@@zenos.5315 That is true, but some reformulations are reasonably close to vintage smells, while others smell completely different from the original so much so that it might as well be a totally new fragrance. May not be even worth the purchase. I think that's the point of his suggestion
One Man Show is such an awesome fragrance. I only bought it after watching your channel. It puts modern fragrances to shame and most importantly always puts a smile on my face.
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey it’s a beauty alright. Honourable mention to another recommendation you made that I simply would never of heard of or tried if it wasn’t for your channel. Giorgio Beverly Hills. That dresses up exceptionally with a touch of class and so dam cheap. Thanks Kelan.
I should mention that with Polo ( and you also may have mentioned this in other videos) that for a while it was reformulated poorly. But then in 2019 ( probably dude to all the complaints) it was reformulated back to smelling closer to the vintage. So a person should either buy a vintage or a 2019 and up. The 2019 and up are pretty close to the vintage.
thank you, i love this Scent too but, you mentioned that, still is being made! when i goole it, i found this...Almost 40 years after its launch, Oscar Pour Lui was discontinued in 2016. it is Sad.
Excellent bunch here although the two I've never sniffed are Polo and Pour Lui. The Denim flankers are worth having a look at too. My fougere longevity gem is Al Rehab Dakar. Spray version then put some of the roll on over it. Drakkar Noir vibes that lasts all day and night.
Thank you for a great video! I used to wear Polo Green in the late 70's--early 80's. Haven't worn it since, and it's great to hear you say it's still a great fragrance. In fact, I think I'm going to buy a bottle as a result of your review. Thank you.
I bought a 30ml bottle. My only regret is I didn’t buy 100ml. After a shower you smell like fresh soap all day with a pungent green opening. Treat yourself.
I think I remember him saying in his first "4 Forgotten Fragrances" video where he covered Furyo that he does like it, but in a later video he mentioned that it just wasn't something he loves. I do agree with the performance, though! My favorite strong, long-lasting, animalic scent behind Kouros (of course lol)
Furyo is a beast No doubt, it was one I got and initially I was thinking I’d like it but I ended not being the biggest fan so I sold those off, regardless it’s insanely strong though it was just to much on the sweet floral for me
Polo for men! I absolutely recommend the original Cosmair formulation over the current formulation. The scent on the whole and the performance of the original is leaps and bounds above the present product. Cosmair was pre-IFRA and it shows. The Cosmair stuff is liquid gold.
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey I’ve been fortunate in that several of the vintage bottles have been up for auction on eBay in recent weeks. I can see why people who prefer a retail experience would want to stick with the present stock, though
Lapidus Pour Homme is a Masterpiece! It smells kinda like all 80s Fragrances mixed ... it is so Unique, you defenitly get a little Kouros and that some Pacco rabanne Pour Homme... plus some warm and Spicy notes ... its just wonderful !But have to be carefull ! 2-3 Sprays Max. I once did 6 Sprays and it ruined the scent .... it was to much ...
Hey Kellan. The Polo cosmair edition of Polo is a beast! To me there is no comparison if you get a good bottle of cosmair edition. But Polo modern reserve is a beast performer. I put it on the day before. The next day I went to a sweat over 24 hours later. And they were asking me what cologne I was wearing! Polo modern reserve is the best beast
100% the cosmair version is better I agree but I wanted to let people know the current one was good too, I’d imagine not everyone wants to buy vintage lol. I need to try modern reserve
Bro 34 comments already your channel is popping off. the fragrance game is getting hot after Covid people are really feeling the vibes these days. God bless bro you are doing great, love the content. - Just picked up a bottle of Gucci Guilty pour homme, and a bottle of Dior sauvage, both EDT.
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey i'll be honest the Sauvage is not really my style. but one old school power house fragrance that you may not have heard of that I have been rocking lately is the Vintage 4 oz Tamerisk Splash Cologne by Mary Kay. Spicy, warm, vanilla, woods. It's classy and sophisticated and really under the radar.
Great video. After fining your channel I purchased One Man Show. I got it off ebay and on arrival the cap was broke like yours...LOL. I think Aramis could have made this list.
Like One Man Show I sssume, the Oud edition is explosive. I would even describe its performance as dangerous - one spray from a distance max. Also i agree with you on the modern Korous - It's great smelling, and powerful.
Thank you K... perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. Attainable frags for men who want to smell like men without spending 500 and risking an ebay scam. My father loved the original Ted lapidus. Red top late 70s. I have some it's really nice leathery. I love bon monsueir and I know you do too. Thank you. Gona try a couple of these...and another one... can't remember the name you reviewed it...inexpensive very similar to drakkar noir.
Lomani Pour Homme ?? That’s probably it. Also I have never tried the red bottle Ted Lapidus that’s the original one from the house right ? Before pour Homme
Bois du Portugal was my first full Creed and to me BDP and GIT is creeds best , especially in longivety and BDP is soooo classy, fresh but heavy and😍😍😍😍 just love that fragrance, u feel royal
Got all the ones mentioned .Also Rapport by Eden classics smells really nice and lasts really well Only £9 as well absolute bargain. Also the man silver by Milton lloyd £5.But Probably the one that lasts the longest though on my skin is either promise by Frederic malle or interlude man .
