm 56 now and still do that the same way... But I have to admit that I do have a pretty extensive collection these days. Cheers!

Thank you for this. Unrelated to this video, one of my favorite types of video you do is the “Then and Now” series. I would encourage you to do one on the original Perry Ellis for Men. Older bottles are available, and the contrast is stark. I enjoy them all, but the original formula is my all time favorite and simply beautiful. Thanks for you content.

Great video Kelan - really enjoy your channel! Another alternative to Tsar could very easily be Lauder for Men. Although this came out 4 years prior (1985), I think you’d find it similar.

Another informative and unique review Kelan! I have miniatures of the four originals but so leather to use them too much due to their rarity (and cost!), so great to have some cheaper and more available alternatives to engage with. I've not tried any Loewe fragrances although I see them listed all the time, so you have convinced me to buy the one you talk about! Idea for a future review, inspired by the Jaguar choice - fragrances from luxury car manufacturers such as Bentley, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo and Jaguar etc....just a thought! :)

Hey Kelan, try out Lagerfeld Classic; imo it's similar to Kouros in style and performance, on top of that it's dirt cheap. Definitely worth checking out although it might be a bit too sweet for your nose. Greetings from Germany!

I know Sebastian praises Athena fragrances for some of their clones of discontinued stuff, including Rive Gauche. Haven't tried any of them myself, but it might be something to look into for those interested. Totally agree with Loewe Pour Homme.

I really enjoyed your video today and seeing which ones you might recommend. I love Rive Gauche and it is very difficult to find anything which comes close to it. I have no idea why YLS discontinued it. I certainly agree that Azzaro Pour Homme is in the same family but is much less rounded. It is another of my favourites. Hopefully you will do a similar video in the future! Great work! :0)

I have hundreds of fragrances and love finding the old, original foundational fragrances from the past, but Rive Gauche Pour Homme is the single biggest let down I've experienced. Most fragrances I find something in there I find remarkable or appealing, but Rive Gauche is just....shaving foam. I do not find it pleasant whatsoever and I tried my hardest to love it and justify what I bought it for, but just couldn't. Unloaded it quite quickly and moved on. Azzaro's take on it may be worth trying out. Perhaps they add a little twist to it that may work for me. Great video! It's nice to see someone feature the older, hard to find fragrances from the past.

for that Italian citrus anise I really love Tuscany per Oumo ..EL just discontinued the whole line except for Aramis ..thanks for a great clone/alternative video..unfortunately don't remember Rive Gauche in the 80s you wore the king Drakkar Noir, YSL Kouros, Paco Rabanne pour Homme, or Azzaro pour Homme. that was it for most guys and the funny thing is that no body would wear something called "barber shop" everyone wanted their cologne to be more sophisticated if that is the word LOL. marketing right?!

Hi Kelan. Have you ever tried Vermeil Pour Homme? I'm interested in getting a bottle of it, but I'm wanting to learn a little more about it before I would get it. Is it similar to YSL Kouros, e.g. do they both have Animalis 1745?

For tsar i substitute supremacy noir afnan with jaguar green. Its stronger and longer!

Loewe Pour Homme. Love it too. Just bought my first bottle. The one you show is getting hard to find. Not sure if new formulation in more plain bottle is the same.

Discontinued Van Cleef and Arpel Midnight in Paris is supposed to be another fantastic fragrance that is hard and expensive to find and alternatives aren't easy to find either.
