So by your definition you both practice and study ninjutsu. So can't others do the same including those you discredit?

But when I went on my ninjutsu seminar we sneaked during the night , studied formations of movement , how to cover the lit up parts of your face like cheek bones , fore head with ash and mud , when we went to the forest for a seminar , there was like a small town near the lake , we had to walk down with no light climb up and down to take AA batteries for a flash light (that was in front of a group of other practitioners) what we actually have to do is pick up the aa batteries (while sneaking and letting no one see us ) and when we return to make a diversion near their tents and break up the other practitioners tents they heard us and we had to jump downhill and stay still with bugs crawling all over us and not to mention how many mosquitos bit me and not to mention how hard it was to stay still without making a sound as there were dead leaves everywhere which rattled like crazy. I think that , that was learning shinobi techniques , of course I will never learn to make poison and kill someone with it but generaly we are learning Ninjutsu , from Taijutsu to sabotage , infiltration , gathering information. The combat techniques that we use were practiced by shinobi , shuriken were used by shinobi , anyway I support your work as I hate the modern day view of a ninja , and believe me bujinkan has nothing to do with the modern day views of a ninja .

There is a real master today his name his Hatsumi. I agree you do need a teacher to give you deeper detailed instruction and guide you. No disagreement there. There are things books can never teach you especially the higher more advanced teachings involving the mind and strategy. As well as sensitivity and invisibility. All aspects of real Ninjutsu.Authentic Ninpo.

I practice bujinkan. My instructor always tells us when we are working fist forms throws weapons and all that. It is not ninjitsu, it’s what ninjas probably have used as a base for Combat. From the moment your doiing the things you address in This video. You are actually doiing ninjitsu. Bujinkan aint just ninjitsu and people shoud stop getting it confused all the time.

Hackers are likely the best example of ninjas today. -There are those who specialize in physical security, like lockpicking, circumventing security systems, etc. -There are those that dress like a cubicle worker or janitor, and say certain phrases, and are granted access. -And there are also those that will infiltrate like the cliche ninja image. This would be modern day ninjutsu, or atleast the spirit of it; hackers are after information, or attack with misinformation.

This is like denominations and religion. You have one set of guys who have spent the past 30 years learning one thing on faith and testimony of a Japanese man. And then a young guy comes along and makes claims that are backed and supported with evidence of original documents written by the very people the cult followers are supposed to be emulating. And the young man says,"Hey what you're doing is BS!" Then they have think that the thousands of dollars they spent on books, videos, seminars, trips overseas was all a lie. The information they spread to others was a lie and by proxy the people they taught they also made them unknowing liars. So do you keep with the lie because truth hurts too much?

I am a 'taijutsu practioner.' Having said that, it is a form ie practioner. I studied under Sensei Stephan K Hayes (first American allowed to learn the art of Njnjutsu). He's the 'real deal,' a great teacher and overall gentleman. Would you like to tell him he's not practicing 'true~Njnjutsu?'

The question should be do you know anything about modern ninjutsu? How do you know what clandestine groups are teaching now. I know for a fact for example Hatsumi wasn't even Takamatsu top student. Japanese have a thing were someone maybe the top student and not be the Soke. There is a linage being passed on even among the Takamatsu Den that isn't from him. There is also others who secretly practice modern ninpo skills.

very interesting. It sounds like I may have been practicing it unbeknownst to myself when I was a kid. For years, a friend and I. practiced moving through other people's gardens unseen. Usually in the summer or fall, when it was warmer. Today I do live action role-playing. but I don't think that cuts it as practicing.

The Next Three Days is an excellent way to show how, in a realistic scenario, what the risks were and how you would go about them. For now, most of us can't admit to practicing In-nin. Instead, you try to find ways around it by either using Yo-nin, or by studying ways to bypass and "nullify" the... structure/edifice/transport/supply line of your choosing. Also, making it appear accidental also helps; if one would want to be completely unknown to their "opposition" I mean.

False. People do practice stealth and climbing. Native Americans practiced that all the time, it was part of their survival and hunting skills. There were spies before ninjas and they did quiet well in entering castles. Just because you don't know anyone doesn't mean it's not done. Book learning is just basic info. Book learning is not the most important. Physically doing is more important. Hand to hand combat is part of training, acrobatics is not necessarily training. In saying that, practicing free running/Parkour is a skill that ninjas did in regards to climbing and escaping, the style points of it obviously wasn't part of the training, but running up walls and jumping from ledge to ledge was, as well as balancing and rolling across beams. You are wrong in saying hand to hand combat is not practicing, you would be right if someone said hand to hand is the only way to practice, because hand to hand is just a small portion of training, but in order to be efficient in the art you really have to of started training since childhood to get to a proficiency level to have a chance to be descent at it. Because there is soo much to learn and such a variety of topics to master that it literally is a full time/life time job to do. So ten years of hand to hand combat is not a proficient practitioner, in fact their training is shallow and will not be effective in this art. You have to know a lot more than hand to hand combat. The things you talked about in regards to sneaking in and going across country are valid skills to learn, you can practice hiking and trail crossing, practice swimming underwater with a reed to breath with. Just pick up any old BUDS training manual and you'll have a general foundation as to conditioning and mental fortitude. Ninjas were spec ops of the day, that's all. They do have more specialize info then your typical specialist now a days. They did get more deeper into things that the worlds military don't know about, but today's specialist have tools that would blow away the ancient ninja, such as thermal vision, drones, satellite imagery, etc. But take away that technology and ninjas were very formidable. Same goes for if you were in a narrow hallway, Wing Tsun is very effective in close quarter, short movement hand to hand self defense.

