Hi. I do have a question about keeping altum angelfish. I currently keep 14 large discus in my 720 liter tank. All is doing well in my relatively hard tap water tds around 380 ph around 7. Would these parameters be okay for keeping altum angels? They will not be wild caught, probably raised by Simon Formel. Thanks
Did they look after subsequent spawnings? I find that often the fist spawning or a new spawning after a break do get eaten. I have often thought this is because the female has been carrying the eggs for a while and they are not as good quality as for the next spawning.
They've eaten 3 spawns already. All on the 3rd day when there are about 50 healthy eggs left. I am thinking that either my water is not soft enough for the eggs to hatch, or they don't get fertilised. I first though that they both females, but last time I saw that male has much thinner vent. I will give them another chance and then remove the cone with eggs to an incubator tank.
Congratulations. It’s not easy to breed Altum angels. They are so beautiful. Are they F1 pair or wild caught pair? What’s the dimensions of this breeding tank ? Because Altum are big fish, a lot of breeders stack 2 breeding cones together for adding height. It would be easier for the pair to lay and fertilize eggs. A dim lighting would be also helpful to make them stable.
Thank you! This is F1 pair. They are in a 40gal breeding tank. Actually I tried a longer breeding cone and even an upright piece of bogwood, but they seem to prefer this particular cone for some reason. The light was on just for shooting, it certainly made them slightly uncomfortable.

Thank you! I moved the pair to a breeding tank, because they get too nervous in the display. Can't wait to see your Altums in their new tank! They must have grown a lot.
@@tropicalfishhub Oh, ok... yeah, I'm planning to use only RO for my system. It's about ~280 litres. I was told to do one or 2 water changes of 20% a week. I'm planning to use white sand on the bottom, so I can siphon the junk out of the system s much as I can. This is a very emotional move for e. I love angels since I was 10 and only now, 40 years later, I got the courage to pull the trigger. Your channel is great and probably the main reason for my move. I hope it works as planned.