Bois de Portugal smells great but i sprayed a bottle from a friend twice on my arm a couple of weeks ago and it lasted me 2 hours at most, on clothing it lasts considerably longer but performance-wise, at least from batches since 2020, it's a no show sadly.
Wonderful list and I agree with you this is a strong performance list and I also own Pour Lui, Polo Green & Kouros is also my favourite in this category. I have been reluctant to pull the trigger on the One Man Show thou. But I think its time I get it and so is Ted Lapidus together with Quorum, Soon and very soon. Sadly no Denim on this side of the world. When it comes to TF Beau de Jour, I prefer Davidoff Zino it performs way better on me although TF did a good job on replicating it. Sadly I am not a Creed fan but I do own Lalique Pour Homme and I hear through the community that it is similar to Creed Bois du Portugal... This thing lasts and lasts on me and I love it... Great review as always...
Definitely get one man show for sure it’s a great inexpensive powerhouse scent, Lalique pour Homme I thought was very sweet I gave that one away. Thanks so much for watching !
These are killer choices. I actually think Bois du Portugal is THE best Creed fragrance. Sung Homme is perhaps my strongest fragrance, I must have choked people out with it😂.
Great list! I love Beau de Jour. I need to take another look at Bois du Portugal. I have a decant but haven't wore it in a while. What do you think of Guerlain Héritage?
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey you should definitely check it out. I know you hate Zino, which it is compared to, but they don't compare in quality or overall scent. Heritage is so much brighter and full of life. I recommend the edt over the edp
Hi Kellan, great video as usual although this is one of my favourites so far. I haven't been able to try most of the scents you mention but some are on my buying list. I am on the love team for Ted Lapidus but understand how it could be some off putting to some people. It performs well on my skin although I wish it would be a bit stronger. Have you tried Lord from Al Rehab? I strongly recommend it, its DNA is similar to TDPH mixed with some Kouros. Quite herbal, floral and aromatic. It also performs great, maybe stronger than TDPH. Thanks for sharing your passion with us! 💪🏻
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey Glad to see you know about it. Powerhouse indeed 😂 and with Lord I am still torn about do I love it or not? Do you know about Landos from Al Rehab? It's a non animalic sort of milder version of Lord, you might like it too. Thanks a lot again for your efforts. Love your content and I do learn a lot from you. Vintage scents forever! 😎
Hi, Kellan! Hope you're doing well. As for the list, I can vouch for the performance of both Kouros and Beau de Jour as they're great performers. At the same time, I would love to bring your attention to Salvador Dali pour Homme by Salvador Dali, made by Thierry Wasser, a master perfumer who worked for Guerlain for a long period of time. I have a 9ml decant of it (6ml left after two weeks) and not only that it performs just as well as the any of the fragrances on this list, but also the scent profile is well received by those who have warmed up to 80s style fragrances. It opens up with dominant green notes which then settles down to animal-like musks and cocoa-esque patchouli drydown as well as woody nuances chilling in the backseat. I would say that its scent profile is in the same vein as Zino by Davidoff, but you won't get the burnt syrup vibe going on about it, don't worry 😅 Plus, the bottle design is pretty artsy. (but that's expected coming from a huge household name in the surrealism art movement) It's available on discounter websites like FragranceX for a pretty low price. I think you'll like it. Sorry for a long paragraph 😬
Hm, I wonder if you like Costume National Soul. To me a masterpiece (Dominique Ropion). Super performance (sillange, projection & sillage). Have you tried it? 🙃
I have fragrances 1-5 and Davidoff Zino instead of Tom Ford Beau De Jour. Kouros is disgusting for me. Others are amazing. And fortunately I can buy Denim Original for $4.
hey dude, you make such amazing videos and I guess we have the same taste in fragrances. I LOVE Pace Rabanne pour homme and Jaguar (Green) for men, BUT....... my wife think all those smell like 'old men' (I guess I understand what she means). My question for you is: do you know any long-lasting, strong fresh fragrances that are a bit less fougere/barber-shop, and a bit more 'modern' (less 80's smell). THANX a lot and much love from Europe!!!! 💚
Fougère d’Argent by Tom Ford is great! One of my favorites. Classic fougere style with a modern twist featuring mandarin, lavender, and ginger as the main accords. Definitely worth a try if you want something with a classic style but modern and fresh (and your wife will probably love it)!
What about Sauvage Eau de Parfum or Prada Luna Rossa Carbon? Masculine, fresh, long lasting and modern. Not very original, but they do smell good and women love them.
I got super lucky and found a bottle of Denim at TJ Maxx for only $12. It's certainly a good performer and a perfect scent for a 30 year old male like me.
On a side note, I have a vintage bottle of Faberge Brut aftershave that performs very well and smells incredible, much better scent than the current formula of brut.
@@domrice8628 from what I understand it’s the same scent just the performance isn’t as strong. I ordered what I thought was & what was photographed as a vintage bottle and I got one of the black bottles instead so I got my Money back and sold the black bottle one as well lol
In order: yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, no. Own them all. Fouger Argent is far better than Beau de Jour but nothing bests Moss Breeches (own 98 percent of Ford's shizz). I own zero Creeds! Why? Was not impressed by any at their Vegas store.