Another option for the practice of innin is to enlist in a branch of the current military and civilian government dedicated intelligence organization with a specialization in operational human intelligence in the counterintelligence and/or counter-extremism/terrorism sectors provided you're confident enough in the organizational competency and ethical integrity of the intel community in your individual country. Remember the admonition against Samurai and Shinobi-no-mono consciously entering into or remaining in the service of a compromised, corrupted or otherwise obvious disqualifying leadership characteristics and deficiencies only results in disqualifying your own operational effectiveness & more importantly, your personal professional credibility the longer you remain.

First it was Ninjutsu, then rebranded when people started to question the authenticity, Antony keeps saying Ninjutsu doesn't exist, the schools that Hatsumi teaches, are they real or just made up? Is this just a pseudo martial art for role play and dressing up like Ninjas. Would love to see a breakdown of each school and historical evidence of techniques ad lineage.

Hahaha :) You can practice if you have control. You hit points but never break anything. Yes, you cannot finish any technique as it is designed (killing as last resort) but you can perform controled position on your enemy (pinning them down while being ready for next opponent). Ninjutsu has a good phylosophy on self preservation, so even avoiding potential places, situations, wearing the right clothes or equipment is a form of practising. Any trip to nature can be a form of practising. I always liked climbing and jumping. And of course falling. That knowledge is useful and much practised in my life :)

Why do people say shinobis did parkour and free-running?
@josh87saa
@josh87saa 10 лет назад
Because it makes them more fantastical and mysteriously bad-ass. The truth is, real Shinobi go so far beyond something as trivial as parkour. Most people just have ballooned ideas about Shinobi, because that's what we've been exposed to in the west for the last 50 years, therefore, it's mainly out of sheer ignorance and lack of understanding. A ninja would never go through the trouble of free running to get away from an enemy when he could just as easily hide or get into a disguise lol.
@DKopa979
@DKopa979 10 лет назад
josh87saa But what if they were getting chased? Parkour is the art of overcoming obstacles using the human body, in the most efficient way.
@josh87saa
@josh87saa 10 лет назад
Risen Eagle I get that, but understand, Shinobi are all about victory and or success, through whatever means necessary, (as long as it doesn't go against your lord or beliefs), so the path of least resistance would be their first step...it's easier to hide than run over buildings any day of the week. Now I'm sure Ninja could do something similar to parkour, but it wasn't called that and it was probably a bit more basic. Brief scenario: Shinobi commonly if practicing the art of in-nin, were operating in large castles and or perhaps a home depending. Stealing in as it's referred to, simply involves various forms of breaking and entering, gathering intel, killing an enemy, etc., and getting out. In the event that say Samurai were chasing them they would obviously exit the premises and run on foot, but bear one thing in mind: parkour is practiced primarily in urban settings, or at least that's where it's most effective. In ancient Japan, a castle would probably be the only structure within a given distance, probably given security reasons, ( unless it was in a major city, in which case, there would be multiple Ninja, Samurai, and foot-soldiers for a full scale assault) so other than scaling a wall, hopping over something, etc., practicing parkour would only get you so far, and then you'd be in an open field or forest, what then? If you can, just try to think of Shinobi as say Delta Force or SAS, those would be the most accurate descendants of Ninjutsu if I could ever think of any lol. Do they waste time running across buildings and pretty much showing off? No, they do what works every time and they plan far ahead so that running away is the last option. I think parkour is neat and all, but battlefield effectiveness is key, and I just don't see it being that useful, especially in ancient Japan on a Shinobi mission. Shinobi were historically, master tacticians, not acrobats, so something like parkour would be very trivial to a Ninja in terms of what he would think of employing in a running situation. Also, if he didn't hide, he could throw a smoke bomb, or foot spikes, or any other form of harassment to get the enemy off his ass. I know this has been long winded, I'm just trying to help you understand that parkour or something like it, would probably be strange to a Shinobi, and would be the last thing they'd depend on in terms of getting away. Show less
@DKopa979
@DKopa979 10 лет назад
josh87saa Perhaps when they were disguised they did acrobatics. I still believe they did the arts of parkour. Because, parkour has always been here just didn't have a name for it. Parkour is practiced anywhere natural or man-made.

I've taken panes of glass out to gain entry to work on a job when the client forgot to leave me the key. The easiest way to pick these days on most locks is with a bump key. I dare say, if you are "practicing" Ninjutsu like HEMA/SCA, then you are not practicing real Ninjutsu. You see, the Shinobi were never about using outdated techniques, they would keep up their skills as times changed. So if you practice real Ninjutsu in 2024 you are learning how to bypass electronic locks, picking modern physical locks, modern disguise, modern mannerisms of trades/sub-cultures, etc. You can not be a Ninja today by wearing Tabi and using a candle as lighting. What is the heart of being a Ninja? Blending in, gathering information all in the effort to win "battles" with the least amount of damage to your own side. Ninja in 1600 did not go around dressed and acting like people in the 1100s. They acted as people IN THE YEAR THEY WERE LIVING IN.
