Thank you for this video! My personal understanding of introvert/extrovert is how you recharge. Extroverts recharge by being around people, introverts recharge by being alone. I personally am an introvert, I recharge by being alone (or in my home with my wife/kids). I am by no means shy, non-assertive, or afraid/anxious to approach people and start conversations. My current vocation requires me to be very social and to communicate and interact personally with individuals, small groups, as well as large groups in a public speaking capacity, sometimes tackling difficult topics or awkward conversations. After a long day of being "social" I do feel tired or somewhat drained and need to recharge in a low key environment where I don't feel like I need to be "on". An extrovert, on the other hand, would feel energized after a long day of socializing. Let me know if this is a proper understanding of the topic or if I'm potentially "shooting myself in the foot" by labeling myself as an introvert, as I'm currently in the process with two police departments. I have taken the Myers Briggs and I got an INTJ.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and perceptions Miguel. It is best wo ask that question of a therapist or psychiatrist who can better explain to you if you would be a good fit for a peace officer position if you assert that you are an introvert. Keep in mind that peace officers are constantly dealing with people at various temperaments and I would be concerned that if being around too many people drains you, - you may not be a good fit for this profession. My last full-time job as a police officer we worked 11 hour days for four days with four days off but some of those days off would be spent in court testifying or working overtime. Again, this is just my opinion and you should do some research to see if a person who is an introvert would be able to pass psychological evaluation and obtain employment as a peace officer. I think an ambivert is most people. Omnivert on the other hand is most likely diagnosed with a disorder. I know someone like that! Thanks for this video very informative 👍
What if they ask you on the psych test if you like Opera, Mechanics, Poetry, Reading books versus building and if you life of a party?? Also, why are there Math questions?
I don't think they should disqualify you for writing introvert or ambivert just because the qualities are not good for being a cop, plus isnt the purpose of the psych test to see if your crazy or not and you answering everything truthfully even when they throw the same questions 5 times at you. There are plenty of introverted cops out there.

To enter the law enforcement profession, applicants must fit a ‘mold.’ They must fit that mold or a background investigator, psychologist or Field Training Officer will wash them out during their evaluation processes. In early years of school students take various personality tests to see what professions would be a good fit for them. By further researching each profession, students learn what the job molds are and if they would be a good fit for that career. 😊
Law enforcement officers 👮 must be willing to communicate with people. If you feel that you could not perform this task or that your introverted tendency may block this behavior, it may affect how a police psychologist 👩⚕️ decides on whether or not to pass you for that career. It is best to research what type of personality you are by taking the Meyers Briggs test and after looking at the results you can see if you would be a good fit for what type of various jobs. One other option is to consult with a private psychiatrist on the matter.
have a question 2 years ago i was at my freinds house who ive known since elemntry school and i was in his room and he was smoking weed but i wasent but i was hanging around him while i was and he was not 21 would me being exposed to it but not smoking it disqualify me from applying to law enforcement.
no it would not disqualify you for that specific event. just try and stay away from those people if you truly do want to become a police officer. i went to a hiring event and they said “ show me your friends and i’ll show you your future “. just keep these things in mind
If you are in a room with someone who is smoking weed, you are in fact, inhaling that same air. Most departments want you to be drug-free for at least three years regardless if it was use or experimentation. Hanging out with certain acquaintances will disqualify you from employment in law enforcement. It is best to surround yourself with people who you’re not embarrassed to introduced to your Background Investigator. Attending parties where drugs are being used and remaining there. Once you recognize that people are using illegal drugs goes against character. Keep in mind that, in order to enter the law enforcement profession, you must become the example for others to follow. Seeking a career in law-enforcement requires you to abandon old friends or toxic people who may potentially disqualify you from entering the law enforcement profession. Most believe the sentence “tell me who you hang out with, and I will tell you who you are as a person.” Sacrifices, such as finding better friends are required in order to present the type of person who law enforcement agencies went to hire. 😊
